Insecurities coming to light
(Gonna think of a better title and summary soon). Vaness had only said that comment about Rook to get Becca to see he would be the better boyfriend. It was obvious she didn't take it well but how bad would that comment affect her?
Chapter 1
If there was one thing Becca wasn’t good at, it was admitting how she felt. She was always the type to go along with what everyone else wanted, regardless of her opinion, even since she was a kid. That didn’t change now. Even as she was standing near the one person in NRC that creeped her out. Said person was Vaness, an Octavinelle second year that Becca ended up being around way more than she wanted.
He was so insistent that her boyfriend, Rook Hunt, was doing something she wanted to see. All that was happening was Rook cuddling a third year she was familiar with, sporting a big grin on his face. If anything, Vaness had more of a reaction to the scene than she did. Becca was used to Rook going off to cuddle with other people. He was just like that in general. She knew that even before dating him, even if it did cause her insecurities to flare up some days. That was just who Becca was though, a clumsy and insecure second year. Rook hadn’t done anything to fuel said insecurities.
“Becca, dear, how are you not reacting to this?” Becca cringed a little both at the nickname and the fact she could tell he was getting worked up. Why the Octavinelle student was getting worked up was something she didn’t know the answer to but maybe she could still calm him down. Key word maybe.
“Rook does this a lot. He’s like that.”
“You say that now, but how long until Rook breaks up with you? Or worse, says he loves you but is essentially off dating some other person.” Things had gone silent between the two and luckily for Becca, Rook and the person he was cuddling with were gone, presumably back to their dorms.
Realizing how late it was, Vaness turned away to go back to his dorm but he stopped when he realized Becca wasn’t moving from her spot. She didn’t show it on her face but the thought of NRC’s huntsman breaking up with her got to Becca a lot. The Pomefiore student couldn’t even think of why he would. She went along with literally everything, she made sure to never let him see her as anything less than happy… so why?
Noticing Becca lost in thought, he sighed and used his signature spell. Thinking about the huntsman was stressing her out and she needed to relax, away from anything relating to him. Although Becca’s mind was mostly blank as Vaness escorted her to his dorm, one thought managed to stick out.
The possibility of Rook breaking up with her just because he was tired of her. Something Becca knew was very real and extremely likely to happen.
