The Ashen Steppe is a vast, elevated grassland that reaches as far as anyone has ever managed to go. Roamed by animals like unique species of deer, bison, big cats, bears, and many smaller species, if it lives in a grassland, you can probably find a version of it here. Trees are few and far between, and wood is an exceedingly precious resource. Deposits of iron and gold are occasionally found and mined, but rarely. However plant life is abundant and provides supplementary food for humans, as well as an abundance of fibers that can be made into rope and cloth. The climate is dry and mostly mild, although the winters are bitterly cold and contain frequent heavy snowfall.
