Toyhou.se is kinda just a place I spend too much time making profiles for my blorbos and dumping art on to, and there's not much in the way of like...talking to folks on here. I'm kind of a ghost in that regard. I've begun to wonder if there are any folks here who ONLY follow me on TH, and not on like...tumblr or twitter or anything. If that's the case, I just wanna let you know--I've been creating and posting stuff for two different stories. The first is a webtoon called Woven, which you can find here!: https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/woven/list?title_no=2744 Apparently there's enough material on it that new readers spend a few solid hours binging it to catch up. So that's cool!

The second story is just a smattering of drawings, writings, notes, and answered questions; a very informal, doodley little thing I make vignettes and such for when I have the free time and energy to do so. It's a more slice of life character study kinda thing set in the real world on the coast of British Columbia between 2008-2012. It's about three perfectly normal musicians just tryina survive. You can read it over here!: https://www.tumblr.com/painted-bees/722464162870067200/cortes-blorblos-masterpost

this is also a reminder that a story can be anything, any format at all. It doesn't have to be a high polished, chronologically ordered, well edited book or comic or animation. A story can be a bunch of rough doodles and bullet form notes. It can be something you tell your friends verbally over coffee. it can be bunch of Toyhou.se character profiles...all valid formats. Stories are very cool that way.

Hope you're all doing well!

Followed you here from Twitter! Really been enjoying sitting and reading the stories for the Cortes Trio. Especially since it's in my home area! Fun to see your take on the area. :3

oh, thank you!! I hope I am capturing it well!! Haha it's a long way from my home in thailand!

you've been doing amazing! i think the only quip i've had was we call them the "North Cascades" not the "Rockies" but it's an easy mistake since they're all part of the same fault line. i really enjoy the story!

i also have a question. there's a big time jump on some of the stories. are Magritte and Rafael eventually in a relationship or just friends still in the story when they meet Cortes? Curious since the tone seemed to have shifted a lot over the years since the "Good Friends" snippet. :) i think the story is strong either way so just curious.

oh yeah, the "good friends" snippit was their first kiss(and more haha), and Raf would remain in self-preserving denial over the nature of their relationship for a while yet, but gradually, graaadually change his perspective/language in how he considers and talks about (and to) Margie. And Margie just...patiently follows his lead on it (starts calling him her partner only after she has heard him call her that a few times, says "I love you" only in response to when he says it the first few times, etc, before she starts incorporating it into her every day phrases/rituals with him :3) It's a slow, gradual development. but by the time the get to Cortes, there's no doubt or question about what they are to each other ♡

gave you a follow on tumblr! and you're so right about the way stories are build. My friend wants to tell xer story in a format akin to a scrapbook, which I think is so cool. Like, a compilation of letters send to other characters, photographs, pieces of dried flora between pages. I think it's such a cool concept

oh neat!
So you had story stuff other places.
I'll have to go take a look at Woven when I have some time.

And I totally agree about stories. Everyone creates differently.
And while I do love getting around to writing short stories, I also treasure the stories that are just little tidbits on toyhouse pages.

Toyhou.se pages can be such a fun format to absorb, too Q vQ I wished I was a little less stingy and more savvy with CSS, cuz then I could deck my character pages out maximally haha

Totally agree.
I've found a few premade templates that work well, but I wish I knew how to make my own to do everything perfect.

i cannot WAIT to have the time and energy to dive into the Cortes trio bc I love everything I've seen of them here on TH. I still need to get around to the webcomic too dfjghdfhg brain energy is hard to come by these days

also hi, I definitely do only follow you here bc I don't use tumblr and muskrat destroyed twitter lmao. but i've known about you since the Abraxas demo!!

I feel you on the energy front. The cortes trio have been my little comfort corner for the last several months now--no coherent plot, really. Mostly just a character study, writing the mundane in ways that are fun or cathartic to myself--and inviting others to partake of it if it suits them!

Since Abraxas!! I am always amazed to hear when people have stuck around so long! It makes me so happy ; 0; <3!!

It's absolutely really nice to have a little OC group like that imho. Low stress, but fun and comforting, gotta love it. it helps when they're all very smoochable too lol

And YEAH!!! I'm still crossing my fingers that y'all are able to make it a full game someday. Need more birds in my life. >:)

I do love your toyhouse though~! For me, it's wonderful getting to see all your art in one spot and indulging in specific character art and reading their profiles and such. (Not to say I don't love your tumblr or twitter or webtoon, it's just kinda fun to poof into just a character and see everything about them in one go, ya know? ) I also understand where you're coming from though. There's not a lot to do beyond character profiles and such. I kinda wish there were just posts here (not journals but more like tumblr/twitter to be quick-social with and a feed or dashboard for those socializations). It's hard to have a lot of interaction on here without something more easily/readily available socializing.

But I very much love that you post your stuff here. TH is probably my favorite site to be on personally XD

TH has been consistently very nice to use, for sure! The people running it seem completely disinterested in growing it to sell to some bigger tech company or what ever--genuinely just a chill place to post your blorbos for fun. Tumblr's format though has been perfect for posting long format comics. A lot of the cortes trio comics I post there, I can't post here because the file size is too big(long) and I'd have to size it down to the point of being completely illegible if I wanted to fit it within the acceptable dimensions ; 0; I also love being able to share story bits and such as responses to asks and the like over there. And, it's quite a bustling, attentive and enthusiastic audience for that kind of stuff...so I've been having a lot of fun :D

In some ways, I do wish TH allowed for more formats and socializing like tumblr does--but I also think that's a cursed thing to ask. I don't wanna see the finger on the monkey paw curl, if you know what I mean haha
