Tucked away from the world, Torren rests among a cliffside ocean with a focus on its lavender industry and religion. Interacting with the outside world only through trade, Torren's inhabitants dedicate their lives to worshipping Angels, whom they believe are holy beings that bring good luck. Every few decades, a new seer gets chosen from the town's children where upon reaching adulthood they are predicted to meet and speak to an Angel and bring change to the town.

Due to Torren's dwindling population, the seer is also pushed to have children once of age, as the town believes their bloodline is blessed. Failure or refusal to do so results in social isolation and heavy judgment. What the population of Torren doesn't realise is that instead of being holy beings, Angels are just another species that live within their world, and the religion they dedicate their town's existence to is not what they belived.
