Lo Cliodna

(A lot of it will be stuff that's happened in the campaign so far)

What is something that nobody agrees with you on?

"We recently, ugh, acquired a woman suspended in a crystal, whom the crims were moving to their military base. We knew that the crims really needed her blood, because something about her bloodline made her suitable for setting up magical defenses. The rest of my party wanted to release her from the crystal, whereas I wished to take her to my homecity of Karakol. Karakol is the only public settlement of the No-Mans Land, held safe from the vengeful elder gods by a magical artefact...which the crims had recently stolen. Perhaps, with her, we could set up new defenses and stand a chance at not becoming a colony of the Crimson Kingdom? The others disagreed with me, saying that she might be concious within the crystal, suffering. That it's unethical to use a living creature's essence. I still think I'd rather sacrifice the life of a stranger to potentially keep ten thousand people safe and not doing so is the real evil, especially as there's no real proof that said person is concious or aware of what's going on. In the end we reached an agreement with the party that we'd release her and then ask her nicely to aid Karakol of her own free will. She wasn't interested. And by that time I realized that I was too soft to go against the will of my party and the tug of my concience by forcing her into serving my city against her will...a body suspended in time, suspended in a crystal is a different moral conundrum from a walking, talking person."

What was your favorite childhood book/toy?

"A hobby-horse named Dromos. He was made from a stick of pine-wood with a head of felt and wool, stuffed with straw. We had so many adventures together that my mother had to patch it up extensively before I could hand it down to my little brother."

What is the most useless talent you possess?

"Surging. I am what is called a "wild mage" which means that sometimes my magic...spills over, causing strange things to happen. I can somewhat call it forth at will, but I don't control how the surge manifests. It's almost always something that would've been extremely useful at a different time and place, such as being able to come back from the dead for a very short amount of time or making the surrounding people float up in the air, but I don't believe I have ever had a surge which has been of any use to me."

When was the last time you felt an adrenaline rush?

"That would be two days ago, when our warlock fell 20 meters into freezing water. From the back of some kind of a wyvern. Who'd dropped from the sky as we were arguing about how to best cross the river, killed two of our horses and flew off with them. How did our warlock get atop it's back, you may ask? By magic, of course! In order to try and stop the darn animal, which didn't work out, but that whole encounter was one big adrenaline high. So now we have to walk for five days through an increasingly cold environment before we reach the next set of known ruins. Now that I think of it...I don't even know how I'm talking to you seeing as we're in the middle of nowhere, I must be dreaming this whole questionnaire."

What’s the weirdest animal?

"I think that would be a strange shapeshifting predator whom we encountered in a set of old dwarven ruins. It took on the form of a treasure chest which opened up to reveal a toothy maw, but once we killed it it reverted back to it's true form - an amorphous purplish creature with a toothy maw and blank eyes. If it was up to me I'd call it an "imitling". Because it imitates other things. I have no idea what it was, though my personal theory states that it's basically a non-sentient non-humanoid changeling."

What is something that nobody agrees with you on?

The delivery of justice. Humanity‘s system of courts and judges is imperfect. My own kind are all too eager to forget it. Justice should be swift and fair; the moment the injustice occurs it must be corrected. My judgement is the only way forward. I alone can sense the balance of morality, and know innately when something is unjust. I will always take action the moment I perceive injustice. No deliberation. No warnings. What needs to be done is done. To me, this is logical. Others disagree with my method. Their perceptions of justice and punishment may be different. So long as they do not interfere with my work, they are free to percieve the world through their own eyes.

What is was your favourite childhood book/toy?

I did not have a conventional childhood. As my conciousness developed I was alone within a vast, lifeless sea. Swimming mindlessly through darkness. Time marched onward. Chemicals stewed within the waters and life flourished. I witnessed my birthplace, a lonley, empty nothingness, evolve into an ecosystem of activity and change. The organisms that first appeared in the sea changed form and behaviour as the environment demanded. This careful balancing act, the constant urge to keep going, to remain alive, was my favourite concept to observe.

What is the most useless talent you possess?

No talent is useless. Everything an individual can do can be applied in a meaningful way, even if for simple entertainment. I myself am capable of creating humanlike eyes and a mouth on what humans perceive as my usually featureless ’face’. Such organs are unnecessary, as my antennae perceive all and I do not need to breathe or consume. My daughter, however, is thoroughly entertained by it.

When was the last time you felt an adrenaline rush?

My conciousness does not rely on hormones. I do, however, experience a similar feeling when I dispatch a being that truly deserves to be destroyed.

What‘s the weirdest animal?

I have seen billions of species rise and fall on countless worlds. I am not easily suprised by an organic being’s shape or behaviour. However, very few species ever achieve the level of advancement needed to spread beyond their homeworld and live amongst the stars. Fewer still have ever caught my kind’s attention. Only one has ever inspired true affection in me. Humans are strange creatures indeed.
