The pinyin looks absolutely fine to me! If you wanna cut yourself some slack you can just spell his name as XueQin in the description without the pinyin. I get lazy and do it all the time 😂

drowofdarkness speaking as a Chinese person, it's totally fine to write names without the accents. your reader won't know which characters it is either way, so it's not that much information lost. also, it's a little hard to tell with the watermark but I think Xueqin's shirt is backwards? hanfu collars are always crossed left over right; the other way is reserved for corpses. the way I remember it is when you look at it head-on it's a lowercase y. hope that helps!
octopi Ahh thank you so much for the help! I believe you're correct, his shirt is backwards. While I can't fix his original piece of course, since it's not my art, I'll definitely make sure to fix the bust I did of him tomorrow and bear that in mind for future works! <3
I have this boy!! His outfit was based on some of the more simplistic clothing and layering styles from the Han Dynasty, though I added some (historically inaccurate) golden flower/decor just so that the design itself is interesting to draw...
ALSO I just wanna thank you for creating such a wonderful thread!! I love seeing more traditional Chinese designs so this thread really makes me happy!!
