Noticed he's on hold for someone now. Going to have to withdraw my entry since I don't see any others who'd fit this role (will likely reuse this idea for a future character), but thank you very much for the opportunity and for hosting this event nonetheless.
Trying out for this lovely. https://toyhou.se/723358.versa#2624024
I... got a little bit carried away writing about him.
Sabeh* - toyhou.se/723358.versa#2624024
*Name may be subject to change
It is not known from whence he came, snatched at birth and raised among the elves.
Sabeh is believed to have come from a dying out race, although none can say for sure for the records mention nothing like him. It is in part due to that, combined with the vibrant colours and intricate patterns upon his skin, that he was grabbed.
Now a young adult, Sabeh has been living with the elves for as long as he can remember and hated it the whole time for he is considered a beacon. A beacon of beauty. Amongst a realm of beings who prize beauty above all else, he is considered priceless. A prize to be owned by only the highest in the social standings.
The king.
The king considers Sabeh his son and spoils him with any riches and such that he might desire, but Sabeh does not reciprocate. To him, he is trapped. He is a servant to the king. A servant to his appearance. He does enjoy the pampering and spoiling, however, so he hides these feelings, putting on a facade, acting as if he does not mind. As if the king were family.
Sabeh is expected to sit and be pretty, but at the same time is treated as a son of the king, albeit not quite as a prince. This results in him having rather conflicted emotions in regards to his current station. He hates feeling like a pet, like a servant, and he hates some of the ways he is treated, but it also allows him to pursue many interests.
The capital of the elvish town in which he lives is home to a large dragon stable which he loves visiting. He is mildly magical, although his abilities have many limitations, alongside speeding plant growth he has the ability to speak with animals and creatures of any shape or size. This is in part why he enjoys his visits with the dragons, for when he needs advice they are willing to give it or at least some of them. He has, however, considered running away and getting one of the dragons to take him far from his home, but despite his lack of satisfaction with his life, he has never followed through. He very highly fears the unknown and knows very little about the lands of men.
Unlike men, partially due to being raised by elves, Sabeh considers the dragons, and any animals even down to the smallest mouse, his equals and friends.
This may be amplified by the way he is sometimes treated as an animal. Much like many birds, twice a year he moults his feathers. During this time, he is expected to remain in his corridors and not allowed to exit them. After one time when he was younger, there are now armed guards posted at every door and window for that period of time.
While he doesn't know for sure, he suspects that the king keeping him hidden during that time is due to his wings being patchy in appearance and not the definition of beauty he believes they should be. While kept in containment, he distracts himself with books and his plants. His corridors are filled to the brim with plants which twice a year grow drastically and seem to take on a life of their own. The books are also scattered through his rooms and are a mixture of history books and novels. When upset or scared, he often will hide among his potted plants and read, disappearing into another world for as long as he can.
During his moult, it is not uncommon for servants to be sent in to gather feathers he has lost which the king then decorates himself with. Sabeh has hated this since he was really young, finding it a very invasive practice, but he lives with it.
Name: Sabeh
Gender: Male
Race: Unknown
Age: 20
Personality:
Sabeh is, despite how he is expected to portray himself, quite shy. Even in social settings, or rather, especially in social settings, he chooses not to speak unless spoken to and would much rather be hiding away than being complimented for his appearance. He is very spoiled, which has led to a lack of ability to fend for himself, leaving him very dependant on others. While he reads a lot and is book smart, he isn't so much street smart, in part due to always having at least one guard trailing behind him. He isn't very assertive, nor is he very aggressive, but he isn't a total pushover either. If he feels the need to object, he does so in a passive-aggressive manner, much to the dismay of the king. He is quite accepting and sees most as equals. Due to a lack of actual life experience, however, he is very indecisive and struggles to make decisions on his own. He is very gentle, and it isn't uncommon for him to be seen talking to his plants and helping injured animals in any way he possibly can. His sense of personal worth is quite low, as he believes that he as a person is nothing to be appreciated due to most people only ever seeing who he is on the outside. He is lost, and conflicted, and due to his position he sometimes struggles with remaining happy and retreats into a shell with his plants and stories.
Likes:
Plants, animals, books, his collections, being pampered, learning, pomegranates
Dislikes:
His father figure, moulting, feeling like a slave, pineapples, conflict, feeling useless
Miscellaneous:
o Sabeh enjoys to sing to himself and actually has a lovely voice (he has been compared to a songbird for his colours and voice). Unfortunately, this results in his singing being desired, making him sing at public gatherings and festivals from time to time.
o Through all of his reading, Sabeh has developed an extreme desire to see the ocean. Alas, this is unlikely to happen soon.
o He has a collection of rocks and feathers. When asked, he avoids any mention of why those two items are so special to him. In rocks, he prefers the ones others might find dull, and to him, they symbolize the wrongness of the culture in which he lives. Beauty can be everywhere, not just physical. The feathers remind him that he is not alone, that there are others, even if he does not know them.
o He loves being pampered, so although his hair is always intricately braided; he doesn't know how to braid his own hair.
o He is a vegetarian and absolutely refuses to eat meat, much preferring fruits an berries. Even being present while another consumes meat makes him highly uncomfortable.
Note on "The King": The king is a character I have in the works, unlinked due to lack of art or information uploaded anywhere.
His name is undecided though, so he has not been referred to by it anywhere in this entry.
---
Depending on how the plotlines go, I may have Sabeh become unknowingly involved in a rebellion or plot against the king after becoming associated with a member of the elvish nobility who doesn't agree with the current method of the ruling of the kingdom... the kings younger brother. He may eventually realize this and have to deal with conflicting emotions about "betraying" the one who essentially keeps him as a slave. This is, however, just one possible outcome and as I develop the story and even if it doesn't happen, I feel like he could be quite fun to write and develop. I might also consider having him find a friend (maybe in one of the guards who guards his corridors during moult?) who would see beyond the outside, allowing for more development on Sabeh's part. If that were to occur, he might end up developing a crush on said guard for being willing to see him for who he is, but it would likely be more of a platonic relationship or closer to a little/big brother thing.
(While I am trying out, would I happen to have any characters who might interest you for them? You can look at all, but I believe Neto is the only nft at the moment, and my eliore is tentatively on hold)
