Traits & Rarities

As mentioned on the page about Habitats, Aquagons are one of the most adaptable species on Aquaria. This means that there's a lot of genetic variety within the species, leading to different traits and different chances of these traits occurring. Their diverse habitats also contribute to this, as many of these traits are designed to help the Aquagons better fit their environments and survive.

While there are some variations, there are also things that must remain the same for a creature to truly be considered an Aquagon. First, Aquagons must have horns. These horns can vary in size, shape, and style, but they must be there. Aquagons mush also have the, for lack of a better word, "ear fins" on the sides of their head. These cover their true ears, which can be extremely sensitive. These fins are important, because they help keep noises at a reasonable volume for the Aquagons as well as protect their ears. Finally, all Aquagons must have two limbs (or at least two spaces / stubs for upper body limbs), unless affected by a toxic habitat that has caused a mutation, and a tail. While their limbs don't vary much, either arms or flippers, their tails have a few more options. Tail length varies between long, average, and short, with various types of tail fins developing in Aquagons of different habitats. For example, Swamp Aquagons have developed a leaf-like tail to blend in better with their mostly green surroundings.

Finally, there are different chances of certain traits or mutations occurring in Aquagons, which are partially determined by their habitat. This will be discussed below for organization purposes. A visual representation of the current traits known in Aquagons can be found below as well.

About Traits
  • An Aquagon's traits can be divided into five sections: horns, tails, body, webs / fins, and mutations.
  • Within each category, certain traits are more likely to appear in an Aquagon. To keep things simple, these are rated on a scale from common to legendary.
  • There is a slight chance for habitat-specific traits to spread to Aquagons from other areas (due to their social nature, Aquagon parents may not have come from the same habitat and their offspring have a very small chance of having mixed traits).
About Rarities
  • Rarities follow a simple scale of decreasing likelihood of appearing naturally; common, uncommon, rare, and legendary.
  • Common: regular tail, medium horns, short horns, broken horns, flippers
  • Uncommon: any common traits, short tail, webbed "ear fins"
  • Rare: any common or uncommon traits, coral growth, whiskers, extra fluff, leafy tail, moss, toxic spots, multiples (eyes, limbs, split horns, etc)
  • Legendary: any common or uncommon traits, rings, lantern, stars, glow, long horns, long tail
About Habitat Rarities
  • Habitats also have rarities associated with them and use the same scale as traits.
  • While the rarer habitats do have more variety, there are fewer Aquagons actually living there, which is what makes them rarer. Habitat rarity is mostly based on the Aquagon population size in a given area.
  • Common: Ocean
  • Uncommon: Rivers, Lakes, Streams
  • Rare: Coral Reef, Glacial Sea, Swamp, Toxic Waters
  • Legendary: Deep Blue, Intergalactic
About Habitat-Specific Traits
  • Some traits are habitat-specific. These traits are typically found in the rarer habitats of Aquagons and result from a need to adapt to a certain environment.
  • Coral Reef: coral growths
  • Glacial Sea: extra fluff, whiskers
  • Swamp: leafy tail, moss
  • Toxic Waters: multiples (eyes, limbs, split horns, etc), toxic spots
  • Deep Blue: lantern, glow
  • Intergalactic: rings, stars
