Aquagons are a very adaptable species, so they are able to live in a variety of habitats.
The most common place to find Aquagons is the ocean. However, it's also possible to find them in rivers, lakes, streams, and other bodies of water. If you're lucky, you might even find one near swamps, trenches, coral reefs, toxic spills, or the Glacial Sea.
Because of their adaptability, Aquagons can be found in pretty much any body of water and vary in size and traits according to their habitat. For example, an Aquagon found in the ocean is typically larger than an Aquagon found in a river or stream. Habitats also affect the appearance of Aquagon. More information on traits can be found on the "Traits & Rarities" page.
- Aquagons evolved from winged dragons.
- They take about two generations to fully adapt to new environments, as most adaptations begin as mutations.
- Because of how adaptive they are, it's fairly easy to identify Aquagons from rarer habitats.
- Aquagons have adapted to live in almost any aquatic environment.
- Aquagons have the largest variety of habitats.
- Many of the places that Aquagons inhabit would seem uninhabitable to humans, due to extreme conditions in some and a surplus of less friendly aquatic species living in others.
- Aquagons tend to avoid places near human civilizations because of the dangers they may bring.
- Aquagons mainly eat fish and other small aquatic creatures. Depending on their habitat, their diets may stray a bit more towards plants like kelp.
- Aquagons have small ears behind the webs / fins on the sides of their head.
- Aquagons have fairly sharp teeth to help them open things and eat fish.
- While their arms look more like paws, they are able to be used for opening and grabbing things. This usually results in tossing around small rocks as a game, but it's useful nonetheless.
- Most Aquagons are able to breath both above and below the water as a result of their flying dragon ancestors. Some, usually those with the most distant dragon ancestors, don't have this ability.
- Aquagons survive partially through their friendliness and willingness to coexist with other species.
- In exchange for protection, some Aquagons will go hunt fish for larger species.
- Larger species tolerate the Aquagons because they help gather food and are a protected species, thus keeping away humans.
- Humans sometimes try hunting Aquagons, but this isn't allowed by many of the coastal civilizations that know about the species' existence. Hunting isn't allowed in waters that Aquagon are known to inhabit mainly because humans acknowledge the Aquagons' role in keeping the waters safe.
- Aquagons tend to live and travel in groups, both for safety and to fulfill their social needs.
