Blaze is 19 at the start of the story with time skips of about three to five years.

Character Inspirations

Blaze shares commonalities with the following characters:

• Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles) - Blaze shares his English voice actor, Adam Howden. Like Shulk; Blaze is determined, quick-witted, strong-hearted, and organized. Like Shulk with his research, Blaze spends most of his time working on his music without stopping for a break. Blaze is kind and often seen trying to help others, especially his friends. He his methodical and plans to think things through. Blaze can be oblivious to the feelings of others and prone to pessimism when he can't find a solution to a difficult problem. Despite his shortcomings, Blaze trusts his friends above all else and goes to great lengths to protect them.
• Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas) - Like the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town; Blaze is creative, debonair, crafty, ambitious, pragmatic, heroic, optimistic, eccentric, and romantic. While Blaze's logic is sound, it is often questioned by his peers. Blaze isn't one to lose his temper, but when certain truths are made clear to him or he is unable to contain his contempt towards his enemies he won't hesitate to act upon them. Like Jack, Blaze enjoys learning new things with much enthusiasm.
• Legolas Greenleaf (Lord of the Rings) - Blaze can be like Legolas in combat, excelling in the bow and swordplay. Like Legolas, Blaze has great appreciation and respect for nature.
• Ren Jinguji (Uta No Prince Sama) - Blaze shares his Japanese voice actor, Junichi Suwabe. Most of Blaze's physical characteristics come from Ren, but with subtle differences to distinguish one from the other; he can unknowingly be confused for this character because they look so similar. Like Ren; Blaze is a passionate musician and something of a ladies' man, although Blaze doesn't have to try as much to charm the female audience. While Blaze's primary instrument is the guitar, Blaze also plays alto and tenor saxophone as well. Blaze has a fiery stage presence when he performs - commanding at first but warm and welcoming. When not performing, Blaze remains carefree like he has everything under control even when life is tough for him. Like Ren, Blaze can be serious depending on the situation, but is always there for his friends. Regarding musicality, I think Blaze would gravitate towards an R&B sort of vibe, but he can also pull off the energetic pop/rock in most of Ren’s music.
• Kendall Knight (Big Time Rush) - Like Kendall, Blaze is often seen as the leader of his friend group, The Dynamic Dorks. Blaze is usually the one who comes up with the plans for their usual antics, yet also knows how to have fun. Basically, he's the glue that keeps the Dorks together.
• Will Turner (Pirates of the Caribbean) - Like Will; Blaze is selfless, brave, impulsive, and somewhat naïve.

• For Adam Howden as Blaze, he sounds close to Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles and maybe Anders from Fable III. His tone should sound mature despite the OC being Australian. (I don’t know if UK voice actors can pass off for voicing Australian characters; help a sister out!)
• Blaze's English singing voice is provided by Joss Robin, who provided the singing voice of Pyotr from the anime Carole & Tuesday. A sample of his singing voice can be heard here (credited as JR Price): Dance Tonight - JR Price
• For Junichi Suwabe as Blaze, he sounds close but not exactly to Ren Jinguji from Uta No Prince Sama or Tseng from Final Fantasy VII Remake. • Understudies for Blaze's English voice include Ben Diskin, Ted Lewis, Terrence Stone, Blake Ritson, Jamie Mortellaro, and Nathan Short (dance instructor from Move with Colour on Youtube). I'm open to casting an unknown Australian VA if needed, but I had no luck in finding one.
• Understudy for Blaze's Japanese voice is Junji Majima
