Bysmalinthes, more commonly known as Bysmalbats, are a group of ancient, primordial beings created by the Great「All-Mother」, a Being born from the Rifts- cracks in time and space, which lead into the Unknown and Indecipherable.
With their ominous wings and squirming tentacles, it is rumoured that their occasional sightings on the surface were the original inspiration for Lovecraft’s Cthulhu. Of course, the stories of old are only able to comprehend barely a fraction of the「All-Mother」's true eminence.
They reside under the surface of the earth, in a separate “plane” called Shambala'ha. Able to morph into a “wyrm” form, they are able to travel along its winding, narrow tunnels with ease.
Based on the “Allegories” they gain from making pacts with humans, their “Wonder” is able to aid them in taking on a preferred form.
Before you start your design, be sure to also review the MYO APPROVAL PAGE to understand what is required for submission.
We have many traits that can come with many variations, and we're always amazed by the creative combinations and concepts our members come up with. However, this also means that we sometimes need to make revisions to the trait sheet: either to clarify a preexisting concept, or to add a new rule. We do our utmost to be consistent, fair, and to keep our community in the loop about changes we make. Unfortunately, we're prone to human error, and we may sometimes fall short despite our best efforts. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding in such matters, and please know that we are deeply apologetic for any inconveniences that may arise due to error or miscommunication from our end.

Bysmalbats commonly have a pair of animal ears attached to their heads.
Animal ears can be attached anywhere on a Bat's head, and they can also be placed at any angle.
For non-standard Bysmbalbat ears, they do not strictly need to be actual "ears" of the creature from which they are derived. For example, one could use fish fins as ears, or butterfly wings as ears.
Typically, a Bat does not have human ears, but they are available as a MAD trait. In this case, they can have human ears either in addition to, or in place of, animal ears.

Wings always come in even pairs (2 per pair).
The maximum amount of additional pairs of wings a Bat can have is 8 additional pairs alongside their baseline 2 pairs. meaning a Bat can have up to 10 pairs of wings (20 individual wings).
Depending on rarity, wings can vary in size, placement, angle, and composition.
However, all Bysmalbat wings must always retain the basic shape of a bat wing.

They can be angled and positioned in any direction. They always come in even pairs.
As a DEVIANT trait, head wings can be attached to the face or forehead.
Head Wings Examples
Hip wings attach to a bat's lower back in the area below their shoulderblades and above their tailbone.
They are attached in an even pair, each on opposite sides of the bat's spine.
Like head wings, they can vary in angle and size.
Hip Wings Examples

Tentacles attach in even pairs on either side of the Bat's spine.
Tentacles come in different shapes, sizes, lengths, and textures. They can also have different growths attached to them.

Legs & Feet
Bysmalbat legs can be digitigrade with animal paws, or plantigrade with human feet or animal paws. They can shift between either form at will. Neither option is restricted by rarity.
UNFATHOMABLE: hooved feet, avian feet
Rarely, objects or non-bodily features belonging to a Bat have the potential to be affected by the Bat's Wonder. This can occur over a long period of exposure, or a deliberate application, of potent Wonder.
These items, also known as CURIOS, can come in a wide range of shapes and forms from everyday household items to unusual otherworldly objects. Regardless of their appearance, there is always something distinctly off about them. This feature also generally encompasses objects with unusual properties (i.e. weapon made out of blood, clothes made out of shadow, etc.)
- "Floating wonder" (i.e. magical particles floating around Bat)
- Moving/living tattoo
- Halo
- Hammerspace object/pocket
- Element-imbued object (flaming cloak, water veil, etc.)

A Bysmalbat's true form is what ties them closer to their Great Mother, and their patron god.
Long, serpentine, and worm-like, this form facilitates travel through the many caverns and crevices in the land beneath the Earth's surface. This is also known as their Bysmalinthe form.
Required Traits
Their Wyrm form retains most of their humanoid Bysmalbat traits. Thus, there are no additional rarities.
- Face
- Mane
- Wings
- Wing Clips
- Arms
- Tails
Although the appearance of some traits may slightly differ due to the Wyrm's unique body type, all traits imposed on the Wyrm form must match those of the Bysmalbat form.
Face
Bysmalinthe faces are humanoid. In this regard, they are similar to sphinxes.
Bysmalinthes are able to open their mouths very wide and unhinge their jaws, mainly to aid in attacking and consuming larger prey. It also lends them an award-winning smile!
They can also shift their face into a more bestial or creature-like form.
Mane
All Bysmalinthes have a substantial layer of fur over their neck. This stems from the likeness to their patron god. Fur can extend further down the body from their mane, though it smooths out into naked skin towards the tail.
Wings
A Bysmalinthe's wings are located on their back. They are usually smaller than what is reflected in their Bysmalbat form - this is so they do not impede their movement in tight spaces.
Arms
Bysmalinthes have a single pair of main arms, and no feet or hind legs. Despite looking rather lean, these arms are enough to propel them through the earth.
Their arms can range in appearance from human-like to more monstrous, but it is most important for a thumb and at least four digits to be present.
They may sometimes possess additional smaller, more malformed limbs, which serve to enhance traction when traversing tunnels. There is no limit to how many malformed limbs a Bysmalinthe can have.
Tails
A Bysmalbat's tentacles will take the form of their tails as a Bysmalinthe. The number of tentacles they have is equivalent to the number of tails they have as a Wyrm.
Bysmalinthes, more commonly known as Bysmalbats, are a group of ancient, primordial beings created by the Great「All-Mother」, a Being born from the Rifts- cracks in time and space, which lead into the Unknown and Indecipherable.
