I

The Mothcat and the Bumblebun went to sea

On a beautiful pea-green noodle,

They took some honey, and plenty of money,

And Babbette’s very best apple streudel.

The Bun gazed at the Mothcat, that handsome feline,

And sang to the tune of cicadas,

“O elegant Haru! O Haru, so fine,

  You’re charming—yes, truly grade-A,

  Grade-A,

  Grade-A!

  So charming! Yes, truly grade-A!”

II

Haru said to the Bun, “You’re...number one?

  How—urp—nicely you sing… I… guess?

But you want us to what? Oh no, I’m gonna—ugh

I can’t rhyme. Just bring me a bucket.”

The Bun fluttered away, through the warm ocean spray,

To the boat, with its whole awful crew.

And there on the deck, trying to keep them in check,

Was Samphire yelling “HEY YOU!

  YEAH, YOU!

  AND YOU,

  AND TISIAS, ESPECIALLY YOU!”

III

“Dear Sam, if you please,” the Bun said to appease,

“May I have that bucket?”   “Sure, okay—uh,

Wait a minute,” said Sam, “‘Cuz it’s all full of chum.”

And she dumped the fish bits onto Maya.

Maya screeched and she spat, and she bellowed, “THAT BRAT!”

Off Bun flew while Sam laughed like a loon.

He returned with the pail; all green, Haru flailed—

And he gagged by the light of the moon,

  The moon,

  The moon,

He upchucked by the light of the moon.
