Chapter 1

"Man, something's been going on around here."

There has been a global outbreak of unknown creatures. The outbreak starts in Maguna City, where 19 y.o Devin and his friends reside at the moment. The state goverments's response is to have the population of Maguna evacuate immediately. But not after the militia broke into homes, scanning innocent people for "the virus." Those who had been detected with this virus, children and adults, were exterminated on the spot, or taken to facilities to be examined. After everyone had been evacuated, and traveled to a new area, the creatures were only growing in number. Several days after people had just moved, they had no time to settle down as the horde of creatures had made their way across the state. .Then there was a second detection test held in the refuge building. It was a large black triangular building with many authorization doors and gates blocking the entrance, along with the entire building. It had no windows, only beveled edges and square segments for vehicles to enter and exit, and a couple flags surrounding it. The building had "max security" written all over it, and it obviously held plenty of government equipment and weapons inside. The people across the state of Ikaika.

Devin convinced his friends and any other potential allies that those creatures were people, and shouldn't be killed. There were tens of thousands of these creatures, overthrowing cities all over Ikaika. The government observed that these creatures would infect people via scratch, bite, or any salivary contact. They were classified as werecreatures. Werecats, weretigers, weredogs, and more. Werewolves are very rare, contrary to popular belief. Were-felines are most common of them all.

Throughout the story, Devin and his friends try their best to hide any suspicion behind wether Devin is a werecreature, or "werefreak" or not. All while trying to convince the people around them that the government leaders would exterminate them all, infected or not.

The government personnel, or commanders, would need special guns that used silver bullets in order to effectively eliminate werecreatures. The werecreatures mean no harm, but when they get hungry, they can't help themselves. Some individuals in the shelter see or hear people they recognize in the horde of werecreatures, and are drawn toward the creatures. They feel an unstoppable urge to get to that person before they die from the militia or are captured and killed. Then once they find a way to get to that creature, there is only a moment of sincerity before the inevitable ensues.

One of Devin's friends, Jack, lost his footing and was taken by the horde. No one had ever seen or heard from him again, if he was infected or eaten, or otherwise.

After several months had passed and most people succumbed to the side effects of extreme quarantine, fights began to happen more often, and people started rebellions as more visitors were brought in. There were several different shelters in every state. The shelters were big enough to have just two in each state. Each one had a different code name globally, it wasn't just "Ikaika Shelter 1." They had names like IA-01, KU-02, like that. The letters were the initials of the state, and the number was which one of the shelters, in order of being built first. Devin and several of his friends were placed in shelter IA-01. The other uninfected in Ikaika were placed in IA-02.
