hellooo! thank you so so much, i am so incredibly happy that you like my stuff and it really makes me want to continue getting better!! <3 i think designing characters is something you develop a taste for over time and it kind of comes naturally to you later, BUT what definitely improved my designs over the years was looking at patterns that appear in the nature, not only cats but all kinds of different animals! whatever inspires you, whatever gives you an idea, everything is good! when i do off-base designs, i always try to think about at least a tiny backstory for the character - where do they come from? does the environment affect their fur lenghts? do they need any kind of accessories to get by in the climate? what is their personality? would they like to accessorize or do they like to stay minimalist? also it's super cool to base colors off of this kind of information! :) get creative with where you look for your colour palettes! i usually just find the colours on the colour wheel, but when i'm feeling unmotivated or uninspired, i try to make searching for colours into a game! maybe try making a colour palette from your own photos, try making a moodboard and colourpick from that, layer colours on top of each other to create new ones! and last thing that im kind of fighting with still is to not be afraid of high contrast! i tend to make designs with very similar values and i definitely want to practice adding more depth and contrast into the colours i use!! :D so sorry for rambling! i hope this is useful at least in some way haha!! and thank you once again, i hope you have a lovely day!

absolutely no worries haha! <3 i have some plans for the future regarding this, i will either start a discord server or start up a kofi membership subscription tiers, which is probably the more comfortable option for me as i struggle with anxiety and general motivation and so keeping a discord server could be quite hard for me, but i will see!! :>
