Cart of Wonders | March 2020 (by BrynLison)

Rabbit wasn't even sure where she was now, she didn't care, Dakar was with her and they strode side by side through the blooming trees. Rabbit felt it was incredibly romantic, the spring air was crisp and started to smell of a rainy season coming. The seal bay stallion looked over to the smaller cremello mare, "Do you hear that?" he said as he swiveled his ears around as if trying to pinpoint the source. Rabbit stopped, her large ears slowly moving to find a sound, and.. she heard it. It was like.. faint music. Dakar and Rabbit looked at each other, how is there music? They had wondered if perhaps some humans were about, Dakar looked at Rabbit with a handsome grin, "We'll how about I go and investigate? If anything humans are good for a free meal," Of course he was joking, but that didn't stop Rabbit's face from turning a deep shade of pink under her creamy fur. The seal bay stallion trotted off, in his place Rabbit was joined by a silver-colored fox. "Oh it's you again," She said which made the fox chirp as he looked up at the taller equine. "We really should give you a name, I dislike calling you 'you', " The fox seemed to agree as he plunked his rump down on the ground, tail beating against the ground. Rabbit was deep in thought as she stared down at the fox, whose golden yellow eyes pierced into her own before she said aloud "How about Streak? Like... a streak of lightning," The fox seemed to consider this name for a few moments before shrugging. "You're right, we need a much better name than that," Rabbit said, pondering still on the fox's appearance for any inspiration. "Oh! I know!" She said gleefully, she was very happy with this name "How about Trace?" Again the fox made a face but he seemed to like this one a lot more than the last one Rabbit furrowed her brow, this fox super was picky, too bad she couldn't understand it. She was sure the fox had its own name in its own language. "Ok... how about....Ember? Jupiter?" The last name, that one had caused a spark int he fox's eyes. "Jupiter?" She repeated, which had the fox standing now, its tail swinging wildly back and forth. "Well then, that's what i'll call you," the cremello mare said with a small laugh and she booped her nose against the fox's head.

Rabit was wondering what was taking Dakar so long, surely he had found the source by now? She followed after where he had gone what must have been at least an hour ago. The sound of the music through the trees was haunting almost, but she kept her ears trained and followed it through the forest. Jupiter, of course, followed at her heels, crunching through the dead leaves and grasses under the brush. Rabbit stood behind a tall and thick bush as the music was loud now. She could hear voices too, it sounded like Dakar... and someone else? Had he found another traveling companion? A bolt of fear surged through her and she almost buckled under her own weight. She caught herself and shook her head, no Dakar wasn't like that. He was her friend and he loved her and she him as well. There was no way he would abandon her. She poked her head through the bush and was startled by the sight of.. a cart? And there in front of it was Dakar, conversing with Puck! The golden chestnut demigod must have noticed her as he locked eyes with her and said something to Dakar who turned to look as well. They were both chuckling now and she realized she was just poking her head out of the bush which must have looked silly. She felt her face flush with heat as she stepped through the bush with Jupiter trotting beside her for a moment before running towards Puck as if they were old friends. "Oho we meet again little mouse!" Puck said as she got closer "It's nice to see the whole you and not just a floating head," he said with a wink of his golden eye. "Oh, you two have met?" Dakar said, eyeing Rabbit suspiciously in a teasing way as he bumped her shoulder with his. She was sure her face was on fire now as she looked at Dakar. "Oh yes!" Puck said in a sing-song voice "I took her to my home and we got acquainted over a nice meal," Even he was taking a jab at her! The two stallions, of course, were laughing as she covered her face with her large ears.

After a few more minutes of laughter Puck finally settled himself before looking at the two of them, "Well since you've found my stall how about a gift?" Dakar looked puzzled and looked at Rabbit "A gift? But we don't have anything to trade," he said "Except maybe a nice fox fur," He said as he looked down at the now named fox, Jupiter. The fox made a hissing sound before hiding under Rabbit. "Shame on you! You can't trade Jupiter!," She said puffing up her chest. Dakar was chuckling as he gave her nose a gentle kiss "I'm only teasing, calm yourself," There was something in the way he said it, the way he looked at her that put her instantly at ease but she did give him a light kick with her hoof. Puck was watching the two of them with a knowing look "I know just what you need, but first, maybe you tell me your favorite numbers..." Dakar thought for a few moments before looking at the cart, then to Rabbit, then finally at Puck, "I think 8 is a good number," Almost fast as lightning Puck placed down a blue stone, it looked like a galaxy and seemed to move if you turned it a certain way "I think you'll find this Nebula stone to come in handy," Puck said with a chirp before looking over at Rabbit. She watched Dakar grab the stone in his mouth with a bit of an uncertain look, but instead placed the stone squarely between Rabbit's shoulders, using her stiff manes as a nest of sorts. Rabbit couldn't think it was too much pressure, what WAS her favorite number?! "200!" she blurted out without thinking, her face flaming hot now as she looked down embarrassed by her outburst. Puck was laughing and disappeared behind the cart for a good minute or two before coming back up and placing...and egg? on the countertop.b The egg was beautiful and looked like it had been dipped in Aether's coat. "I...I couldn't possibly," Rabbit said as she stared at the pretty thing. "Oh but you must! I insist!" Puck said as he pushed it closer. Rabbit wasn't going to pick it up but Dakar grabbed it off the counter and placed it also in her nest of manes between her sholders. "There we go, right at home there," Dakar chuckled as he looked at the cremello mare. "Yes, I suppose," she said with a whispy sigh. Puck seemed pleased and shooed them off "Ok lovebirds now take you're leave, everybody gets one!" He said this with a wink as they turned to leave "Thank you!" Rabbit called over her shoulder as she walked carefully with the two gifts nestled there.
