The OC Above Is Hiding

RULE UPDATE [8/5/2022]

Good afternoon. The character above you is hiding. Why? Maybe they're planning on ambushing your character, or they're playing hide-and-seek, or perhaps they just want to be left alone. What does your character do about this predicament? Do they find the character above? What'll happen if they do?

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

  • Keep NSFW to a minimum -- suggestions, implications, and innuendos are generally fine, but keep in mind that minors have access to this thread.
    • Romantic interactions are allowed, but only between adult characters.
    • Sensitive or gory interactions are also allowed, but must be put under a spoiler or blacked out.
  • Remember to post IC! The IC button is on top of the field where you write your post, just switch it on and select the character you wish to use.
  • There is a five sentence minimum!
    • As a general suggestion, not quite a rule, however, please try to match half the post of the person you are responding to.
  • You may only post every three posts or three days after the last post, not three days after your own.
    • Example: [You] [x] [x] [x] [You] or You [x] [x] [three days pass] [You]
  • You may post a "claim" to avoid getting sniped, but please do not take too long on it!
    • You will be pinged here with a reminder after twelve hours of an unfinished claim. After twenty-four hours of an unfinished claim, you can be skipped by the next person.
  • You must prove that you have read the profile of the character you have responded to and your post must contain elements of their information. No one wants a post where their character is barely -- or worse, not at all -- acknowledged.
  • Be kind to your fellow players, but know that in-character views are not their own out-of-character. Just because their character's rude to yours doesn't mean they themselves feel that way!
    • Do not skip over users who have you blocked or who you have blocked. Wait for someone else to respond to them before posting.
  • I supervise this thread as much as I can, but if you spot problems, please either DM or ping me.

"Wahhh... I give up!! Where are you..??"

The two spirit children had decided to play a game of hide-and-seek together to pass the time, but May hadn't anticipated that she would be this bad at it... It had been almost an hour, and she had searched nearly the whole area! She even phased into nearby houses and flew above the tops of trees to try and find the other girl, yet no matter what, she never seemed to have any luck. That big pink bow was nowhere to be seen. With a sigh, she dropped to the ground and sat next to a kid's playhouse in some random backyard. For a moment, she forgot she was currently in the mortal realm where she couldn't physically touch anything, rather than her home in heaven, so when she leaned back to rest her head on the side of the small building, her head phased through it. She panicked for a second, before realizing she had just come face to face with the girl she had spent so long trying to find.

"Ah..! You were here all along..?! Um.. I take back the giving up thing, so can we say that I won this time?"

Tarus ArtisticTiger

Tarus was pretty familiar with spirits since his wife works with the paranormal and stuff. Still he wasn’t expecting a spirit to haunt his piano of all objects. He noticed the instrument wasn’t working properly and attempted to tune it. He struggled to find the cause of the problem for several minutes. He hadn’t noticed May hiding in it. He nearly fell off his chair when he spotted the ghost child’s eyes peeking at him from inside the piano. When he realized it was a child ghost, he calmed down. “Hello there little one, don’t worry I’m a nice monster. I won’t harm you.” He smiled and tucked his tendrils into his back. “I’m sorry if I scared you. Would you like to play a tune with me?” He smiled as May shyly nodded and floated out of the piano. After properly tuning the piano, he played a few songs with the young spirit. Time passed and Tarus yawned tiredly. “Well it’s very late, I have a big day tomorrow. Thank you for not breaking my piano.” Tarus stretched and said goodbye to May before heading upstairs for bed.

Maribelle Burnett Vapor

Maribelle had been patrolling the perimeter outside the base for an hour now, sluggishly kicking into her horse's sides with the heel of her boot. She almost didn't notice Tarus. He blended in well enough with the dullness of the canyon, but it was the slightest movement that made her realize that she was not alone.

Warily, she peered over, and then back in the direction she came from. The rest of her group couldn't have gone far, all splitting up to see if they could find anything or anyone else of interest. It looked like she "won", though, she thought bitterly as she tugged on her horse's reins, peering into the dead shrubs where the monster hid. Now that she thought about it, she had to inwardly scold himself. Tarus really did stick out like a sore thumb.

She then turned to call over her shoulder, "Rainier! Sterling! Get over here! I found someone stalking!"

She turned to close in on Tarus, trying to trap him against the canyon wall. Then, she addressed him curtly, "State your business. State it carefully. Else, you'll find none of us take well to trespassers."

He charges past the position and spot she'd hidden in, completely oblivious that she had managed to sink herself into the trunk of a tree. Chainsaw revving, he hastily looks around the grouping of forest, checking up and down the three paths he *didn't* come from. Thus far, there was no sign of her, be it footprints or running form. This was both a good and bad thing for him, as he'd done his job of getting her off his family's property, but had failed in actually catching her. Allowing the weapon to die down, he stands in the newfound silence of the area they share, listening intently to any crunch of fall leaves beneath her boots or whimper from her lips. She was young, and even the older men and women had a hard time keeping their tears locked away whenever he chased them throughout these woods.

"I know you're out there!" He bellows with a curled lip. "Th'fuck you hidin' for, hah!? I'll find you eventually!"

It was quite a bluff to declare, as he'd grow bored and too agitated to keep searching within a frame of ten or so minutes. Then Maribelle would be free to escape.

Gears ⚙️ ArtisticTiger

The mechanic workshop was dark, except for the dim ceiling lights above. They flickered on and off every now and then. It was very late and past her curfew. Gears had snuck back home from a night of midnight shopping. Her father always warned her bro to shop at the sketchy stores downtown, especially at night. But she needed some fresh air after being sick at home. Gears was usually attuned to the sounds and sights of her home. But now she sensed something was off. Her companion bot Bric was dozing and recharging. Not like he could do much to protect her. He was only built for friendship. So Gears pulled out her triple gear wrench, the tool that earned her her nickname. She clenched it as kicked aside some cardboard boxes. The empty boxes slid across the floor softly. Puck had jumped up from behind her and startled her. Gears whipped around and smacked him in the nose with the tool in her hand. She wiped the blood off the tool onto her pants and glared at Puck though the dim lighting. “My father doesn’t like intruders. You should leave. I’m his most precious possession, but I’m not going down without sounding the alarm first.” Gears tossed the wrench at a cowbell nearby. The old rusty cowbell made a haunting wailing noise, almost as if it was possessed. “You have 15 seconds to act before my dad or his security bots arrive.” Warned Gears, all this time her tone was surprisingly calm and collected. Perhaps she had rehearsed this?

Tel E. Mark-it EggSalt

...That was a teenager. In the shop that he was currently help clean out. Well. That was unusual. Typically it was a toon or two hiding out to try and take back these shops but--- not today. Behind a potted plant sat Gears, staring up from her seated position at Tel.

In response, he simply blinked, glancing at the door, then at the hiding spot. Then back to the door.

...How did she get in here with nobody noticing? Did everyone ignore her up until this point? ...Was she maybe supposed to be here and no one told him?

No that couldn't be right. Invited guests or officials wouldn't hide behind potted plants and then look like a deer-in-headlights when caught. Err...what was the protocol for something like this? He couldn't use standard toon protocol for this...

"...How." Was really the first word Tel could think of, "And...Why. I suppose is my second question. How did you get in, and why are you hiding?"

"...Who even are you?"

Tel isn't one to hide unless he's injured or glitching out somewhat. Self preservation and what-not.

edit: I LOVE UR OC?!!? DINOSAUR...

Stanza JadeWizard

That was not the best hiding place, though Stanza supposed there was not any good hiding spots out in the wastes to begin with. A large bolder was better than nothing else out here.

From where Tel sat he was but a speck on the horizon to her physical eyes. Despite how far it was she would've still been able to crain her neck around to face him, but there was no way to do so without scaring the living daylights out of him in the process. No matter as she could see him perfectly fine in her minds eye. He seemed a bit vexed and perhaps injured in some way, Stanza was not sure what exactly was wrong with him, she would need to look into him in a bit. Still she began to siphoned her healing magic in an attempt to help the poor mortal.

"Do not be afraid, dear." She communicated with him telepathically, "I am a friend to all. I do not know of how you got here, but you may rest for however long you need. I will watch over you till you are ready."

I have no idea how this skyscraper of a dinosaur could hide, but knock yourself out.

(I usually don't do species, but I'll do this one)

(by the way, I'm bassing this situation on Alexander's past relationship issues and troubles on this one)

Night time, walking back home on a slightly rainy night. The rain didn't catch enough yet to wet but it was starting to. Passing by a street aley between two buildings he heard a strong metalic thud of comming from it, possibly from a garbage bin. This startled gray, "hello?!" He couldn't see anything from where he was, slowly entering it and looking in silence, trying to hear. "Is there anyone here??" The sound made it seem as if something big enough was capable to do it, definitely not being a rat or a cat, which made gray want to offer help in case it was someone. Getting closer to some place, he heard a noise again. As if the fact of him getting closer to who ever that was made them move again. He could spot the place of the noise, meing able to see a leg hiding behind a garbage container with its door open back, making a ceiling for who ever was in there. He went there gently, and crouched. Making himself visible and with noticeable concern and care "oh... there...". He took a glance at Alexander, scaning his state and adabting his own body language to the situation. Alexander was trembling and seemed traumatised, with a leg cut recently done and his hair all revolved. He was backing away and rejecting personal approach from anyone, he seemed to just have gone through something... Or someone. What was clear is that he seemed to have escaped and have no place to be. "Oh there... Are you alright? Do you need any help?" Gray offered the help imediately, knowing Alexander clearly needed it "you do... Look-" he tried to approach a bit but Alexander backed away, refusing the proximity. Gray too quickly retired the action and put more distance in concern. "Okay, stay here... I will call for some help for you, okay?" He said this with sympathy, now proceeding to go look for the help.

graystreet003 (something lighthearted!! not too long but should meet thread requirements- hope thats ok!)

"OK!!! I'M GONNA FIND YOU NOW!" Oni had somehow convinced the gentleman to play a game of hide and seek with him. Likely just some of his 'youthful charm' I mean! He's so excited! How could you say no!

Oni fumbled around foolishly trying to find Gray... for someone so enthusiastic about the game he was- not to talk down about him... shoddy at it to say the least. There's no way a grown man could hide behind a lamp post that thin- ahh. shoot.

This might take a bit...

Korrina Voridis Vapor

Korrina, not so unobservant, found it easy to notice Onigiri slipping away. The problem was now that, well, that was all she had. Him slipping away. A mariner like himself concealing himself in such a way -- a way that was childish and she felt was unbefitting of any proper rank -- was of course new to her, but she hadn't paid it any mind until the riverboats were prepared to leave. He would miss it, she fretted, and so...

Well, obviously she was in no shape to go looking for him herself. One of the attendants she oft had with her, a golden-haired maid some years younger than Onigiri, she assigned to the task. It was a simple display of concern, Korrina thought, having no interest to make the journey on her own, but just enough of a display to... to make an attempt. Maybe. Besides, to keep watch over such a massive family, to take into consideration and mull over their power, it was something she needed.

So, there Korrina remained at the dock. At the corner of her eye, she saw Onigiri, and greeted him kindly. "Captain, it is a pleasure." she spoke, "I saw you training earlier, but surely you wouldn't have noticed someone like me. Soon enough, the people will start down the free river..." She met his gaze and smiled. "And you will be back on true water. Oh, how I miss that. How lucky of you, no?"

Four "Mine" Aloofcloud

A woman with long brown locks stood among the crowd in the sweltering hot sun.  The people were loud, chatting amongst themselves merrily as the festivities continued.  Mine had found herself at a soiree of sorts, invited by one of her previous clients who had now married— a typical circumstance for those who had employed her.  Mine accepted every invitation she was given, typically being touched by the gesture to be invited — but the woman was finding herself regretting that choice as not only was the heat irritating, but so was the brightness of the sun.

Mine wanted reprieve from the onslaught of the sun, and as it would turn out she wasn't the only one.  When the woman sought to hide out in an currently vacant club house, she spotted another guest who had hidden away, just as she was planning to do.  The woman wore a beautiful purple silk dress, a blue sash around the waist.  Mine's light doe brown eyes, met Korrina's dark brown doe eyes.  At first, Mine was silent, exchanging knowing glances with Korrina before a quick glance to the crowd just outside.

It wasn't long until Mine decided to be the first one to speak up, "Do you mind if I hang here for awhile— it's uh...a little miserable outside."  Mine was nervous, as she was with all strangers she met, it was evident by the way she'd avoid eye contact while talking.
