v It comes from two things actually! 1, it is a shortened version of the word Specimen. 2, it is shortened version of Speck, which is bacon in German!
I'm sure we've all got an OC with an interesting reason behind their name, yeah? Maybe it means something cool in another language, maybe it's an inside joke between friends, maybe it comes from a song lyric that impacted you, or maybe it's just vibes! I love hearing about how people named their characters or why they named them the way they did, so here's a chance to show that off!
The game here is simple: someone will post their OC, and the next person will try to guess what the inspiration or reason for the name was!

Clover leaves are often considered a symbol of luck, yet a skim of the backstory seems to imply this character has very bad luck. Was the name meant to be a sort of cruel irony?
v Good guess, that's pretty close! My friend suggested the name because he mainly uses knives as weapons, so yeah, you could say he "carves" people up, haha.
Is Carver named after a killing method? Like, he would carve out his victims and the name is more of a title than anything?
v Oh never, Kip is completely original. I chose the name Alternate because she is a counterpart to an already existing OC of mine and is basically an alternate version of her.
I have zero knowledge on Fallout, but is this Kip an alternate form or incarnate of an existing Kip?
omg I can totally see the resemblance lol, it would sound like something he might hum to himself! but the name is based on a made up nursery rhyme my dad used to sing to be when i was really little called "skinny-malinky-long-legs" (the main verse is in his bio!)

v It is close! She has trouble pronouncing her actual name since she is young, so she instead shortens it to Pie!
I'm guessing because it sounds very similar to "lumière" ( light in french)??? I could see deeper reason like the name having some kind of mythological backstory or whatever but I'll stay on my first guess lol
