02. TRAITS- HANASOU

Hanahakisou guidelines are intentionally vague to allow for maximum creative freedom.

- Variety of features available- even ferals/anthros; revival as a hanasou can happen to anything with a soul and the capacity to feel emotion. Wings; kemonomimi ears/tails; etc. = all good

- Flower shroud can resemble anything made of textile that is considered outerwear. Jackets, cloaks, scarves; obi, wedding veils, outermost robe of a multi-piece ensemble; etc. They are loosely linked to their owner (and reflect their mental state, to an extent), can be "recalled" if separated, and will regenerate if damaged. Solid pieces like armor can't form the base, but can be added on for decorative purposes. Sensation-wise, it has a similar relationship with its owner as a voodoo doll does with its target.

- Any plant can be used as part of the shroud, not just flowers. This includes plant-adjacents such as mushrooms/fungi/moss/etc. Plants are alive, but in stasis and change very little (like the hanasou themselves).

- Plants, as well as the clothing style/base of the shroud aren't required to resemble anything found IRL.

- Injury to the earthen body is difficult to heal since their "blood" doesn't clot like normal people's. Any injuries will instead close up by growing plants, and over time, non-major wounds will heal without a trace. They are very difficult to kill with bodily harm since they can tolerate a LOT of it, however they still feel pain and every other sensation. Lost limbs will never regrow, but plants may continue to grow from where the wound initially sealed; over centuries, a new limb may form entirely made of wood/their plants. A hanasou with no plants growing from their body anywhere is extremely unusual.

- They need to consume living blood. Thirst cannot kill them, but starving will lead to tremendous torment until they do. A hanasou who binge eats, or eats live flesh usually has a wider variety of/more vividly colored plants growing on their shroud/body.

- A hanasou close to the end of their life will begin to decay- expiration is inevitable. In this stage, sensation deadens as their earthen bodies slowly fall apart; eventually, all that remains will be a shroud in a pile of ash. They often become mentally and/or emotionally unstable as the decay progresses.
