Danaë

Danaë considered backing out of the conversation for a moment – to tell Basileios that she was no mage, and couldn’t help him further, do the sane thing and not let the word get out. Yet, she had a tragic flaw, always leading her astray into her greatest adventures and most tragic tales – curiosity, always growing inside her stomach, gnawing at her lungs. The scarlet shine of the amulet had certainly piqued her interest, as well as Basileios’ motives regarding the item. Besides, she trusted the man enough – they had known each other for years and she knew he was no fool- as much as she draped her skin in colorful cloth so the Serpent would remain concealed. An sphinx-like smile curled her lips, a mischievous spark to her eyes as she looked up at him, innocently pulling her thick curls to the side, revealing on glimmering, multicolored scales gliding down her neck.

I can help you.” She signs simply, putting back her hair to the sides of her neck with a wave of her head. “Amulets are rare to come by – and often harmless. They are created to benefit the caster and I have seldom heard of those who curse others, if ever. The worst that can happen to me would be starting to hear what the girls outside are cackling about.” With a giggle of the bells at her wrists, she waved towards the chicken that were roaming just outside the porch. “Besides, there’s only so much power an item can hold inside, do not worry about my safety. I’m very curious to figure out what this beauty here can do.”

She looked up to Basileios as her fingers toyed with the amulet, a hint of concern passing through her gaze. “Unless I am mistaken… This wouldn’t be of any use to you, would it? Are you planning on giving this to a mage?” She didn’t mean to pry – but couldn’t help but wonder where this amulet came from, and where it would go. While she sold weapons anyone could take a life with, she did not like to play with magical artifacts – for they could always be dangerous in the wrong hands. There was a reason why she didn’t offer her services to just anyone – and hoped the man trusted her advice enough to tell her about this.
