THE WHITE CITY OF LUXI

qMZ72OI.png

Overview

Invidia’s capital city lies in the heart of what used to be the country of Luxi, and so has picked up its name in honor of remembrance. The city is known to most as “The White City,” and is composed of buildings which shine bright white under sunlight. When night falls, neon blue lights light up the street.

The city is, by far, the largest of the three major cities on Invidia, and in the heart of the city lies the D-SEC Headquarters. The Headquarters are in the middle of a man-made island suspended over water, reachable only by using one of several VeloStar transport stations that extend over the water and to the island in the center. This both serves as an aesthetic and as a defense, as if there were any intruders, D-SEC could shut down the VeloStars and keep themselves from danger. It also keeps foot traffic manageable on the day-to-day basis.

Climate and Geography

Being the only major city placed directly along an ocean, Luxi's climate tends to feel vastly different than those of other cities in its windiness and maritime seasons. While Luxi is protected by a climate control dome keeping the pollution from the surrounding wastelands out, it still experiences mild seasons- cool and comfortable summers, along with slightly cooler winters. The weather is usually fair and sunny, making for a lot of happy citizens.

D-SEC Headquarters are positioned at the edge of the continent, but the city itself stretches out much farther inland than most realize. Through most of the city run man-made canals which the people often use to get from place to place should they not want to use the Velostar system. Many tours are also taken along these canals.

Another of Luxi's most notable features are its multitude of gardens and parks, which people are allowed to visit at any time. Some of these parks were even designed to replicate forests and trails, as such things no longer exist on Invidia.

Population

Luxi harbors the greatest standalone population on the planet, and also perhaps the happiest. Productivity is high for those who wish to work, and because the D-SEC Headquarters are immediately nearby, Luxi is often the first city to gain new handouts, improvements in law, and also has the most social events, such as parades and pride days. The streets are always bustling with people, and music can often be heard playing quietly through the speakers over the city. People in the city live mostly in apartment complexes or tower-homes, to save land space, and individuals often stay with their families unless they have reason to move out.

On the outskirts of the capital city, however, lie the city’s most unsightly reminder that things aren’t perfect- the slums. Slums are prevalent on the outskirts of all three of the major cities, but compared to the pure whiteness and liveliness of those who live in the heart of Luxi, the slums are nearly the complete opposite: full of strife, lawlessness, and death. Most of those who live in the capital are never made aware of the fact that they exist, however, so as not to raise questions; occasionally D-SEC will spur a campaign to clean up the slums, but such a movement is often met with hostility and never makes much progress, so they’ve tried less often in recent years.

THE BLACK CITY OF NOXI

Overview

Noxi, the Black City, is the imposing and intimidating capital of the Northern Continent. It lies right in the continent’s heart, where the mountains and rugged terrain have made approach by foot nearly impossible, like an armed fortress. Jagged slabs of rock are layered over each other and jut out as if to ward off any approaching strangers. Noxi used to be one of the most powerful countries back during the time of the Endless War, and although they now reside under Luxi’s banner, they still retain faint traces of their warborn past.

Noxi, as its name implies, is a city of darkness and intrigue. The buildings themselves are mostly black, some with purple highlights. In the heart of the city lies a large spire, which acts as the main D-SEC building and a popular landmark, although nearby there are also several smaller office buildings and factories to which workers may commute. There are also rumors of a complex underground structure, although if there’s a way to find out, nobody has done so.

Climate and Geography

The land that Noxi lies in is prone to heavy and constant rain storms, though not much other weather causes them trouble. The people here are used to the rain and the neverending chill, although it can sometimes be difficult to get them out of their homes on account of not wanting to get soaked on one’s way to work. Because of this frequent rain, however, Noxi has developed a system of glass overhangs which are built over roads and frequented walkways, which keeps the rain from falling on the civilians below.

Noxi itself is very compact and claustrophobic, as the natural barrier surrounding the city also restricts building space. It is still immense, however, and it is not uncommon for those who are foreign to the city to get lost if they do not have proper directions or a guide. Like in Luxi, the people mostly live in small spartment complexes or tower-homes in order to increase the amount of livable population within its walls.

The city is well known for its wide variety of restaurants and craftsmen, as well as its extensive medical research facilities.

Population

The people of Noxi tend to be very loyal to D-SEC and to Invidia, and therefore jobs are always being fulfilled. Noxi currently reigns as the single most productive city on the planet, and Reas Arandai's reforms have only continued to further Noxi's overall success. While they do not have as many fun or planned events, the population generally appears very satisfied and proud of themselves and their work ethic.

Unlike the Capital, though, Noxi doesn’t sport the same oppressive slums. The slums are nearly nonexistent, although this is a development made over recent years - they used to be awkwardly intermixed with the rest of the city, and crime was rampant. There has recently been an organized cleanup effort to make the city a better place, and since then, the issues with the slums have seemed to almost vanish entirely.
