This CS is created and owned by sinn, who owns the combinative concept of Bysmalbats, but does not claim ownership over its individual inspirations (i.e. Lovecraftian lore/aesthetic, tentacle traits, wing traits, etc.)

This CS and its designs are not eligible for commercial use or NFT minting, only private use.

This CS and its designs are not to be used for, or to be created with, AI generated artwork.

Your Bysmalbat's backstory should be relevant to the CS lore. However, you are allowed to have AUs, including human AUs and CS AUs, that do not follow the official lore.

Content Warning: Given the nature of this species, you can expect to frequently encounter body horror and certain phobia content (bugs/insects/arachnids, multiple eyes, deep sea creatures, etc). If you are sensitive to this content, please protect yourself and refrain from engaging with the species.

The official discord of this CS is for users aged 16 and older only.

If it comes to the notice of a moderator's attention that there is someone younger than the approved age within the server, they will be removed from the discord and given a strike.

Be courteous to all members of the server. This is especially in regards to talking over others, or posting over other people's art before they have received a response to it.

Swearing is allowed, but not in excess. However, the use of any slurs is strictly prohibited.

Gossiping, vagueposting, and bigoted behavior will not tolerated.

Mods will not mediate interpersonal conflict that takes place outside of the Bysmalbat community. Please keep personal grievances outside of the server. However, if you encounter an issue with another member of the community while in the server, you may contact a mod for help.

Avoid derailing an active conversation, and be sure to host topics of conversation in the relevant channels.

Do not vent or trauma-dump in any channel.

Do not advertise your own CS in this server. Please keep mentions of other CS to a minimum.

Sexual content in any form is not permitted in the server. Depictions of body horror and light blood can be posted without spoilers. In the case of posting gore, excessive blood, or nonsexual nudity, please spoiler-tag the content.

Bysmalbats is a lore-heavy species. Many of its updates and features are centered around the lore's development, and sinn is actively working to expand the world of Bysmalbats.

These rules on lore compliance exist to respect the work sinn has put into the world of Bysmalbats, as well as maintain canonical integrity and prevent the spreading of incorrect or misleading information about the lore.

Firstly, you are not required to use the lore for your Bysmalbat, and you can create one or more alternate universes in which to develop your Bat independent of the Bysmalbat lore.

• If you choose to do so, then please refrain from mixing-and-matching/"frankensteining" parts of the Bat lore with independent lore.

Secondly, if you do decide to follow the Bysmalbat lore for your Bat, please do your utmost to follow canon faithfully.

• When developing your Bysmalbat, refrain from intentionally altering or adding details to the lore that could significantly disrupt the canon.
• At the same time, you needn't worry about trying to memorize every word of the lore. Read and absorb it at your own pace, and know that we, the staff, understand mistakes or misinterpretations can happen.

Additional lore is developed and released over time, so the world of Bysmalbats is ever-expanding. As such, there may exist gaps in information that has not yet revealed or elaborated upon.

• Members are welcome and encouraged to exercise creative liberty in developing their Bats.
• However, please be aware that information created outside of the current bounds of canon may be contradicted in future lore updates.

However, please refrain from independently naming certain locations/territories in order to avoid confusing or contradicting canon details.

• Locations that can be named: character-made businesses, character-made groups/organizations
• Locations that cannot be named: lore specific locations, i.e. anything related to witches or factions, including faction property; non-character-made properties such as towns, locations, districts, etc.

Lore compliance is not under intensive moderation and is mainly addressed by staff on an incidental basis.

All MYO designs must be approved by a Bysmalbat mod.

MYO designs can be submitted for approval only through the MYO approval page.

Please submit a non-watermarked version of your MYO design. When it is uploaded to the masterlist, it will be protected with the species watermark.

If you own a MYO slot, you may share unapproved WIPs of your MYO design in the discord server's #myo-wips channel.

• Refrain from sharing unapproved MYO designs outside of the server until they are approved.
• Do not share unapproved MYO designs if you do not yet own a slot.

An "official design" or "official adopt" refers strictly to Bysmbalbat designs created by the species owner, sinn, or either of the species admins, shiba and SyrPanck.

All official designs are subject to the Bysmalbat TOS.

Official designs are allowed to have AUs.

Official designs cannot be voided.

Small edits to an official design can be made with permission from sinn.

The invoice for an official adopt must be paid within 24 hours of the receipt.

Failure to pay in a timely manner will result in a strike and a reopening of the official adopt for offers.

Withdrawing or editing a bid/claim will automatically result in TWO STRIKES.

A snipe guard will come into effect if a bid is made 10 minutes before the end of the auction. The auction ending time will be reset to 10 minutes for every bid made until there are no more bids.

sinn accepts payment plans for bids over $200.

• A 50% down payment is required upon winning the auction.
• The remainder is to be paid over a timeframe no longer than 1 month.
• A longer timeframe may be negotiated depending on the amount.

shiba accepts payment plans for bids over $150.

• A 50% down payment is required upon winning the auction.
• The remainder is to be paid over a timeframe no longer than 1 month.
• A longer timeframe may be negotiated depending on the amount.

These terms apply to both "temporary guest artists" as well as our "permanent guest artists".

A "guest design" or "guest adopt" refers to Bysmalbat designs that are created by approved guest artists.

All guest designs are subject to the Bysmalbat TOS.

Guest designs cannot be voided.

100% of profits from a guest design go towards the guest artist.

It is at the guest artist's discretion whether they will allow a payment plan for their design, as well as what kind of payment plan.

Guest artists may have personal terms of service attached to their adoptable.

• A guest artist's personal TOS must be followed in addition to the Bysmalbat TOS.

A guest design cannot be edited or redesigned without the direct permission of the guest artist.

• You must ask permission from the guest designer before creating alternate designs (AUs) of the adoptable.
• If the artist permits a redesign, then you must follow the Bysmalbat redesign guidelines outlined below.

Derivative designs or "AU" designs can be made from a Bysmalbat design, such as non-CS or other CS designs.

• AU designs cannot be sold, traded, or gifted separately from the original Bysmalbat design. All alternate designs must stay with the original Bysmalbat if it is transferred, even if they are not used by the new owner.
• A Bysmalbat design can be created for a preexisting non-Bat OC; it will require a MYO ticket for submission and approval like any other Bysmalbat.
• A Bysmalbat design created for a preexisting OC cannot be sold, traded, or gifted separately from the original design. The Bysmalbat design must stay with the original design, even if it is not used by the new owner.

Bysmalbat designs or slots of any kind cannot be co-owned.

Vouchering a MYO slot, MYO design, or official design is not permitted. Ownership changes must be logged by the original owner on the masterlist change page.

• Failing to log an exchange Bat/slot within 48hrs of transfer will result in a strike. Please see below for details about the strike system.

There is no cooldown for transferring Bysmalbats or Bysmalbat slots. Transfers simply need to be logged in a timely manner.

The following rules apply to any approved Bysmalbat design, including MYO designs, GA designs, and official designs.

Any Bat design that was purchased can be resold, traded, or gifted.

• MYO designs can be initially valued at the MYO slot price.
• If you commissioned a design for your MYO, it can be initially valued at the slot price + the design price.
• If you designed your MYO yourself, you cannot add the design to the cost.
• Designs cannot be resold for an amount greater than they were purchased, unless it has extra commissioned art.
• Gifted or traded art cannot be added to the monetary value.
• Personal art also cannot be included in the monetary value.

Any Bat design that was obtained via trade or gift can only be retraded or regifted, not resold.

• To clarify, this means gifted designs can be traded, traded designs can be gifted, and vice versa.
• A traded design can only be resold if:
  1) the current owner commissioned new artwork with real money; and
  2) the current owner includes only the cost of that new artwork in the total resale price. This means old artwork commissioned by the former owner, artwork obtained via trade/gift, the initial cost of the slot/design, etc. cannot be included in the overall cost of a traded design.

Only three Bysmalbat MYO slots total may be owned at a time. If you wish to acquire more slots, you must use your preexisting slots first.

The cost of the MYO slot can only be factored into the MYO design's total price if the current owner purchased the slot with real money.

MYO slots can be resold, retraded, or gifted depending on how they were obtained.

• MYO slot purchased with real money (from slot sale or resell): sell trade gift
  
• MYO slot purchased with shop currency: sell trade gift
  
• MYO slot obtained through trade: sell trade gift
  
• MYO slot obtained through giveaway/as a gift: sell trade gift

Redesigns must be submitted for reapproval.

When redesigning, do not make edits to the original art unless you have permission from, or you are, the original artist.

A redesign cannot differ drastically from the original design.

Some edits to a design are permitted without the need to resubmit them.

Edits that do not need to be submitted:

- Any number of these, or all of these, can be edited in a design without being considered a "drastic" redesign.
- Regardless of how many elements are changed, and also how many times they are changed, they do not need to be submitted for reapproval.

• Change of clothes / wardrobe
• Alternate hairstyles (without changing the length permanently, ex. ponytail, braids)
• Alternate hair colors (without changing the color entirely, ex. color streaks, ombré, two tone)
• Gender presentation / body type
• Minor additions such as scars, tattoos, jewelry, etc.

Edits that need to be submitted for reapproval:

- A "drastic" redesign might entail editing four or more of the design elements listed below, and is liable to be rejected.
- However, a rejection also depends on the manner in which those elements are redesigned.
- Ex. changing only the color of four or more design elements may be accepted.
- However, changing the color, shape, rarity, etc. of four or more design elements is more likely to be rejected.

• Permanently changing hairstyle/color (ex. shortening, lengthening, changing color entirely)
• Eye/sclera color
• Color of anatomical traits (wings, tentacles, ears)
• Pattern of anatomical traits (wings, tentacles, ears)
• Size/length of anatomical traits (wings, tentacles, ears)
• Adding a trait that you have a ticket for

Prohibited edits:

• Type of anatomical traits (ex. changing cat ears to bear ears, spiked tentacles to smooth tentacles, etc.)
• Wing clips (can be edited with the purchase of a Wing Clips Redesign Ticket from the Copper Coin Shop)
• Skin pattern
• Skin color

Do not take heavy inspiration from existing characters or designs, whether it is from other designers, a game, a movie, etc.

When taking inspiration from other religions or cultures, please conduct some degree of research in order to respectfully portray them.

Designs that display offensive or bigoted symbols/ideas will be summarily rejected.

GENERAL INFORMATION

You may not void an official Bysmalbat or a GA Bysmalbat.

You may void a MYO Bysmalbat that you have created yourself.

If you did not create the MYO Bysmalbat, you must contact the original creator to ask for their permission to void it from the species.

Voiding is permanent. A voided Bat cannot be reinstated.

You may not gift, trade, or sell only the Bysmalbat version of a voided Bat separately.

Voided Bats are entirely separate from the species; they may not be used in any manner in the Bysmalbat community.

Following the voiding procedure, voided Bats are neither subject to nor protected by our TOS. They would become subject to and protected by only the original designer's TOS.

VOIDING PROCEDURE

At minimum, the wing clips, head wings, and hip wings must be edited out of the design. Remaining traits can be edited out as desired.

In addition, all Bysmalbat lore references must be removed and cannot exist in any form with the voided design.

The original approved Bysmalbat masterlist reference and any artwork of the Bat's original design must be hidden, deleted, or edited (only if you are the original artist or have the original artist's permission).

Submit the voiding form found on the masterlist changes bulletin to the bysmalbats TH.

The staff will review your voiding form within 7 days of receipt.

If the voiding is approved, the voided Bat will be removed from public view from the TH masterlist within 7 days of the approval message.

At present, there are only two reasons a voiding request might be declined;

• 1) the user is not the original designer and failed to obtain adequate permission proof from the original designer; or
• 2) the edits made to the voided version of the design are insufficient (namely, failure to entirely edit out the wing clips, head wings, and hip wings, and to remove all Bysmalbat lore references).
• New reasons are unlikely but liable to arise at the discretion of Bysmalbats staff members.

A 3-strike system will be used to address breaches of our TOS. One or more strikes are given to an individual depending on the severity of the breach.

The reception of a strike is determined by Bysmalbat mods. A user will be privately contacted upon receiving a strike.

Breaches of TOS are addressed on a case by case basis. Certain situations lead to an automatic strike, such as:

• Failure to pay for a MYO slot within 24 hours of the invoice.
• Failure to pay for an official or guest design within 24 hours of the invoice, or within the agreed timeframe of its payment plan.
• Failure to log an ownership change in the masterlist changes bulletin within 48hrs of transfer.

Breaching the design TOS of a guest designer can also result in a strike.

Failure to follow TOS may result in either a strike, multiple strikes, or a blacklisting from the CS as a whole.

Acquiring three strikes leads to a blacklisting from the species.

• This constitutes a ban from all Bysmalbat community spaces, as well as the voiding of any owned designs from the species.
• Voiding will not rescind the design from the user, but it will no longer be recognized as an approved Bysmalbat.
