Orth
Orth is a massive world with a diverse population which houses a wide variety of cultures and technologies. It is largely populated by humans, but is also home to a number of other species, including anthropomorphic animals and the mysterious Daitens. In one country, the technology may resemble old, medieval fantasy; in another, it can be as recognizable as the modern day cellphone. Because Orth itself is so large, many groups with differing experiences of the world will never encounter one another.
Orth loosely resembles Earth in climate and biome. It is home to massive forests and oceans which separate individual countries. It has the same four seasons as Earth does, and is often host to large gatherings of Daitens in festival years.
All sorts of magical flora and fauna call Orth home, making it a prime location for those studying magic. The natural energy of the world itself makes an excellent bolster for those who sustain themselves on magic, and Orth's residents are often familiar with the craft in one way or another. This is not to say that there are cultures in which magic is not particularly important; Orth is home to all sorts, after all!
Big Forest
A forest that spans a massive section of Orth, home to a large number of Daitens. Many of them are travelers, while others live in small, secluded settlements dotted throughout the trees. Many of the individual homes in this forest are concealed among the trees, making it an ideal place to live if one wishes to be left (mostly) alone, though there is no way to guarantee that one will never get unexpected visitors.
Warzone
A country ravaged by war -- first by brutal colonizers long ago, and now by a rightful revolution against the oppressor. Despite the conflict, the people here are hardy and have a strong sense of community. Many old homes are shells of what they used to be, and many people are the same, but they celebrate the people they are and the people they could be after the war is over.
Mycea Cult
A town taken over by the Daiten Cinnabarinus. This was a rural village with some small amounts of technology, but at Cinnabarinus' behest they have mostly forsaken their connection to the outside world. The town is now a rotten, disgusting mess of death and decay; the people there worship the fungus they will become after death. There is one singular inn kept in relative cleanliness, for those visitors who happen to stumble upon the town.
Dione's Treehouse
Home to Dione and Juno, this house is built into the physical trunk of an enormous tree, camouflaged against the forest. Inside, it is much larger than it seems it should be: there are multiple levels and a basement, all tucked cozily inside. The basement is Juno's workshop, where he spends most of his time, though there is a library on one of the upper levels that houses his collection of magical texts. Neither Juno nor Dione leave very often.
Elim's Tower
An old stone tower, falling apart in its age and held together by haphazard magics. Elim discovered it as an abandoned building once and did what he could to patch it up; now, it is his home base for magical experimentation, and it's where his partner, Chain, lives with him. It has everything Elim could need to work on magical research, but there is a persistent draft that never goes away.
IDOL HANDS
IN PROGRESS • FANTASY
Dione hires the wizard Juno to study corruption, seeking a way to keep her corrupted power without losing her mind to rampancy. While he is cut off from the world outside, he is given nearly unlimited resources to accomplish this task -- including a Daiten idol that Dione discovered which, quite by accident, becomes a true Daiten.
Or... perhaps it isn't a true Daiten. Hollow looks like one, but hardly acts like a person at all. It is easier, in fact, not to treat it like a living being in the first place. Things turn on their head after a surprise visit from a stranger named Seraph, who discovers Hollow in the basement...
CRUMBLING TOWER
IN PROGRESS • FANTASY
Elim and Chain are pursuing an impossible goal: they want to turn back time to before heaven's collapse, bringing back the world that was. Elim is obsessively studying magic to that end, despite the fact that every scrap of research he has uncovered indicates that it is not possible. After a catastrophic accident in his tower left him horribly mutated, he feels he has lost too much in the pursuit of his goals to give up now.
THE WAR

So when he runs across an old friend on the battlefield and his convictions are challenged, what is he meant to do?
