How to Play - An Overview

The first step is to acquire your first one or two Khundii, by posting a message in the Adoption section of the forums. Khundii come with both a computer-generated reference image and a code that is necessary for breeding. The program that generates the images is of my own design, using my own art, and a Mendellian genetic system that can allow for a wide range of Khundii coat colors, mane colors, eye colors, and coat patterns. Khundii designs can of course be customized with dyes, ornaments, blankets, tattoos, scars, or whatever else you feel like, and you may simplify markings to whatever degree you feel comfortable with.

Of course, you’re free to roleplay with your Khundii, write about your Khundii, or produce art of your Khundii in any way you wish, or breed Khundii without any aspect of roleplaying/stats/etc., but the following is the system I will be using, and official events, contests, awarding of in-game currency, etc. will use this system. Furthermore adherence to this system is based entirely on the honor system, with little to no admin oversight.

All Khundii start out at Level 1, and have four stats: Speed, Strength, Endurance, and Intelligence. These stats are on a scale from 1 to 10, and stats function on a point buy system. Level 1 pets have 10 points to spend, and from then on going up a level adds one point to the stat of the player’s choice.

Challenges are also rated on a scale of difficulty from 1 to 10. The difference between a challenge level and the stat being used determines how likely it is for the Khundii to succeed at their task. If the challenge level equals the stat, the chances are 50-50. If the challenge level is higher than the stat, each point higher makes the Khundii 50 percent less likely to succeed. If the stat is higher than the challenge level, the reverse holds true: each point higher makes the Khundii 50 percent more likely to succeed. This means that challenges can be resolved with a series of coin flips.

Challenges not against a stat can be resolved based on what one thinks the likely odds are, in terms of number of coin flips. For flips of more than two coins, having all the coins land on the same side is representative of an exceptional outcome, either an especially good or bad result, or just something happening in a way that is unexpected.

Challenges where multiple Khundii are working together can be dealt with by adding the Khundiis’ stats together before calculating the chance of success. I.e., for a challenge rating of 10, if you had two Khundiis with a relevant stat of 6, the result would be 12, which is 2 more than the challenge rating, resulting in a 87.5% chance of success.

In order to level up your Khundii, you need experience. Experience can be gained from role playing, writing, or making art. The level of experience needed to reach a level is detailed in the Experience per Level page under the Game Data folder. The rubric for earning experience is detailed in the Rubric for Experience page under the same folder.

The currency for in-game items is kg, meaning kilograms of meat. This can be obtained by a successful hunting skill check(s) associated with any gain of 200 or more experience. For example, if you write 200 words, and you complete a successful check against the challenge to catch a hare, you would gain an addition to your balance of 5 kg. To hunt larger game like deer or bison, each Khundii must make one or more preliminary skill checks, and only those Khundii which pass each of those checks individually can work together on the final check (usually Strength) to bring down the prey. Please make note of your skill check success either in the work providing the experience, or in the description.

Once again, we are working on an honor system here. I promise, it will be less fun not just for everyone else but also for you if you decide to cheat, and if you make a habit of it, it will be obvious.

*Note: Please inform me if you transfer the ownership of a Khundii, so I can keep better records. A DM or post in the Adoptions and Breeding forum is fine, or message me on Discord.
