Suggestion: Age Restricting Characters

As a minor (13), I very much support this. I like PaperTsubaki’s idea of nsfw tabs rather than completely 18+ characters the most, but I’ll take this in any form. I’ve seen some pretty disturbing profiles and descriptions for characters, that I definitely didn’t need to see, and tags/image filters are used so inconsistently, they’re useless.

Nsfw tabs would be best, mostly because I love viewing characters and reading their bios, and I don’t care for the nsfw details. It could also help with characters’ galleries, and keep them interesting. Character galleries tell stories, and it would be nice to see a gallery tell a story... without sex scenes. Those can be extra for the ones who are interested, I’m not one of them.

Another thing that would be nice is a “sensitive content” filter for things that aren’t porn, but still distressing could be filtered, and not as 18+. I actually like looking at body horror characters, and studying vent ocs, it would be a shame if they were in the same category as nsfw characters, because they’re so different and there’s nothing different about how the average 13 year old would feel about one compared to the average adult.

i think restricting an entire character may be overkill, like if someone wants to see any SFW art for commissions, forum games, etc. etc.

i saw a number of people support the nsfw tabs idea, and i think that would be the best way to implement this idea

For the whole nsfw character issue, you could use tabs for whole characters, including nsfw characters. It may be annoying, but it would work!

You could make a character called “nsfw characters 18+” and each fully nsfw character would be a subcharacter. They could also be subcharacters of characters they are the most closely linked to.

i would rather have the option to make entire characters nsfw. i understand it can be frustrating for minors to be blocked out of a character... but it's my character and i'm within my rights if i don't want to share the character with underage people, or don't want to be forced to make a single megacharacter to hold all my nsfw in because they have to be tabs. i don't like tabs for characters (i use them for informational stuff or storage) and i don't want to have to delegate characters to tab-status only.

It seems like the best solution would be the ability to mark either entire characters or individual tabs as NFSW (18+) or sensitive (not 18+, for stuff like potential triggers).

I do not want to use tabs for my NSFW characters, that's a lot of work and honestly Id rather just mark a whole character as NSFW kinda thing. Once again I'd really like something like this I don't like the idea that minors can see some of my rather dark characters and even worse when they have them...

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned but age restricted spoiler boxes would be nice too! I have a few characters that deal with sexual or dark themes that I'd rather not have minors see, but it's nothing big enough to warrant blocking off the entire character or even just a new tab, so maybe something like the spoiler boxes we already have but they won't open or show up unless the user is of age?

I have a few OCs that deal with some dark subject matter that might be too sensitive for wee-ones to pars by themselves and while I don't think we should put minors in a bubble, there are some things like Gore that I can see would frighten children. Body gore even frightens me in some cases and I'm almost 30. lol. 

Oh, what about a tag system where if you tag an OC with 'Gore' it won't show for minors or people who would prefer not to see that content? 

As someone who's currently still a minor, i actually really support this idea.

 Young people should be protected from certain content best as possible. Although people can still lie about their age and stuff, this idea would be better than nothing. Personally im not too bothered by most things, but when im browsing i don't want to accidentally find nsfw or extremely sensitive themes and would much rather people had the ability to hide that stuff from younger veiwers if they wanted to. It wouldn't really bug me at all if i couldn't veiw a character because its age restricted, if anything i'd feel glad about it. Simpily putting a warning at the top of a character page won't stop most minors from carrying on.

I think having age restricted spoiler tabs is a great idea too, that idea has also got my support.
