Alchemist II

Leaning against the counter and staring at the spoonful of soupy goodness that was thickening, Yua had to admit he wasn’t the most excited for it. Looking up to the dark haired male though who held it to him he opened his mouth all the same to try it. Chewing it a little, he told himself to not embarrass the small who was trying so hard but had clearly mistaken one mislabeled spice for a similar looking one. A mistake anyone could make when not in a kitchen they were familiar with, but one that had the dish tasting more sweet over spicy how he liked it. The curry he was making was also just not suited for sweet. As Diem took the silence as good, he reached out a hand to the milk with a small smile.

“Let’s hold off on that. I think we need to add a few more spices.” Trying to hint that all was not well, he motioned to the other to try it, knowing the best way to learn was to taste what it was first.

Watching Yua make a blank face and then fall silent, Levi was curious over anything. Yua always was so kind with his words for failed dishes. Even his own rock hard cookies got praise. Was it that bad? As Yua was telling the young one the right spices that would taste just perfect, he stuck his soft colored head in the mixture and came back out with his tongue hanging out.

“It’s not that bad, it’s just too sweet. Did you pour cinnamon in here?” Shushing his noodle, he didn’t want to discourage the small one from his attempt and started pouring in spice as Diem turned his back to stare at Levi who just had that clueless look to him.

“Now now, Levi. Maybe you just ate too many sweets today and the taste lingers. Go shoo off and wash up in the sink as I help Diem. His dish to his sweet friend he’s not gay for has to be perfect.”

“But it is super ga--”

“Shhhhhhhh, bath time before I change my mind.” The noodle pouted a little, but Yua didn’t let him often swim as much as he wanted as it would dry out his scales and he wasn’t about to pass up a chance that may not happen for a while more.

“Fine, I’m adding bubbles though.”

“That’s fine, not too much now.”

Having that bit of excitement over trying to make something that Ryou in particular would enjoy, Diem was sure he wouldn't find a better teach than Yua. They were the first ones to show him just how good nothing but a bunch of raw ingredients could be with their introduction, plus. Well. They put up with him. Granted the teen was like a young girl, showing more favor towards those deemed as cute males and in general those he wanted to befriend. Yua was strangely kind to him since they met, so they wound up falling into both of those categories. Though acted more like a mom. Not that he'd tell them that again since he was behaving more properly around them.

Getting that more obvious critique from Levi, he was more inclined to take the noodle's words to heart than incubus mom's. Getting another spoonful, he stuck it in his mouth to taste it himself, immediately making a face as he squinted over towards Yua. While he had been about to say no, hadn't put cinnamon in... he totally shook the wrong bottle over the dish. "Gwoss." He mumbled around the spoon, continuing to give Yua the blankest stare he could muster. Sighing, he debated merely throwing in jalapeno seeds or starting over but no. He had salvaged something that was too spicy before. He could pull off the opposite if he tried hard enough. This time he had the chef themselves there to gently guide him along.

Wandering over to the spices, he made sure to double check the labels rather than just what they looked like as he pulled a couple out. "At least tell me when it sucks. It's fine if it's you." Somewhere under that squinty face Diem enjoyed being doted on and considered though. Maybe he could find out from Levi what Yua liked too. That, or he could keep leaving dead birds on his doorstep.
