Fave Character from the Person Above You - Bio Ver

Posted 3 years, 2 months ago (Edited 2 years, 9 months ago) by celestiials

Hi, there! This just works like those "favorite character of the person above" threads but it's mainly oriented around character profiles. For the most part, this works like other variations! Here are the rules:

  • Despite the name of the thread, mentioning design is allowed! However, mentioning design only is not allowed as the thread revolves around profiles.
  • Do NOT insult other people's characters. If I see someone insulting characters or whatnot, they will be banned immediately.
  • For now, I'm not sure how big this will be? So I'm going to say that please only go once every 3 people until 24 hours pass; in that case, you can go again.
    • This rule is subject to change if the game becomes more popular than I anticipated.
  • If the person above you asks to pick from a specific folder/tag, please obey that!
    • NEW - (Don't worry, this hasn't happened! This is just a precaution) If you link a folder or tag however, please make sure that the next poster has enough choice; aim for around 6 characters, at the minimum.
  • Please, please be fair! You do not have to write a lot if the above person wrote a lot. However, I will not tolerate one-sentence posts. The basic rule of thumb is that you should try to write a claim that you yourself would like to receive! I've decided that the minimum sentence count for this thread is 3 sentences.
    • Exception to the 3 sentence rule: If the character bios are too short, then you will not be penalized for writing less than 3 sentences! That being said, do not go out of your way to pick a shorter bio solely for the purpose of not writing something thoughtful.
    • That being said, please pick characters with longer profiles whenever possible.
  • Claiming is obviously allowed given the nature of the game, but please don't leave it unattended for more than ~6 hours! If you do so, you will be skipped. I will send a ping if I see that your post has been left alone for 1 hour.

Aaaaand that's it! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. I'll claim the first poster! ^^

*Claims the first spot*

I know you were claimed me but I just want to give a special shout Out to Stephen, i just love his backstory all in all. The first sentence really draws you in and I got more intrigued by the time I was done. I'm just a sucker for angels that are half human and I just love how he got into heaven. His story is definitely a 10/10 in my book.

(Also I love the folder name wksndin)

celestiials

^ You didn't have to claim me??? Thank you so much though, Stephen's my sona and he means a lot to me- 😭

(I went into the chips flavoring tag since that seems to be characters you like more? Do let me know if you wanted me to write about other characters though)

Anyways, I was really drawn to Idol! (must have been the pink hair haha-) When I got around to reading her bio, I found myself really liking the duality between her "Idol" persona and her "Jess" persona; the "broken idol" trope(? is that a trope) is also done really well here, as it really makes me feel really bad for her aaaaaa ;; The way she has a different outfit for singing darker songs was a thing that stood out to me too.

@ NP, please choose anyone from here!

Don't worry, that was fine!! And thank you for the comments ;o;

Wolfbat

((Hopefully I'm doing this right because the link went to all characters instead of a singular folder so I hope you didn't have a specific folder in mind >///<))

Ok so I was originally going to choose "Vox" because he reminds me a tiny bit of one of my own OCs. But I decided to go for Luna. I looked at all of their icons and clicked on ones who's designs stuck out to me and if they had a decent length bio I would decide between them.

Luna's mentioned "appears cold to others" thing and poor social skills resonated with me. I myself feel that I appear cold to others and I too have very poor social skills and trouble recognizing others emotions. I enjoy that she seems to have hope still despite having been through what she's been through.

@ NP please avoid the TBN folder, they're just designs.

Sorry, I got a bit distracted >///<. Those two I actually bought as a pair because of their backstory! I've been really into paranormal investigation style shows for a while now and I wanted to write a short story depicting a paranormal investigation team and their camera crew investigating ghosts there and how Edward and Belle would interact with them. It hasn't happened yet because I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to do the characters justice and have actually considered adopting them out to someone who could do them justice and handle them respectfully with regards to the sensitive topics in their histories but at the same time I'm reluctant to do so, so they just sit there. I'm glad you like him though, I'm always terrified that darker topics will drive people away.

EDWARD! not only do i love his design? (which, i would fucking die for because i love darker colour schemes and stuff) but my favourite characters are .. the awful ones. awful in a sense of being absolute jerks and douche bags.
his little backstory with belle is .. so dark and creative? he's portrayed like an absolute villain, and i love villains to no end .. its perfect.

also .. he's a ghost. ghost ocs make me happy. i would die for edward even though he could like, kill me instantly.

please stick to death conspiracy or sonas! everyone else doesn't have a bio!

(Aaaaaaa sorry if this isn't the best!! ;;)

After looking through your characters, I found myself mostly drawn to DMT for some reason! Also in general Death Conspiracy sounds really interesting as a story but this isn't "Praise the story above you" sdrgbhdrgvsedvft

Anyways, I like how despite the fact that he's in a literal black metal band, he's still afraid of death but is in fact also quite nice; I find the contrast funny and somewhat ironic but that aside, it's an interesting twist! The fact that he's also really talkative and impulsive and even though he is kind, he may come across as annoying was also a thing that stood out to me; generally characters that come across as unlikeable but do mean well are characters that tend to be (externally) jerks (don't get me wrong i love this trope haha) so this trait caught my attention. Reading about the fact that he got killed by another bandmate also kind of made me curious if there was any link between his personality or if he just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... also I'm curious about his interactions with his other bandmates! The Trivia is also really interesting, the fact that he likes taxidermy stood out to me the most as generally that kind of thing isn't brought up at all.

Overall his bio really drew me into the story, and he's an interesting character! Maybe someday I'll read more about the other bandmates-

I linked a tag the last time, so what about a folder this time? (Characters either in the main folder or subfolders are fine)

Edit: Aaaaaaa thank you ;; To be fair I have been thinking about making spotlight stories for characters in that folder but still, thank you!!

Okay, a more general remark: I love that you used the demons of the Goetia and made them look unique even when they conform to certain principles that hold up for the "species" as a whole. That's a nice touch.

My favorite has to be Gremory. To hope, to pray that maybe the future you were seeing was just inaccurate, only to find it was real? To not only predict your lover's death, while being unable to predict the moment of your own fall? To take Vice by the hand to make a contract, only to be stricken by Heaven's wrath? To not remember her lover's face or voice, but only the memories they had together, resulting in Vepar striking only as familiar? That hits a lot of notes with me, I love those sorts of plots.

I know her folder mentioned she wouldn't fit in with the bigger picture, but I can see a little side story for Gremory, like a journey to reconcile her past with the person she is; on the other end of it, Vepar's own feelings for Gremory have to be looked at too after her fall (or does she even know Gremory fell too? oh gosh). Gosh. Sorry, I'm a romantic.

Okay, I know half of these don't have Picrews, but here's a tag with my characters who have full-on profiles.

ETA: I've been bumping this thread for a day and haven't even responded to your post, I'm so sorry.
Anyway, I'm glad! Daedalus was a rebooted/remade boy I kept having trouble finding a place for until this point, so I'm glad this new place seems to fit him pretty well.

I really like Xenophon! I was instantly fascinated by the fact that his species' technological advances ended up affecting their evolution and giving them weak organs that they replace with more tech: it's such a powerful way to open a character profile, and makes me instantly invested in the worldbuilding and the way evolution went for this race; how old they are as a race and how they might interact with less technologically advanced ones.

What I also enjoy is the fact that even though the profile starts off with this very broad scifi worldbuilding, the character himself is actually very rooted to more "mundane" reality and is also a teenager! His profile really revolves around his difficult upbringing and constantly switching schools and how these have affected him, and in a way it's really refreshing to see a more scifi-oriented character dealing with daily life rather than a grand cosmic war or something? Like, those are awesome too, but this approach definitely makes him memorable at least to me!

Though his profile is relatively short (I feel like I have rambled here more than what his profile has text, oops!) but I think it manages to give out a lot of information about him, his background, his race and even of the world which is nothing short of impressive! And it also leaves the reader with a lot of questions that keep them invested, like why exactly his horn was severed and what led to him switching homes so often. Especially if he's part of a story you're writing etc I think his profile really piques the reader's interest to know more!

VVVVV

Aaahh thank you so much, I actually edited Amor's bio just today; before that it was in the unfinished folder hehe! I'm planning on doing a proper overhaul on them later with likely the mysteries being revealed (they were originally a cs mascot so I kept the lore super vague despite knowing it myself) but since I no longer run the group I want to let Amor's full story be shown too!

As for the question, I imagine Amor was initially curious to see how it would play out? Like, obviously it sucks being captured and they were pissed, but they're also very old and curious about human life so I guess they probably hoped the royalty (a prince in this case) would have a change of heart. But he didn't and continued ignoring Amor's wise advice and kept acting entitled, so eventually Amor left and took a little bite of him as a parting gift :)

Wolfbat

I'm so sorry for how long this claim took! Anyways, I know they're close to the top, but Amor just stood out to me. I'm not entirely sure why they did but it's the truth. Something made me click on them.

I really enjoyed the lore behind Amor. An unknown background with a potential human past but again, it's unknown! Plus the trivia with others thinking that Amor is just a part of a family that looks very similar but actually not and just being a very old member of their species that some might just think of as a myth if Amor didn't still make appearances. Plus the fact that Amor reminds me a bit of the Greek myth centaur Chiron who was known for being wise and taught humans, sharing his knowledge with them a bit like Amor does. But Amor also reminds me a bit of the Rumpelstiltskin story in that everything Amor gives in knowledge seems to have a price, much like how Rumpelstiltskin has a price for everything he does. I just find the similarities interesting. I know the 'other species being captured and then the pet of royalty' is a somewhat common trope but it's one that I find interesting to explore, how were they treated?, how did they get free?, etc. So I find that interesting in Amor too. Overall I think that Amor is a well rounded character with a hint of mystery and I really like that!

NP please avoid the TBN folder and Animals folder, they're mostly designs

Wolfbat Sorry for the ping, but have you finished your claim? It's been an hour and 30 minutes.

v Oh ok, I see! Hope you feel better soon ;;

(NP please claim Wolfbat, skip me)

cracks my knuckles. I really enjoy Indiana as a character. his personality is really enjoyable to me- he's very similar to a lot of my own favourite OCs to write for or favourite canon characters, so no surprises there, but he's also just. really nicely written. he's solidly real and believeable as a real person, he's complex and multidimensional in a way that makes me just that little bit more invested in his story + him as a character. there's a lot I can relate to in there, and I love that. I feel like a lot of OCs can sometimes feel two dimensional (my own included this is a self roast) but he absolutely stands out in that he feels like someone I would meet irl.

you can look at all my characters but I have a lot and not all of them have profiles so if you want a more narrow selection these kids are generally more fleshed out (with a few exceptions OTL im sorry my organisation is b ad)

swirltraveler

Okay, so I was reading bios and then I spotted the profile picture for Corvus. I thought, huh, I'm not surprised because of the user cryptocorvid, but that picture had me curious. A guy and his crows ravens.

When I began reading, I noticed there wasn't a detailed backstory, but what was there had me hooked. The Grim Reaper, with the alias of "The Raven"? Cracking under the pressure of such a duty? Being helped by a girl who's too interested in death for her own good? A being of such supernatural responsibility running and seeking something more mundane, more human? I'd read this if it was a book. Just those hints of the plot had me very interested.

He's understandably extremely affected by what he'd once been and what he'd done, and it's portrayed realistically. Constantly paranoid, defensive, but only actually opening up to the people he trusts? Finding socialization a challenge, but at the same time, curious beyond belief? Intelligent but with the common sense of a brick? He'd be a great protagonist for a story. The fact that he's so squeamish about the things he must do for his job makes it ten times funnier, but also pretty saddening for the guy. You hate seeing dead things? Welcome to the life of the Grim Reaper, have fun.

The struggle of being inhuman being brought down to both human and mortal levels is also such a nice point to touch on, and "he doesn't have a problem, you have a problem" gave me a smile. It tells me that you had a lot of fun writing him out.

Half of these don't have Picrews, but here's a tag with my characters who have full-on profiles. Alternatively, here's everybody with profiles AND icons.

ETA: Thank you! Honestly, Kyrie was made to be a very self-indulgent character, so I'm glad people like what I have for him. I...still need to upload things for Sister Freya and other members of the Society.

celestiials

Not gonna lie, I was immediately drawn to Kyrie while browsing through; the horns and eye scar really caught my attention! I just think demons/demonic characters are neat drlkhlfgthgyh

That aside, I found him a very interesting character; right from the moment I started reading, his occupation as a hunter of hostile angels/demons piqued my interest. I really love the lore you have for this story, the Society of the Adamant Earth sounds really neat and I'd like to read more about it! That aside, an organization preventing both sides of a celestial/infernal conflict from trying to claim Earth is such a cool idea, especially since usually characters like Kyrie hunt only demons. Anyways, I'm curious what Sister Freya saw in Kyrie that most other people would have shunned, but continuing on; I also like his personality, personally I always just really love chaotic characters haha but I think it's interesting that despite his overall good alignment, he wants to be praised for his work and is described as a monarch. Usually good characters are humble, so that stuck out to me.

ALSO I forgot to mention this at first, but Kyrie's "true form" sounds super cool! The description really brings to mind just what kind of horror supernatural forces beyond our wildest dreams can be, and it makes me wonder what angels and demons really look like or if it's just exclusive to Kyrie himself-

Overall, Kyrie was just a really interesting character! ^^

Am still in a Lemegeton mood so anybody here (any folder is ok); alternatively anybody here (tag) if nobody in the folder catches your eye-

v Late edit but thank you-
