I thought this would be a fun thread idea and I wasn't sure where it would go, but I thought why not make it in the game forums bc why not I guess (I really don't know which forum this would actually go in)
But yeah, pretty much a better explanation than the title explains and more in depth, what's the weirdest and/or worst things you've ended up looking up for the sake of an OC's backstory, personality, things they do, or for the sake of accuracy for a character, story, or plot?
Even though this is a pretty chill thread, there's bound to be some RULES:
- NO INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE (PLEASE NO SWEARING)
- NO INAPPROPRIATE/NSFW THINGS EITHER, SERIOUSLY ( N O N E )
- NO STARTING FIGHTS WITH OTHERS HERE PLEASE

You can post IC if you want to show what character it was for or not, it's completely optional (but do leave a trigger warning in your comment if the character's profile might have anything that someone might find triggering).
I'll start to give an example:
For a character I'm still working on design-wise, she's a Tea Scholar. She also ends up fatally poisoning one or two other people. Due to this, part of my search history now consists of searching for poisonous types of flowers and plants that can, as well as the history of belladonna and how it was used way back in history by assassins, along with a list of all the fatal ones on my phone so I don't forget the names of them.
“Georgian era childhood illnesses” for him…… been looking for ones that are not outright fatal if left untreated. I’ve seen too many pictures of rashes in the last couple days 😰

I got caught in 12th grade in the communications tech class computer lab by the teacher intern while looking up how much blood a person can lose before they get some major consequences, and had to explain that it was because I was sending Lorentz to the hospital with a bleed, and not for any nefarious reasons. I don't know if any of my other searches were weirder or more damning than that, but this was the one that stands out to me, because it's the only one I think I've ever had to explain.
I desperately tried to look up if spiders have fingerprints, but search engines weren't cooperating with me. Kept giving me search results with every single word separated, not in the order to answer my question.
This is because I wanted the magical girl powers to have identity masking. I eventually gave up searching and just made fingerprints disappear from surfaces really fast.
how does it look and feel if you cut into an arm with a sword? (answer: Not Good, it can HURT and be really bloody - but at least she wasn't crushed or burnt by it, i suppose) (TW if you click on the website for graphic(?) descriptions of wounds caused by swords & working with them)
what do soldiers do apart from the obvious main job? (this was for her older sister. answer: couldn't find anything, it was all just army propaganda - but we decided on her older sister scouting the borders of her country in addition to the main job. she also ran a prison that isri landed herself in, since she was a high-ranking commander!)
