Alchemist I

The smell of frying peppers and onions smoked up into the air, the pan sizzling as they were mixed together. Off to the side a pot of broth simmering away with root vegetables floating around in the brow liquid that Yua has made beforehand. He was told by passing chefs that it would make the meal all the more delicious if more things were made from scratch and not store bought, something he was trying to keep to even if he saw this as a hobby over anything.

Next to him the long but small in size dragon was wrapped around the spoon and rested it against the pot so it could sliter into the warm liquid that felt so nice against his scales.

“Levi, you know better.” the Incubus told him without even looking up, turning the heat down as the peppers softened and the onions became more translucent.

“But sir--”

“Yua, my name is Yua.” He corrected the dragon, knowing it was still young and new but he was not sir to his dragons. They were the only things he had that was like friends and family.

“Yua, it’s so warm and nice. Just a liiiiitle swim won’t hurt.'' The noodle dragon protested, still told no as it huffed and became a little coiled pile next to the warm pot and pan with fried vegetable that was now set off to the side so he could start seasoning and browning the meat before it was put into the curry base.

“Can you open the window for me Levi, it’s getting steamy in here.” Nodding, though still sad, Levi the tan dragon unwrapped himself and opened the window to let the smell of cooking food seep out into the great outside.

It didn’t take long for the wildlife to come to the call of food though. It only took a few minutes for a racoon and a few scavenging birds came to check on the smell, sticking their head in the opened window to get cooed at by Yua who happily gave them some of his unused and uncooked veggies.

“When are you going to start cooking professionally?” Levi asked as he made his way slowly to the mouth of the pot, debating would the other notice if there was suddenly a noodle missing from his side and in the curry.

“Hm? Why would I do that?” The redhead asked, stopping from frying the cut up meat to stare at the noodle before his eyes narrowed at them.

“You cook so well, you learn well as well.”

“Eh, that’s just something that the people I seduced would tell me.” Yua didn’t count his cooking as good, but he often didn’t eat his own cooking as he didn’t need to and many people who did were there for more than just food so he saw it as only kind to lie.

“I think it’s good.”

“You’re my dragon, you also don't count.”

Wandering the wilds as usual, Diem was having just the grandest time trying to hunt down something proper to eat. The weird snarly brat from the forest had enough mercy on him to share some of their food with him, something he was grateful for... but. The spoiled youngling was sick and tired of eating the dried foods every day dammit! He was too stubborn to go back home for a nicely cooked meal though. Maybe he could just sneak in briefly to swipe something from the kitchen without being seen..

Pausing in his thoughts, he felt stomach growl angrily as a passing breeze carried the smell of something delicious towards him. Mouth watering immediately, Diem turned towards the smell without much thought on what he was going to do once he got there. Especially since there were... a lot more animals around than he would have expected. Huffing, he stared longingly at the billows of steam slowly waffling towards him. He could probably change his form to try and get some of the handouts that were passing through the window. Just toss his charade to the side for a quiiiick moment. -No.. The raw vegetables and meats didn't interest the picky eater however. He wanted whatever was being cooked.

Making up his mind, he slowly made his way over to the strange wagon. It might seem weird to knock on a stranger's door, but he was desperate enough to give it a shot as he made his way over to do just that.

“Well who DOES count?” Leviathan asked, having quite the loud voice for the small dragon he was. Sticking his tail in the curry, he was testing the waters, literally and figuratively as he argued nice with his rider.

Humming, Yua stopped stirring the heavily spiced meat to think it over, wanting to come up with the perfect hard mode that would have to compliment his dish for him to accept he was a decent cook and should continue to advance and use it to his advantage. There were so many different types of people out there, he figured he'd go with the most picky of them all though.

“A young boy with a sassy mouth and honest opinions that is a picky eater.” Dumping the meat into the thickening curry, the rice cooker beeped as it finished and Yua was so happy everything was coming together. He didn’t make too much, knowing it was just Levi who’d be eating it but the dragon didn’t mind left over so he had made enough incase Elijah came over or any other guest who didn’t want his sweeter food or drinks he was serving.

“That’s so mean!” The light hybrid protested.

As the knock came, Yua looked up from the stove and Levi was distracted from trying to swim in the food. Curious of who could be knocking on his door when the sign said closed. The kind male wasn’t about to ignore it though, thinking maybe it was his darling crush who was coming over for a surprise visit maybe. That excited him enough he left the food to simmer and Levi wrapped around his neck loosely like a necklace as the taller male opened the door. Blinking down at the young child who looked kind of... disastrous by his standards.

“Hello there young one...” He started, wondering why there was a kid here before Levi took over.

“Are you a mouthy brat that is a picky eater?” The noodle asked, getting hushed by Yua but this was just so perfect to him.

“Don’t mind him, he’s still young and learning. What can i help you with?”

His eyes widening slightly at the necklace that wasn't quite a necklace as it asked him a question right off the bat, that wasn't exactly what Diem had come up there expecting. His eyes casually wandering to look over the male with an impressive height, he found himself unable to glance for long. Aaah, these were the kinds of guys his sister liked to bring home; tall, handsome, and with a slim build. Shaking his head, he was getting distracted though, the smell of the food even stronger as it came through the open door. "I wanted to try some of whatever you're making. When do you open?" Not one to beat around the bush, Diem at least could hold his tongue if he chose to from the necklace questioning if him. Those chosen moments being when he really wanted something. The dragon had hit the nail on the head ironically enough though.

Putting his hand on his hips, he for once was normally clothed, Elijah saying he should wear shirts more so he had found some v neck shirts that showed off his orbs on his chest that he rather liked. He didn’t always like them but he was trying to be good, even if it caused slight discomfort.

“I’m not open today, it’s on the sign.” He started, eyes narrowing through as he extended out a hand to cup the young one’s face, his long nails gentle against the softer and dirty skin. “But you look like a complete mess, and i can’t have a poor stray child get turned down.” Letting the other’s face go, he motioned for him to come in, Levi unwrapping from his neck to sit on the counter that has a stool at it.

“You--”

“Levi, don’t be mean. Go show the small to the bathroom so he can wash his hands at least or get cleaned up to his preference.”

“Can I swim in the sink?” The noodle asked as it swirled around Diem as he waited for an answer, like a living halo.

“I’d prefer if you didn’t. I’m Yua by the way, that’s Levithan.” Waving them off though, Levi started leading the young one off to the nice bathroom for at least hand washings, as Yua set up a plate for the young one and his dragon.

“You smell strange.” Levi finally finished, twirling around him some more. “Do you want to have a bath after food? The water is nice and warm and Yua won’t mind.” He wasn’t so mean he wouldn't take whatever offer he could in the form of a warm bath.

Making an obvious show of pouting despite himself, Diem huffed to himself. He didn't want to wait until tomorrow to eat something good, but there wasn't really anything he could do about it. Not the type to throw a tantrum, he opened his mouth to ask how early they'd be open tomorrow when the other cupped his face. The action had the young teen flushing right away, but the words were probably even more embarrassing in the situation. It left him speechless as he followed the motions to come inside.

"Uh.. Diem." He replied simply, hands shoved into his pockets while looking around the inside. It was... cozy. Walking after the flying noodle, he raised an eyebrow at the fact that he smelled strange, lifting up a hand to sniff his. Yyyyeah he did. "At least I can change that. You remind me of those chips that people say have president faces on them, but on a noodle." His tone wasn't malicious, it was just Diem spitting out the first thing that came to his mind as a response rather than putting it through the normal filters he used when in formal company. "A bath sounds pretty good though. Want me to ask Yua if you can swim in the water with me?" Quick to pick things up just by the odd sink swimming question, he wondered if this dragon was like those water loving cats.

WIth Yua in the kitchen, setting up a bowl for the young one to eat and a smaller saucer for Levi, he still could hear his dragon being more blunt. Squinting at the food like it was the problem, Levi perked up before his ears laid back down as if he was silently scolded. He was, but he told Yua the child didn’t seem to mind and was just as blunt, though he seemed like a normal child as far as he understood. He didn’t have many children as an example as many didn’t want to bring their children around a lewd guy that flirted often.

“That’s a strange comparison, everyone else calls me a deer noodle.” Flicking his deer like ears, it was after all what he was, he knew he had a dear head but lacked the rest of that as it looked like someone just got bored and put it on a furry snake. Getting excited at the idea of a warm bath, the more devious side in the noodle told him to charm his way through this, but the young side sighed. “Yeah, maybe I can ask after we eat. He usually gives me a bath afterwards since I get dirty so it’s okay probably?”

Sitting on the back of the faucet as Diem washed his hands, he opened the cabinets to spray him with some of the nice smelling spray. Only a single one though, that blended in nicely enough but surely didn’t drown the smell away.

“Food is done!” Yua called, putting the dishes down on the counter as he started putting away leftovers and doing dishes. It calming and though they had a stranger over, still homely as if he was already welcome.

Humming that was pretty much what Diem had called him, just in more words. "Sure, works for me either way." Rolling his sleeves up at first, his lip curled at the light dusting that had managed to cover even the inside of his hoodie. Well shoot. Figuring he could do without it for now, he peeled off the layer to be in just his white shirt as he got to work cleaning his hands, arms, and face. Even flailing and flicking water at Levi when they spritzed him with some weird bottle.

"Coming!" He shouted back when the time for cleaning was over, drying and pulling the still dirty clothing back on. It wasn't perfect, but it was all he had for now. A quick dip in a river would be fine until he found somewhere stable and cheap to live in.

Rounding the corner, it took Diem a decent amount of willpower to resist digging in right away. Looking up at the gracious host, whatever he expected in return, whether it was some sort of tom nook debt or his soul if the demon really wanted it, he didn't care at the moment. He thanked them for the food and took up his utensil to eat what was probably something even better than anything he had at home. "It's delicious," the boy complimented for once rather than throwing sassy remarks and names.

Close behind Diem as he hurried back, Yua was drying off dishes as the young one dug in. At first going slow until he very clearly liked it. Eating more of it until he paused. Blinking at him, Yua looked at Levi who had his face in the food and making a mess of himself, something he knew couldn’t be helped as his dragon lacked limbs and he was too busy in the moment to feed the usually hungry dragon who stayed small.

“Oh, thank you,” Tilting his head, Levi looked pleased as well, letting out a soft screech of pleasure before he continued eating. Which was soon over as Levi brought over his dish to the sink and shook off, covered in curry sauce and rice as Yua sighed.

“Can Diem and I take a bath after?” He asked his rider, who looked confused but was realizing maybe his dragon was right, maybe he should start taking up cooking.

“Yeah, sure. Let him finish eating first. Do you have spare clothes Diem? I can get you a robe otherwise and wash the ones you're wearing if you don’t.” Which he didn’t think he did as he was covered in dirt so he was already going through his closet for a robe in his size that usually the smaller ladies would use when they stayed over but as he has his eyes on someone that had been a while.

The scrawny teen's stomach didn't appreciate him wanting to fit the whole plate of food in there, but Diem wasn't sure when his next opportunity to chow down on something like this would be. Not really paying the other two much more mind, he leaned back in his chair once he was finished. Raised well enough not to make any rude sorts of noises, he gave Yua the most deadpan look at their question. "What are you, my mom? I don't need to be spoiled like some kid, I'll just wash them in the river later." Not the best choice of words when he had just been spoiled with a good meal. But all he was interested in was finally having a nice. Warm. Relaxing bath for once. Even if his clothes got him dirty again, he'd have a dip in the cold river with them. Just one instance of warm water was needed to melt his stress away. "Oh, what did you want for the meal by the way? I don't have much, but I've got a bit of money left over from finding someone's dog?"

Staring at Diem, Yua grinned and laughed slightly as he leaned on the counter, tails flicking as he leaned into his long nailed fingers that held his own face so perfectly. Levi joined him on the counter, still covered in a mess and very much needed a bath just like their guest who was now being quite the pain as children could be.

“You are some kid though, I won’t even touch on your parent subject as though any understanding parent would let their kid wander off. I don't know many who’d let their kid end up as you have though.” Not trying to sound mean towards someone he didn’t know well, he didn’t know the kids situation and thought of it as none of his business. “Go get undressed and take a bath with Levi, I don't take payments from skinny little kids buuuut I suppose you can take a bath, then sit on the couch and watch TV after as your clothes wash and you can head back out with some food I’ll pack for you.”

Levi tilted his head back and forth as he thought this over, thinking of this as less of a payment and more as... Yua was using that as an excuse for the young one to do as he wanted. Which was fair, if that was the payment Yua wanted who would argue against that? A smart kid surely wouldn’t.

“Can I get a bath too?”

“Yes, you can take a bath with him. He’ll probably feel more comfortable with a dragon showing him the shower over myself, I’m not too interested in that sort of thing with kids though.” Rolling his eyes, Levi floated up in his wiggly worm ways, a bit of rice dropping off as he curled Diem, leading him back to the bathroom.

Puffing up his cheeks, Diem wasn't sure what this guy's problem was. Most people were glad to be rid of the stray after spending a bit of time with his rather blunt opinion on things. He didn't just border on rude, he usually went right over that line as if he couldn't even see it. "I guess if this is suppose to be some sort of babysitting thing I don't care."

Winding up sighing, he pushed himself away from the table, scooting his chair back in before he brought over the last of the dishes. The last thing Yua mentioned went right over the young Diem's head, the little tyrant being clueless when it came to anything related to romance. "You can say that again. I'm way too old for anyone to think I'd drown by myself. I'm a great swimmer too." With that particular point missed, he went off with Levi, petting the deer noodle as they waited for the water to warm and fill the tub.

It wasn't as big as the house he was used to. Yua and Levi were sort of odd too. But Deim decided they were good people. He'd have to bring something from his adventures back for Yua sometime. After weekend cartoons.
