Silver City was founded as a mining boomtown in the 1860s. When the mine stopped producing gold, the town suffered greatly, and many believed that Silver City would become a ghost town. However, in the 1920s a strange new energy source was discovered within the mine. A flood of researchers, scientists, government officials, and civilians alike flocked to Silver City to marvel at this wondrous new discovery, known simply as the Source. With them they brought family, workers, farmers, and more, leading to Silver City's second population boom. In time, it was discovered that the Source was giving people bizarre new abilities; this was never officially confirmed by the government, but became widely known in the coming decades. This lead to the establishment of superheroes and villains in Silver City. While this phenomenon is not exclusive to Silver City - there are other possible power origins, and superheroes are still present in places like New York and Los Angeles - it is perhaps the best-known out of any of them, thanks in part to the general population's willingness to accept the strange and unusual.

Nowadays, Silver City is a city of progress, nestled within the mountainous state of Rocosa, which itself sits between Idaho and Montana. More than just superheroes, Silver City is also renowned for its modern design, public transportation, and technological progress, making it an ideal city to live in. Superheroes are a beloved part of the city's history and culture, and those living here have fully embraced it.
