Opinions on the "same outfit" trope?

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, a lot of the time in cartoons or other animated media characters will more or less be permanently stuck in a single outfit. Like in scooby doo or spongebob you almost never see any of the main cast in a different outfit to the point their outfits are synonymous to the characters themselves. It's even gotten to the point where a lot of cartoons will poke fun at the idea by showing the character(s) only have hundreds of that one single outfit in their wardrobes (think bee movie lmao)

Personally, I'm wondering what you're opinions on this are. Mainly asking this because I've noticed myself doing this to my own characters in in my comic, and I've been debating on weather or not I want to change things up. On one hand I like it because, at least for me, designing outfits can be difficult. When I manage to make a good one I wanna stick with it, ya know? But I'm curious to hear what other people think!

I have a hard time designing clothing, so usually one pair is enough.

I have a small gag I use with my one character Chronicle where he always wears the same jacket, shoes, pants... But every time he takes his jacket off he has some weird shirt on.
