ᐟᐟ☆ physical OC merch ideas (HUGE LIST!)

I think most of the things I have are already listed, but something I've liked doing is having a tablecloth/scarf thing to match the character (in this case, a scarf with the pattern of Spark's dress and necklace). Also, if you get a clear photo frame from the dollar store, you can put a drawing of them in it (like the one standing up in the back) as a somewhat larger piece!! Besides that, the usual standard items (buttons, acrylic stands, keychains, etc) are a great way to go. Really, most of my collection is acrylic stands and keychains in various sizes and styles, but eventually I want to branch out a bit also! Would love to learn 3D modelling to 3D print a figure eventually. 

I haven't done one for Spark yet despite having the embroidery floss in my sewing box, but embroidery patches is also a fun one. I did it for my sona a few years ago, and I still have it on my wall. Custom pop sockets are also a fun one! God this thread is going to fuel my custom oc merch addiction so bad aaahahah

I made this one for JennaBlackmore of her book Regards, with Chapter 12 printed on it. 

And one for myself, with Chapter 1 of Poisoner's City printed on it. 

If you're more of a writer type, this is literally so fun to wear. Having one's own writing on their person, it's so fun! and then if people are curious about whats on it, they can read part of your book. Okay I'm done now oops sorryyyyyyy :3  

I've done two felts of Proto and i've done clay figures of other characters here and there but not any current clay works.

one of my personal favourite ways to create merch of my ocs is by making kandi! and you can make TONS of different kinds of kandi (cuffs, singles, necklaces etc) for them! my favourite idea is a kandi perler necklace which is similar to a badge but you use beads called perler beads to make a pattern similiar to pixel art, iron it, then you’ve created a pattern!

you can get super creative with kandi and i highly reccomend doing a little bit of research since it’s also pretty cheap for materials, all you need is elastic string, scissors, non-stretch cord (for things like charms) and pony beads!

I've seen an artist making keychains about her characters. I think it's a pretty cool merch ide.

a phone case sounds super fun~ I imagine that being a fun project, especially as there's so many ways to go about it. and that ring is beautiful!

AHH that embroidery patch!!! holy shit that's awesome, very well done :,3 I make patches pretty often for my pants and backpack, but only painted ones. that's actually super inspiring >.> thanks for sharing!

those are adorable :3 felt figures have always been so interesting to me. you could probably make them for different purposes (keychains, standalone figures, etc), hmm?

YOOOOO KANDI!! once upon a time I had a kandi bracelet for my main OC ;w; thats such a baller idea omg. now I gotta get my kandi supplies back LOL,, pls feel free to share any you've made!

Thank you so much. and yeah there is a ton you can do with felting. I think i even saw someone made a dragon to sit on their shoulder. which would be amazing and i would like to do that with one of my characters but that would be a lot of wool and time to make but i haven't felted in awhile since i've been distracted by other stuff. I think I saw a jewelry dish with a little dolphin in the center of it which could be cool to have an oc in the dish instead. dryer balls or just balls that look like an oc are another option, and also jewelry like earnings or necklaces. Probably other felting options as well.

that's such a neat idea!! I've seen some lego customs before, but never for OCs. reminds me of LPS customs too :0

Since art dolls were mentioned, I'll also bring up Custom toys in general (eg: Doll repaints, LPS customs, MLP customs, lego minifigs). It's something I'd like to do more of for my own OCs (given i have time, can track down bases, and have space) because I only made one AJ figure custom from 2018 that's an outdated design of Iri. Maybe with the release of G7 I might see if they release bases that could be used for other OCs so this isn't the only example I got lol. Still like this piece, but it's a shame I didn't do more OC customs when it was still a main thing of mine

for other things I'd like to do/get:

• Custom Controllers or controller decals. A college friend of mine did a custom decal for his fight stick & I know people in the RGC already do this to their cons. So it'd be nice to mod a turntable (when I get one) to be OC-themed
  
• A solo zine. I've been thinking about it for a while especially since I have the resources to make them at home. There's just something special about holding a physical copy of one in your hands.
  

i dont have any oc merch (outside of considering my dolls ocs but eh) but has anyone mentioned stickers, i think thats a classic

I've started the planning stage of making a hand puppet for them! That way, I'd save time, space, and material compared to making a whole costume, and I'd still be able to (somewhat) visually tell their story

wow that looks incredible!! anything that resembles a figurine or statue is a dreamie of mine. I think it'd be super cool to make a LPS custom of my childhood fursona ^.^
and controller decals are a great idea too, maybe even custom wraps? :3

hand puppet omg.... that's so cool, especially with the mention of visually telling their story. do you have any specific plans or ideas when it comes to that? like making videos/a series with puppets and such?
