“So what is your favorite food,” the interviewer inquired.

Haru looked around, unsure if they actually wanted him to list…everything.

“Uh, do you want me to list all of my favorite foods to eat?”

“You can if you want to,” the interviewer replied.

“Alright, well, I’ll start off with ramen,” he answered with a smile.

“Really? Ramen?”

He nodded, then gave a shy if embarrassed smile, “I’m not that great at cooking, the only thing that I really know how to cook is ramen and eggs.”

“Really? That’s all you know how to cook?”

“I mean, I can reheat stuff in the microwave and I can make instant food or a sandwich, but actually cook without possibly burning down the house or dorm? Just ramen.”

“Did that actually happen?”

“What? Burning down the house or dorm,” Haru asked.

“Yeah, that.”

“Uh, no, but I did burn something and set off the fire alarms and the sprinklers once and ever since I’m not allowed to cook anything without one of my other group members.”

“So outside of ramen, what other food do you like?”

“Pizza, hamburgers and fries, kimchi, tteokbokki, bulgogi, gimbap…” Haru trailed off as he tried to remember what other food he liked, “oh! Ezekiel introduced me to these things called tater tots! Those are tasty.”

“Is that your favorite snack? Tater tots?”

Haru shook his head, “No, not at all, actually my favorite snack is dry, uncooked ramen where I just dump the spice packet in.”

The interviewer blinked rapidly in confusion, or perhaps surprise before at last saying, “Ramen, again?”

To which Haru just nodded, “Ramen, again.”
