Battle Style:

ogen is very calm and contained when in combat. He’s usually not the first to make a move, typically watching his opponent carefully while avoiding any oncoming attacks if needed. Once he gets a rough idea on how they carry themselves in battle, his demeanor switches and he takes an offensive stance — closing the gap between them and exploiting their weaknesses through his attacks.

Special Ability - Fists of Fury:

As a STEM, Rogen possesses the power to use a unique, special ability. When activated, his paws are engulfed in flames and he is able to punch fireballs off of them. In addition, he can punch the ground or another surface to cause large fireballs to erupt around him.

Strengths:

The combination of keeping a cool head and being watchful in battle, make him a tricky opponent to fight. He’s not quick to act, often allowing his opponents to show their hand first. This allows him to gain an upper hand due to watching for things he can exploit during combat. On top of that, he tends to use his height and weight to ‘trap’ an enemy in up-close combat and knock them off their square.

Weaknesses:

However, the ‘watchful waiting’ approach doesn’t always work. If an opponent has the edge in speed, this could land him in trouble. They may move too fast for him to study their technique, which could lead to him becoming confused and frustrated. And once he becomes frustrated, the urge to jump in with no plan overtakes his ability to think clearly. Not to mention the fact that the opponent may have other tricks (illusions, shrouding the arena in mist etc.) that could force his hand or give them the first advantage (like getting the first hit.)

Personality:

Rogen isn’t the most approachable pokemon by far. He’s perpetually donning a look of unamusement, as if he would rather be left alone — which is mostly true. He is a very work-oriented person who is content letting his work be the only other thing he’s busy with. Putting himself to good use and getting things done gives him purpose in the life he chooses to live. Having his flow interrupted can often put him in a foul mood, though he isn’t quick to lash out over it. The most he’ll do is pack up and walk away to find somewhere else to resume. And if he can’t, he’ll just deal with it (Albeit very begrudgingly.) With that said, he is not a people person and isn’t one for small talk. That’s not to say he’s impossible to talk to, but it probably won’t be the most fulfilling conversation. Making friends is not a top priority for him, after all. Rogen is usually calm and not quick to anger, but he does have an explosive temper when pushed to his limits. It’s hard to bother him to the point where he will lash out — most things aren’t that important to him to get worked up over. But if you bother someone he cares about (like his kid), or constantly ignore warnings to leave him alone, he may snap. And there will be no other warning; just a punch thrown with zero remorse.

Though he’s not the friendliest guy at a glance, Rogen does have some attractive qualities. He’s very resourceful and his love for repairing things has often led him to helping others. Oftentimes he’s asked, but if he happens to notice someone struggling with something he can fix, he’s likely to offer if he has time. He’s also very imaginative for his age and can come up with a story or wild idea on the fly when in a good mood (though he typically only does this for Anoki.) He’s a very protective and loyal fellow when you do get to know him. He opens up more and can hold conversations much better than before. But perhaps his most defining trait is how dedicated a family man Rogen is. He is always working extra hard to help his son in whatever way he can. He extends the utmost kindness and gentleness he can muster with the ones he loves. He’s also very responsible with his duties concerning them, as well as with keeping up his loyalty to them indefinitely.

Another good quality is that Rogen wouldn’t hesitate to assist someone who is gravely injured. No matter what he’s needed for — whether that means patching them up, carrying someone, or entering battle to prevent a death — he’ll help. And if time is needed, he’ll make time. He may be aloof, but he’s not so heartless that he would walk by while someone was in a dire need of help.

However, he is not one for drama or being a part of it. He is no peacemaker and lacks patience to mediate for others. If someone is having a spat and he happens to be around, Rogen will ignore it or get away. The mere thought of dealing with fallout from someone else’s problems pisses him off. Let alone actually living it in real time. To him, it brings unneeded problems to him and the people he cares about. Minding his own business keeps issues at bay that would otherwise not exist in his space or theirs. So, don’t ask him to help resolve a dispute or argument. If someone isn’t literally dying (or in danger), the answer will always be no.

History:

-Rogen was the second-born son to parents, Warren and Eve. The pair lived quietly in The Pokemon Village in southern Kalos where they raised their two sons. Though surrounding life was calm for them, the family dynamic was anything but. Thanks to their father, Rogen spent the majority of his childhood constantly being compared and belittled in reference to his older brother, Warren Jr. (affectionately dubbed WJ by their parents.) This bread separation and jealousy between the boys. Rogen was often left feeling less-than, while WJ developed an inflated sense of importance concerning his place in the family. That led to the older boy starting to bully and torment his younger brother. After all, he was the favorite and Rogen would make sure not to forget. And forget he did not.

-The bullying continued throughout their lives growing up. WJ never missed a chance to torment Rogen, which usually resulted in the two constantly arguing and competing with one another. This type of behavior became more intense as the boys got older, eventually escalating to physical fights. Venomous words transformed into trading blows as their relationship evolved into something toxic and volatile. Eve did her best to try to help them, but Warren’s lack of care — and her own complacency in the matter — made those efforts moot. The ongoing violence robbed the family of any type of peace. And so to remedy the situation, Warren told a seventeen year old Rogen to get out.

-He spent four years coasting around Kalos before deciding to travel to another region. Rogen managed to hitch a ride on a boat with some small time wannabe-pirates. The journey was pleasant enough and his shipmates were nice, even if he mostly stayed to himself. They wound up on Ula’Ula Island in the Alola region where they split ways. Rogen continued his nomadic lifestyle, but decided he would stay in the region for a couple of years before moving again (getting from region to region was hard.) It was here where he met Juno; a beautiful Pikachu who aspired to be a famous musician one day. Rogen took an interest in her music at first — which delighted her — and that led to them becoming friends. Their relationship deepened over time and they ended up falling in love amidst their joint travels. It isn’t long before they decide to permanently settle in Alola — with Juno continuing to work on her music and Rogen using his knack of fixing things to help others.

-Three years later, Rogen and Juno welcomed their first child, Anoki, into the world. It’s a happy time for the couple, but it is cut short two months later when the new mother passes from an unknown illness she contracted a year prior.

-Devastated, Rogen entered into what should’ve been one of the happiest and beautiful chapters of his life, alone. He had to handle grieving his beloved wife while also stepping up and taking care of the two month old all by himself. Things seemed grim at first, as Rogen navigated through this new territory. But it wasn’t long before he found a good pace and a safe space in baby Anoki (that which would lay the groundwork for a touching bond between father and son in the future.)

-Two years into this newfound life, Anoki seemed to be growing up wonderfully. He was now a curious toddler learning all he could about the world around him. Rogen was there with every step, too, keeping the little guy safe while letting him explore to his heart's content. But tragedy threatened to strike again when Anoki fell ill. A quick visit to a medic revealed he’d been born with the same illness that killed his mother. Juno unknowingly passed it down to him and it remained dormant up until now. And as it was with her, there was little they could do for him outside of keeping him comfortable. Suddenly, Rogen was faced with a very sick child in danger of meeting the same fate that befell Juno.

-Panicked and devastated, Rogen refused to lose his son and sought out special foods and berries that might be able to save Anoki’s life, to no avail. Everything he tried was a failure and it seemed all hope was lost as Anoki’s symptoms worsened. But as soon as he began to give up hope, as soon as he became certain he’d lose his son and the last person precious to him, something great happened.

-Little Anoki was strapped to Rogen’s back in a Hmong-style carrier as he traversed the land for any miracle working anything. During his travels, Rogen ran across a few Team Rocket grunts out and about. He wasn’t aware they were searching for their next target when they took an interest in him (aka, the little pichu on his back.) They decided to ask faux questions about his and his son’s well-being in an attempt to stage a kidnapping. But to their surprise, Rogen begged for help of any kind. He explained what was happening and pleaded for hospitality of any kind — even if just directions to somewhere that could help. A lightbulb came on in their heads and the TR grunts decided to offer him a ‘solution’; their bosses had a procedure that would be a fundamental factor to save Anoki’s life, but in exchange they would need him to pledge allegiance to the facility they worked for. Of course, Rogen did with no hesitation. He left with them and ended up at the STEM branch, a subset facility of Team Rocket as a whole. His son would undergo a “treatment” in a program called “STEM” that would rid him of the illness so he could be healthy again (they didn’t actually know, but there was a chance the plates could help given their origin.) The prospect of Anoki being able to live a full life and grow up was too much for Rogen to pass up. His answer was an automatic yes and he agreed to become a member and participate in whatever was assigned to him. But he, too, wanted to take part in the STEM program so that his son wouldn’t be alone and they could undergo the treatment together. A request they were gladly willing to let him go through with as well.

-The process was long and taxing, but it was a success all in all. Both of their transformations were successful and Anoki’s vitals stabilized despite him not immediately waking from his coma. A couple days later, Rogen came back from a mission to see that his son had awoken for the first time in three months. A relief like nothing else washed over Rogen and he embraced his son, tearfully overjoyed. He already lost Juno, he couldn’t lose what he had left of her too; his only child whom he loved dearly. And Rogen’s loyalty to Team Rocket formed as he was forever indebted to them for saving Anoki.

-Life got brighter and Rogen was able to continue raising his kid while getting used to the newfound responsibilities within TR. Still, the reality of what the process meant often weighed on him — their freedom and Rogen’s full cooperation with TR in exchange for Anoki’s life. Anoki would eventually have to work for them, too, which was quite possibly the worst part. But there was no way he could live with having let his only son die. This was more than what he could have hoped for and something Juno, unfortunately, wasn’t able to have before she passed. As for his son’s inevitable employment with Team Rocket — he would handle that when the time came.

-In the meantime, father and son learned of mentors and were assigned to them. Anoki to an Electabuzz named Tufani, and Rogen to an Emboar named Archie. Archie was entrusted with helping him control his new STEM abilities, as well as show him the ropes of working within TR. The pair learned to have a mutual understanding with and respect for one another. Rogen listens to what he has to say and follows Archie’s orders during training very easily, having had some battle experience prior. There is still much to work on, but Rogen’s devotion allowed him to be able to unlock and get a good handle on his special ability in a surprisingly short time (much to Archie’s delight.) Rogen also formed a close bond with Tufani, as she cared deeply for Anoki whenever he was in her care. Rogen also became a mentor to Anoki due to their shared typing and the bond they shared. Not that it made much of a difference as Anoki was still very young and his training couldn’t be made too serious until he was older (and by that point, Rogen would be well-versed enough to properly help him.)

-Three years passed, things are going well enough and the pair are settled in. Rogen grew in his role working under TR — being assigned with fixing things around the facility when he isn’t on missions — while taking care of his son.

Fun Facts:

-After putting Anoki down for bed, Rogen sometimes goes to a quiet area to train alone.

-Enjoys sunbathing and watching the sunset, but is often too busy to do so.

-Somewhat of a work-a-holic. He’s typically always doing something and is constantly on his feet. One of the only ways that he can relax is when he’s too hurt or sick to do any work. And even then, you can usually find him spending that time caring for his son.

-Gets bashful when attention is given to his heterochromia.

-The ring in his ear is one of two that he and Juno wore in their left ears to represent their union. The diamonds on the rings correspond to their spouses eye color (blue for Juno’s; gold and red for Rogen’s.) In addition to the one he still has, he also currently wears hers on a necklace around his neck.

-Slowly built up his collection of piercings during his young life.

-Has a soft spot for fairytales and fantastical stories.

-Rogen and Juno both evolved into raichus around the same time.

-He remembers all of the songs Juno used to write and often sings them to himself when he’s alone. Some songs he has converted into lullabies for their son, Anoki.

-Always dreamed of having a big family.

-He’s not a fan of spicy foods and much prefers bitter or savory things.

-Rogen always keeps a watch on him and is a stickler for keeping track of time (assigns a set amount of hours for what he has to do in his day.) He also owns a calendar and day planner.

-After Juno’s death, he stored a lot of their old things in a box and buried it in a special spot he could come back to when he wanted.

-Fiddles with the ring around his neck when he’s nervous/uncomfortable.

-Sometimes ties his hair in a ponytail when he’s working with something extra dirty.

-He takes two baths every day; one in the morning and one late at night.

-Has pronounced fangs on his upper row of teeth.

-Although he works for TR and is loyal to them, he does not easily trust the majority of his bosses/colleagues outside of work-related matters.

-Can cook well enough, but often stops by The Culinary Delights to grab breakfast for himself and his son when he can’t.

-Rogen is very good at patching up wounds and tending to injuries.

-As already stated, he has no time for drama. However, inherent paternal instincts make it hard to ignore when a young child is in need of help (even if it’s not detrimental.) This is his only exception to the ‘don’t involve me’ rule. Losing his late wife — and nearly his son — to disease, caused him to develop Pathophobia.

-Rogen hasn’t talked to his parents and brother since he was kicked out. He has no intention or desire to, either. Furthermore, the idea of subjecting Anoki to the verbal abuse and toxicity from his father completely turns him off from the notion.

-In relation to the above, Rogen fears being like his father and always makes sure to put Anoki’s feelings first to avoid invalidating or traumatizing his son. The same goes for any other children he may have in the future.

-Rogen cut himself off from romance for so long that he typically doesn’t know how to respond to someone showing interest in him. This isn’t to say he isn’t interested, necessarily, but that he may take his time before responding in kind.

-Before their transformations, Rogen asked to keep their memories.

-The disease that afflicted Juno, is the same one that killed Grace and Zupher’s birth parents.

-His feelings for Charlotte didn’t become clear to him until after he left TR with Anoki. Though he is able to move past them, there are times where he wonders about what could have been had he been able to pursue her.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
