Another pet peeve thread let's go
My fandom pet peeves are when people ship their characters with the canon characters. I don't know, it's just weird. But that's just me.
Please don't get too negative here.
Antis and their purity culture bullshit.
Treating ships/headcanons as canon and/or real activism.
People raceswapping anime/Asian characters because light skinned POC don't count as POC to some people, apparently!?!
The fact that I always seem to like my fandom's rare ships and I never get enough fan content! :'(
- forced romantic relationships, this happens a lot in american movies / series I feel but also in other media, what I mean is when the characters never really had any meaningful conversation with each other or they just acted as friends the whole time, then out of nowhere they love each other ??? if there is nothing hinting at all that one might like the other it's just no don't do this it's highly unneccessary
- when people totally HATE characters, I accept that not everyone like the same kind of characters that's just how it is but I don't undertand when people invest so much time into something they hate, also to have such strong feelings about them when they could just... leave them be, it's just a character
- people who get all worked up when a trans kid says “this character that means a lot to me is trans because i am too and it makes me feel happy” and start going “UuUuH nO??????? tr,,,ANS pEoPle?? In MY FandOm?????” like calm down its fiction
- On the other hand, when the same people start pushing their headcanon onto others and fighting with them when they say their own headcanons. like i have hcs but i dont ...enforce them on others
- This is just kinda personal bc it happened in the town of salem art fandom haha but when a fandom goes from super smol and family-like to a super huge bustling one with people i barely know anymore,,, But it’s bound to happen and i am happy with more people in the fandom but it tends to stress me out a bit haha
I'm just gonna say it.
The 9-12-year-olds, sometimes older, who shows up and acts childish and rude? Idk. It bothers me the most since I'm often in a small bubble of close friends who all also hate this to death. It feels like my community is overrun with kids to the point we call the place daycare.
It's a huge mess. We got the kids who do stuff like dodge bullets when they are a slow creature or those kids who do nothing but rp, even when we beg for them to stop and act like themselves around us. Those are the most annoying for us.
Most other peeves rarely ever apply to me since I don't like being in chats in public due to something that happened and no one ever really bothers me as a result and my fandom is not really that bad in the shipping, the headcanons, etc. That and I stick to the fc sides of fandoms most of the time (biggest examples are Pikmin and Pokemon for me).
Also, the people who get pissed off when you make ocs that "don't fit the canon or don't fit at all". Like, it's my characters that are in their own aus, using the species and elements of the universe they are from, it's none of your concern. Leave me alone and don't attack me EVER again-
personally i love partaking in oc x canon... but not when people fight over that canon. this is why i left all the fanbases of fandoms to be alone 😭 don't fite me bro i just want to have fun
+ also when people try to dictate what you can do with your fc and stories. it ain't conflicting with the actual canon, let people enjoy things

- people who enter a character/ship-love thread just to hate on it (or likewise for hate threads). what is the point of this, you'll just get downvoted and your pleas fall on deaf ears lmao
- when it comes to nsfw fics, noncon and dubcon for abusive ships. it can be done well, maybe, but I haven't seen it if so.
- the fandom tearing at each other's throats about who tops who in a shipping. I won't even be subtle here, this is literally MikaYuu vs. YuuMika in a nutshell - don't join the Owari no Seraph fandom.

- hating on a character just because they go against your OTP (cough Kikyo in Inuyasha cough)
- gatekeeping.
- every best friend pair in canon is secretly in love with each other.
- agreed with @AceofSpades on every hc being 'they're trans and I will fight you on this'.
- also agreed on others about child x adult ships.
I can agree with the "oh they are trans cuz yes" thing.
It's kinda bad with the Pikmin fandom with people making Alph non-binary for any reason besides that he's a cinnamon roll that appeals to the Tumblr folk. I see it way too often than other headcanons.
There's also Parappa The Rapper and the people who make Lammy trans, but at least they seemed to have given a reason back when I was in the fandom; she has horns (at least it was a popular idea at the time where I stalked the fandom). I pointed out that there are breeds of sheep that can have females with horns and I think I upset a few people lol (one guy said it doesn't have to make sense since it's a cartoon (which I hate that argument for most things (mainly Pikmin...ugh...) but I agree with it here since have you seen anything Parappa related?) and I agreed). Gg trans!Lammy-ers! You gave a reason other than "uwuwuwu soft boi!!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙" to make a character trans or nb! I'm pretty proud! I bet you made a lot of people here proud but I wouldn't know cuz I don't like going outside my bubble that has my Squad in it.
when people get all up in arms about other peoples' harmless (key word) fun.
i dont care if you dont like my 20000 fandom ocs, my self-inserts, my oc x canon ships, or my fanchildren - they arent made for you, and im having fun.
i only wish it wasnt common for people to make fun of people for these things or to view it as immature. its a big part of the fandom experience for me, and its how a lot of people get into the creative scene. healthily and harmlessly engaging with your favorite media isnt wrong.
as long as your fun is safe, sane, and consensual/legal, aka doesnt harm anybody or yourself, there's nothing wrong with it.
(and before anyone gets riled up or misconstrues my words - fiction affects reality. pedophiles, incest lovers, abusers, transphobes, homophobes, racists, etc. can all eff off.)

i absolutely adore code lyoko, and the fandom is small, which is really frustrating because i like a rarepair.
also most of the fans are like under 12 and i’m 15 so it’s just awkward roleplaying but like whatever it’s a kid’s show so i expected that
