Out of Food - Hunting

Ash-rah yawned, stretching in her warm nest. She slowly blinked. Her stomach rumbled, making her get up. The other rabbits weren't awake so she quietly crept to the storage chamber. There, she found no food. Most of the time the three ate outside but there was supposed to be food stored so no rabbit had to go out alone to eat. She peeked out of the warren a few times, thinking about leaving. But she couldn't. Eventually her hunger got the better of her and she made her way to Toka's chamber.
"Toka, wake up," she whispered.
"What do you want now?" the old rabbit grumbled loudly.
"There's no food," the black rabbit said. Toka sighed then lay silently for a few moments.
"Go wake Bracken and we'll forage," she said, yawning halfway through. Ash-fur left to wake Bracken up. But he was already leaning out of his chamber, looking into the tunnels.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"We need to go forage," she replied. The two made their way past Toka, who was falling back to sleep. Bracken thumped the ground near the white-spotted rabbit's ear.
"Wake up sleepy head," he said. Toka's hazy brown eyes glared at him, but he quickly slipped away to catch up to Ash-rah.

The two young rabbits grazed on the sparse grass growing around the warren while they waited for Toka. They didn't talk to each other. Bracken seemed to concerned in eating to even look at Ash-rah. She felt maybe now would be a good time to talk about what happening during their digging, but decided against it. Didn't want Bracken to be too busy thinking about his problems instead of gathering. Toka emerged from the warren shortly after. They waited for her to eat. Wouldn't be fair to make her gather on an empty stomach, after all. None of the three were really filled, but at least it would keep the hunger pains away while they foraged. Toka looked up to see the two others waiting for her.
"Let's get going then," she said. The three made their way down to the clearing between Mistwood and Murky Lake. There, they split apart to forage but all were within vision and hearing range of each other. Bracken had found a patch of dandelions. He munched on their leaves then pulled up the remaining plants. Toka was gathering up some of the longer grass. When she was done she looked up to check on Bracken, and then Ash-rah. She quickly spat out the grasses when she saw Ash-rah sniffing at a tall star-shaped yellow flower.
"Ash-rah!" she yelled, sprinting over to the startled black rabbit.
"What is it?" the leader asked, laying low in the grasses as she looked around for elil.
"The flower," the brown rabbit panted, "you can't eat those."
After seeing no obvious danger, Bracken made his way over to hear about what was going on.
"Daffodils are toxic," she explained, "mostly the bulb but any of it can make you very sick."
"Thank you," Ash-rah said.
"She's not from around here," Bracken joined in, "maybe we should teach her what plants are dangerous here?"
"I forgot," Toka said, "but hyaones let us refill the warren."

Toka went back to sniff around for her grasses. The very faint scent of pfeffa still lingered, but it had moved on by now. Bracken started to return to the patch of dandelions, but noticed Ash-rah seemed lost. He was about to turn around until he saw her start to gather clovers. The doe lifted her head to see him watching. Unsure what to do, he quickly nodded to let her know that she was fine with clovers. Clovers were familiar to her; she was fed them sometimes at the farm. She thought about how much she missed that place, until she came out of her daze to see her two friends waiting for her. Ash-rah shook her head and hopped over to them, before the three made their way back to the warren together. They did a few more trips to build up a decent supply in the chamber. When she ran out of clovers, Ash-rah started to copy what the other two were taking back, luckily having no near accidents with anymore dangerous plants.
