Witches

Very occasionally a human is born with the ability to bend the rules of nature. Most witches live their lives undiscovered, even by themselves. They might convince themselves that the slight breeze that comes right when they were feeling a little too hot simply is simply luck or chance. Even if their ability is discovered self training to be able to accomplish anything other than such small tricks is exceedingly difficult. As such knowledge of witchcraft is passed from master to apprentice and the bond between them is seen as sacred, put before even the bond between parent and child.

Schools of Witchcraft

Each witch generally specializes in one of the three schools of magic, Spellcraft, Potions, and Enchanting.

Spells are instant and short lived. They temporary change the world around the caster. Spells can be written down to delay their casting but still will only work if activated by a witch. Spell tattoos are common among witches of this school, keeping their favorite spells close to hand.

Potions effects last longer than spells but slowly fizzle out over time. On average most potions last a day or two to a month and at longest around a year. Potions affect whoever drinks them, regardless of their ability to use magic.

Echantments last as long as the echanted item stays whole and affect only the item enchanted. There is a large variety in the effect an enchantment can give highly depending on the base item.
