EDIT 3: please consider voting here to try and help prevent the account permalink from being removed

EDIT 2: link to a comment regarding site ownership to avoid misinformation- thank you Kaiju, I should have added this sooner

EDIT: I keep forgetting to say, I am a minor (barely, I'll be turning 18 in early may) but due to this I cannot see any of the responses from 18+ accounts

I had originally posted this in the general and off topic forum but I was told this is PSA adjacent enough to be posted here as well!

As I said in the other thread, I know this isn't what people are wanting to hear, but I hope it at least relieves some users worries about the site being shut down. Also despite this be sure to backup your ocs elsewhere (I personally use Google drive) it's a good habit and will drastically minimize the likelihood of losing your stuff

Also I might not reply to much here, I have really bad anxiety LOL just posting in this forum has me shaking 😭

Honestly it's a good thing i keep my OC info along with my OC art mainly on my laptop since that way i have access to it anytime, tho i should probably do a back up of the OC info on Google drive just in case

This is also why i decided to keep track of the OG creator of OCs i adopt, so that i can credit them and i don't have a similar situation to last time where i don't even know who created the characters i adopted (whoops >-<)

(This also is probably the only post in this sub forum that i'll comment on)

Thank you for being brave enough to reach out! At least we know the admin is listening to our concerns

I feel like admin/s should really consider at least taking in volunteer mods for now. To at least to give them a hand in the HelpDesk with maybe organizing the tickets by type and clearing the backlog. I know it's probably hard to get mods bc the HelpDesk has sensitive information, but at least anything related to bugs could maybe be handled by a volunteer group so that the admin/s would only need to focus on the other tickets. Bugs can be placed on a Trello for priority but also some bugs just, dissapear with time or are for ex, things the admin doesn't plan to do atm (like adding a certain bootstrap release). So just closing those tickets or anserwing with "you can fix this like this" (I'm sure some users thought a wrongly written code is a bug, it happens) I think would be a huge help...

IDK, I use TH since 2019 and I love the site. If admins were to open up spots for volunteer mods of any type, I would love to help even with the smallest of things. I have backups of my OCs but I really enjoy the site.

^ I love Google drive for the fact that I can type out a whole doc about an oc and put it in their folder w their images

Want to save mostly stories, and don't care about gallery things or public? Use Obsidian. It looks a bit complex, but you can create notes and docs with Markdown formatting AND html/css. You can create graphs, see your files connected, create groups and download plugins to improve your experience even more. i've pretty much let go of google docs in trade for obsidian.

However, if you want to have something like toyhouse and share it with others... well, I think you'll have to start learning html and css and then make your own site on a host like neocities. It's scarier than it looks, learning to make your own site is a skill thats extremely useful and you'll never have to depend on toyhouse and social media again for portfolios or displaying information

just wanna second frogcroaks - obsidian is amazing, i use it for my character stuff and it can sync across devices if you get premium which is neat. i use it work on my phone to jot things down !! you do have to learn to use it to get full use of its features but that’s kinda how everything works i suppose

also re: the site admin has made their feelings known, this is their site that they made themselves and keep online for our benefit; they are not asking you to use it and their feelings are not hurt if you choose to leave. if they don’t find the suggestions feasible then like … it’s their decision getting offended or trying to argue back isn’t going to change anything. if the response is a deal breaker for you or you think th is doomed then look into leaving the site and finding an alternative that works for you.

frogcroaks is also correct that if you want a site like toyhouse that you run your own way, you can make your own site ! intimidating at first but learning to code has never been easier there’s so many resources and everything will be exactly what you want cuz it’s your site. you don’t even have to make a th, set up a personal character site just for yourself, you can easily host all your images and stuff there. it does take some time to learn but you’ll get results faster that way than trying to convince admin via help desk tickets and forum threads.
(i’m making my own little personal site slowly - for fun not cuz im mad about mods - and honestly it’s nice cuz the layout and how everything is presented is 100% whatever you want it to be you don’t have to work within the confines of toyhouse. back in my day before th existed it was common for people to make little personal sites like this, we can bring it back)

lets just make our own admin team atp 🙄
