Special Traits

These are traits that aren’t included within a slumberkin’s subtype and must be added with an item.

Odd substance core: The core is made out of a recognizable substance such as metal, fabric, glass, or slime. If the core is dripping, textured, or shiny, the pupils can have a matching effect. This trait is needed for the core to have distinct patterns, but the pattern should make sense for the substance chosen. (ex: stripes for candy cane core)

May be difficult to apply to nightmares as their cores are generally not solid.

Multiple cores: The slumberkin has more than one core. At default, these cores are around the tail area, though only one needs to be held in the curl.

Misplaced core: The core is located elsewhere than the tail. It can float or be attached to the body. If applied to a nightmare slumberkin, it can pierce through the body. Otherwise it should lay on the surface of the slumberkin’s body.

Odd-shaped stars: The “stars“ in the slumberkin’s dream dust are an unusual shape, such as bones or flowers. They should remain relatively small.

Lucid gift: Gives a halo to a slumberkin that isn’t the lucid subtype. Maximum of one. Should be in the head area and not any larger than the head. Can float above or behind the head. Any shape is ok as long as it cannot be mistaken for a core.

Nightmare curse: Adds partial corrupted dream dust to a slumberkin that isn’t the nightmare subtype. Can only affect one area of the dream dust. Corruption often makes the dream dust appear like a void or sludge, but anything that makes it appear damaged is ok: cracks, fire, lightning, missing/broken stars, etc

Crossbreed: The slumberkin is mixed with another closed or open species. Please ask me about species compatibility before using this trait. (Best to check with the other species owner too.)

The most common way for a slumberkin to be a crossbreed is when a non-human crosses over into the dream world and gets transformed.

As of now, the crossbreed trait is the only way for a slumberkin to have feet and tails outside the default.
