General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 7 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Honestly I'm not sure, I personally wouldn't since there was no TOS at the time. But others might have better input on it.

oop oki ty for the inputs! my brain was too OOOH PRETTY… to be smart but i’ll hold off since the possible complications arent worth it   ty ty!!

hii can i get a 2nd opinion on whether an adopt artist on dA looks legit or no?

context i found an artist yesterday and im interested in 3 of their designs from previous batches. i noted them to ask if they were all still available and they replied with yes, immediately along with the total cost and 2 paypal emails. one being theirs and the other, their friend’s (saying - to quote - “if your payment does not go through, here is my European friend’s PayPal, everything should be fine with his account”)

i got the idea to crosscheck on TH to see if anyone has bought their design and uploaded it here. main reason was because the designs uploaded on DA is lowres and has a manually drawn white blob frame thingy that kinda obstructs the edges of the design, so i wanna see if buyers gets a clean highres file or not (after checking, it seems like they do!).

surprisingly i saw one of the design i was interested in already uploaded here (highres transparent file). i noted the artist immediately and they replied saying they forgot about the sale and didn’t know why it wasn’t marked as claimed yet. they also rechecked their sales and said the other 2 designs i was interested in are available. i read the note but didnt reply, then they sent 2 more notes a few minutes apart. the 1st saying they have another batch they plan to upload today that i can see in advance if i want to, and 2nd note being a link to said batch despite me not having replied anything yet.

since that note i sent, they’ve commented on the adopt post and added a “CLAIMED” note for that design, but there’s also another design i know has been bought but still doesn’t have the claimed comment until now (i didnt note them about that 2nd design already having a toyhouse profile too)

the above got me feeling a bit sus but i do really love the designs… is this a case of me being uneccessarily paranoid or is it warranted? i can share the dA user privately via DM if you’d like to take a look yourself! (feel free to ping/shoot me a DM)

glizzrybear its probably best not to buy from them, even if theyre not doing this maliciously it still shows as a sign of poor management and they might just forget that theyve sold adopts to you as well which will then end up in a lot of duplicate sales.. i just dont really see a need for you to go through all of that headache once an issue arises. other people might not look into it the same way you did and they could unwillingly buy the adopts that youre also about to buy right now, and you two may never even find out about the fact that two people own the same character if theyre not on toyhouse as well

customSHOP appears to be accepting keychain commissions from people and ordering their keychains from aliexpress listings like https://a.aliexpress.com/_mO1D2XQ

they do not state this anywhere, and they do not answer to people asking how the keychains are made. they are also deleting comments that claim they are a suspicious seller

they even use an image from the aliexpress listing on the avatar of https://toyhou.se/25095757.custom-keychains-cheap

they have also blocked users that comment about suspicions, which only continues to make them more suspicious

there seems to be a price difference as well between the original listing and the toyhouse post, but im not sure how aliexpress pricing truly is so i cant say for sure if theyre not equal

honestly, this wouldnt really be that big of a problem if they simply stated where the keychains where coming from

Cosmind

darthvader the user seem to have deleted the old listing you linked and uploaded new ones https://toyhou.se/25164014.custom-keychain-charms

here's the ticket link in case they try to change username too https://toyhou.se/~tickets/create/user/539369

Public PSA for https://toyhou.se/peppermintful_hater stealing characters and selling them for USD !! you can see their comments on my profile as I bought one from them and deleted it after talking to the real designer who provided proof they made it!! You can look at their page to see everything

I would go ahead with the chargeback. It is not your responsibility to seek out the artist when they fail to keep in contact with you. That is a lot of money, and if the artist didn't want to risk a chargeback they should have popped in and explained the delay. Pleassse do not feel guilty, you paid for a service and did not receive it.

Vossed

teratris I would definitely recommend joining the Discord server to see if they are active there! I understand being nervous but you are entitled to some kind of communication from them especially after hearing from another commissioner that communication has been stagnant. Also if you open the chargeback remember you can always close it if the artist reaches back out and gives you a genuine update! It's better to file it than to miss out on the only opportunity to get your money back TwT

Vossed

teratris That's fair I can see why you'd be hesitant to join the server then!

As for the chargeback I believe there is a way to contact the artist through PayPal directly but I haven't done so without first having filed the chargeback. Also yes if you open the chargeback and then close it prematurely you will not be able to open another one for that exact claim. I would highly recommend not closing the chargeback until you have a sketch from the artist because they could easily lie and say they'll work on it and then when you close the chargeback they ghost you again :(

Vossed

teratris No problem! I've been in a similar situation myself but the artist did turn out to be a scammer so it's always better to be safe than sorry especially with a commission worth that much! I hope you're able to get your art though!
