Courier Im personally against renaming it the PSA section (or having a non-service related PSA forum) as I fear it would encourage too many people from making frivolous PSAs (ie X blocked me or Y like insert harmless fandom). There's already a handful of those right now TToTT. tho yeah when/if there's more mod the Service Review could more easily/officially allow legit PSAs that arent service related (ei posting illegal content, grooming etc)

Some of the forum section could use some splitting up. With how fast some subforum goes thanks to the increase in users a lot of threads gets buried in favor of more trendy ones.
Edit: Additional suggestion from 216th that could work in tandem with the rework: Have each category foldable on the main forum page (kinda like how spoilers work) so it's neater/easier to hid subforums you don't often frequent)

| Separating written commissions from the rest of the art marketplace because of how much they are at a disadvantage right now, a lot of people think it doesn't belong in the art marketplace for some reason? so having a Book marketplace just for writers sounds necessary. Also adding a Bazaar for more specialized "non-drawing" commissions (Plushies, dolls, music etc) would be nice too! I though moving Adopt Shelters away from the freebie section would make more sense too since you need to give OCs to gain currency to then use said currency in order to get a new OC back from a sheleter, it's not free and more of a trade with extra steps. | |

| A complete split of Ganeral and Site subforum would work well if there were to be the option to hide/collapse subforums. The introduction board would have the introduction board from the help section pinned here and would be the place for both "im new here" threads and "lf friend" threads. You could also make your own intro thread outside of the master thread could go there if people want that General chatter would have most of what the current G&OT has but with side forum to make it less clogged. Memes, "lol random" and shitpost threads would go into the Shitpostbin and Threads looking for/giving invite codes as well as discord promotion would have it's own subforum too. (The promotion forum could also be used for Artfight threads that are known to flood the G&OT during summer) The Site subforum would mostly have unchanges cathegory expt the addition of the Bug repport thread as I feel like bug report threads gets buried by suggestions? It could also help finding/linking people to known bug thread+fixes whenever they post about it in the help section like the gallery number bug and such! | |

Ooohhhhhhh yeah that would probably happen. Yeah that makes sense. I have noticed the amount of "X blocked me beware" post increasing. I concede my suggestion for that then. At least till there is some mods. Seems every toyhouse problem could be fixed with more mods.
I remember a forum rework being brought up when the site was only a couple years old and the mods (plural) were like "no, we don't want to have to be moving threads for the next few months" or something to that effect, and that was when there was only a couple hundred people on-site. They did move General to the bottom of the forum list, and add the Art Freebies section, around that time though.
I'd personally rather see the site trimmed to about 1/3rd of the forums, honestly, just because of the modding situation. The forums are already far too large for just one person to watch over, and minimods are annoying and ineffective (case in point: me). General and Service Reviews have been largely negative and unhelpful as of recent, and I wouldn't mind seeing them locked as a whole until (if) we get an actual modding team. Service Reviews should go here instead.

The only tweak I'd suggest is separating species discussion and species interest checks. The species discussion forum as it is now is 99.9% adopt interest checks and sale/event promotions and it drowns out discussion about species creation and development.
I totally see the forums being a bit toxic but I wouldn't nuke it all nor the majority of it personally. Like Only the Service Reviews and General Offtopic maybe TToTT
+1 Especially for general. Seeing random haha threads emerge in masses only to die within days or hours is fine but it clogs up the front page so much so genuine discussion and threads are harder to find and comb through and often get buried. I’ve noticed this only happens when something triggering or bad gets posted in the forums to ease everyone‘s mind or change the topic or bury that particular thread which is valid but can become even more spammy than intended. No hate to people who do that, I just hate having to block 10 different “hi“ ”reminder” or “DONT CLICK THIS” threads to make G&OT more manageabl to sift through 😫
A FAV EXCHANGE FORUM WAS ADDED! I consider this an absolute win. Such a small change but a big W. Maybe with time we'll get even more reorganization (maybe not to the extent of my post above) that could help!
The ability to close/fold cathegory still sounds nice too.

[manual bump] honestly out of my entireass rework thing if I could chose to only pick 2 changes it would be 1) a forum for writing commissions and 2) separate the Seeking RP/discords stuff from the ACTUAL WORLDS in the world forum u_u
my main suggestion for this would be separating character games and freebies. it’s my main problem with how the forums are set up atm so I’m surprised it wasn’t done here, especially when there are now two art freebie related forums but nothing separate for character freebies!! I can’t seem to find many character games at ALL for the amount of freebie posts in there. they feel like two completely separate kinds of thread topic that shouldn’t be mixed together like that lol :,D
a lot of these I feel are kind of unnecessary as well? shcjchck idk I think I just have a lot of small peeves that prevent me from giving a +1 to this haha. overall it feels very confusing, long and cluttered 🥲🥲
JOYII most if not all of the recathegorisations listed were suggestions I've seen repeatedly in the forums both before and after making this thread (just the "add a writer forum" alone had many suggestions threads, the separating seeking and offering freebies has been discussed quite a bit too in recent times - some event saying there should only be thread that offer freebies and people seeking should browse said thread rather than make seeking threads) so that's why there are so many additions.
You are the first person I've seen wanting to separate the character games and freebies, I pretty much had 0 ideas people even wanted that!
