Planet Oddity

Planet Oddity

[ Grubkits are a closed species made by millipedemotel ]

Planet Oddity is an alien planet orbited by three moons, home to the Grubkits: a race of alien creatures with arthropod-like traits.

The Grubkits were created by an ancient predecessor species, which pursued and unlocked all the mysteries of the sciences. They were experts in space travel and genetic manipulation, but they invested so many resources into the study of the world beyond that they neglected the ecology of their own planet. It began to die, and the predecessors began to die with it. With their expertise, the predecessors created the Grubkits: hardy creatures which could thrive in any environment. They left Planet Oddity to the Grubkits.

The planet has mostly recovered from that ancient disaster, and now Grubkits span its entire world. There are multiple unique biomes across the surface, where Grubkits of all sorts can happily live, and there is a functioning spaceport for those who wish to travel offworld!

Beedance

A small town known for its apiaries and the fields of flowers surrounding it. It is widely renowned for the honey it produces, which is said to be more delicious than honey from anywhere else on the planet. It is a peaceful, idyllic town with beautiful views and plenty of bees, from which it gets its name! The bees on Planet Oddity are descended from the bees of Earth, and remain nearly identical.

Goliath's Horn

A bustling, old-style city located in the fork of the Twin Rivers. With buildings made of brick and plenty of steam power, it has a distinctive visual style compared to every other city on the planet. A train system winds through the streets, providing public transportation and a beloved local landmark, and there is a beautiful old opera house near the town center.

Brilloshine

A large town built on Planet Oddity's unique Luminescent Island, surrounded by bioluminescent flora and fauna. The residents of Brilloshine are known for being off-beat, interesting people with a taste for whimsy; many of the homes are built to resemble the island's famous fungi, and they string fairy lights between the homes to be lit up at night.

Ōtoshi

A futuristic city, the most technologically advanced of any place on Planet Oddity. It is home to the planet's bustling spaceport, and its airspace is often occupied by hovering spacecraft. There is excellent public transportation: the famous monorail of the city is fast and always exactly on time. Many grubs live in the high-rise skyscrapers that make up the city's distinctive skyline.

Santomb Dunes

While this village is very tiny compared to many of the other towns on Planet Oddity, it sees frequent travelers passing between the cities of Goliath's Horn and Solar Stones. A nearby tunnel through the mountain provides the most direct route between the two cities. The homes in Santomb Dunes are built from sandstone and packed mud, giving them a distinct visual style.

Mortem

A run-down, old town located in the sickly forest surrounding Planet Oddity's Toxic Swamp. The buildings here are decaying much like the forest around them, making them unstable and sometimes dangerous. Those who do choose to live here have a taste for the macabre, and Mortem is known to attract unsavory sorts who may be criminals.
