Morcai
- mutated monsters that were made during the Devoured Sun
- NOTE: this is NOT a species, their appearances are just mutated versions of their original being (on every race, plant, and animal)
- animals, plants, and humans alike, those with a weak connection to the life force were affected when the sun was devoured
- think like… continuous steam floating in the air, and you wave your hand in the middle of the cloud. the cloud doesn't disappear, but the pathway got disturbed, and it takes some time to get the steam back into its previous state
- Revitia did not get destroyed, but it did get disrupted (only at a certain section)
- everyone's life force was severely wavered from a force above their own
- and those who do not have a good connection to their own had their connection to Revitia severed
- once severed from the river, there is no going back
- you become neither alive nor dead, in a way, you're almost immortal as you can regenerate. almost.
- but at the price if one's humanity (life)
- because if a person's connection becomes severed, their life force becomes stuck in a "void", far away from Revitia, and anything can happen to them
- think of it like. Revitia is there to organize the elements that make up a person, but those outside of that stream is more "chaotic", "random", and "unknown"
- mutations occur
- and because the body's natural need to be a part of the river, Morcai feeds on those connected to the river
- everytime a Morcas feeds on someone's life force, that Morcas gets stronger
- unfortunately, the soul of that living being will never be able to rest in peace since their life force (soul) gets absorbed into the beast (unless the Morcas that ate them gets killed)
- you can hear those souls scream out from the monster
- sometimes the monster can use those voices to manipulate someone (ex. a monster using a woman's voice to call for help to an adventurer passing by)
- how to kill em:
- 1. the heart must be taken out of the body (the body can still move) and near/ in a concentrated source of life force (ex. conjured fire)
- 2. the heart must be fully destroyed, either by piercing or crushing, it must stop beating
- 3. ALL stored life force must be spewed out of the heart. if a single drop remains and the body gets the heart back, the Morcas will simply regenerate and find whatever life force they can find to recuperate
- it is a long, difficult, and dangerous process. Morcai, depending on how much life force it ate, are almost too powerful to handle with a group of Seekers
- it is highly said to hide and avoid them at all costs
