Honestly, I think this would be a very good idea, and possibly having triggering topics tagged as well could be a good idea.
This came to mind after a friend of mind had an underage user favorite one of their characters that happened to deal with NSFW themes and the like. While there are ways to keep people under 18 out of certain threads now and to stop them seeing certain images, to my knowledge there still isn't a way to stop them from viewing a profile of a character that is completely NSFW!
For example, my character Kimiko, isn't a purely NSFW character, but by nature she is an inherently sexual character with a lot of sexual themes in her profile! But people under 18 can still go to her profile and look at all the info, no matter how much I try to censor it! I think this is a big issue and honestly, it would be worth having an option to age restrict characters so that underage people cannot gain access to them!
If this is something that already exists, please let me know! But I don't think you can do this currently and I think it's something that needs to be addressed!
I agree with this suggestion on many levels.
It's like when people make 18+ tumblrs or twitters. Most adults don't want to give minors access to NSFW material so they take efforts so they don't knowingly allow that to happen. Letting creators age restrict their own content sounds like a great idea so they can have some peace of mind about the whole thing.
But people can just lie about their age.... I'm sorry but in all reality it'll be so difficult to stop them from seeing that kind of stuff. At some point it's you the person with the NSFW stuff to either take it off, or include it somewhere that it can't be seen. x-x
lying about your age on toyhouse is against the rules and is grounds for a ban i'm fairly certain, so if a minor purposefully lied about their age to access nsfw characters they could be reprimanded (i mean, i guess you wouldn't be able to tell if they didn't interact, but yanno)
i don't think people should be obligated to remove parts of their character that they enjoy or care about just because someone might break the rules to look at it? it's not the fault of the person with nsfw if they put up the warnings and restrict the character, it's the fault of the rule-breaking minor
putting it in the tab is what people have been doing, i think, but that's still easy for kids to access! also this suggestion is to make sure it's not out in the open for kids to see by putting it behind an age lock. are rulebreaking kids going to see it? probably, but it's not fair to punish people because some kids decided to break the rule imo
Nonstop idk at some point imo when is it too much nsfw. I mean if you clearly care about what kids see then why have nsfw. Its not fair to them to lock them out and be like NO "YOU CAN'T ENJOY HALF THE SITE JUST CAUSE ITS NSFW". Then you would lose quite a bit of the younger gen. Which i mean if TH is ok with then by all means. Really all we can sit back and do is move our nsfw or just censor it for now.
i don't think people are going to lock out half the site because it's nsfw. i think at the end of the day we have different opinions about nsfw on toyhouse? i think it's fine... toyhouse is a site about characters and artwork of characters, and sometimes that's going to be nsfw, and i don't think people should be punished for having that and be forced to seek alternatives! people can have both sfw and nsfw characters, and some people might continue to put the nsfw stuff in a tab that's age-locked if this suggestion is implemented, but i just don't think it's right to ban the entire spectrum of nsfw art, personally
