Asmodeus

• Please note that Asmodeus is the root of all evil/ultimate villain of my character world... he does or causes terrible things. I choose not to dwell on specifics but I ask that you don't treat him as 'misunderstood'/ect. He is evil itself. Even if he may try and fool you otherwise.

Asmodeus is a vicious man, and notorious trickster of a god. He's entirely selfish, petty, and a prolific liar. He only seems to find joy only in hurting people around him whether its emotional or physical trauma. He's a god who's existed since the dawn of coherence but one that stays quite shrouded in mystery.

He has little like nor interest towards mortals, as he finds them rather annoying. His amusement with them is simply in mocking how foolish and short lived they are, and tormenting them for his own entertainment. He isn't necessarily specifically malicious towards them- its not his 'goal' to entirely wipe out humanity, but he'll gladly antagonize them if it furthers his goal of belittling or crushing hope in the benevolent gods. 

He's rather immature and terribly sarcastic, and he's good at putting on a ruse to seem less cold than he actually is. He seems like a  mischevious jokester- but is entirely capable of acts of tremendous  cruelty to get his way. He might seem almost friendly towards some, but its only to get what he wants and step on those in front of him. He can be rather bratty when he doesn't succeed in causing whatever trouble he's set out to accomplish for the day. He has an ulterior goal, and always seems to be one step ahead of most who oppose him. Despite acting quite foolish and spoiled, he's very cunning shouldn't be underestimated. He enjoys making deals..but he's dishonest and its never a fair bargain, and its never guaranteed he won't immediately go back on his word.

Asmodeus is a cruel man, driven by selfish need to garner attention and be important in the eyes of his peers.  Corrupted by a greed of the mind he's entirely absorbed with the thoughts that he must surpass the other gods to be a superior being, to be more powerful and greater than any of them. He lacks the ability to consider or comprehend working in cohesion with the other gods to create a better world. His bitterness comes from an idea that if he doesn't  matter-what do the lives of others matter? Most specifically-mortals. He has a long, cruel trend of ambivalence and cruelty towards humankind  and non-immortal things because he deems their fleeting lives to be useless. He enjoys messing with them and does find them mildly entertaining at best. He believes that if he must suffer- so too must others.

He wrestles with a powerful insecurity about his purpose for existence and meaning of his life. It gives him a great deal of emotional strife to be unsure of what his purpose is. In his selfish immature desire to find his own purpose, he will crush anything opposing him. Unapproached  by the other gods, who made no move to try and help him to find a more productive existance, he felt as if there were something wrong with him. He had no uses as a good being, as something to help people. He instead  deemed it his place to teach pain to those who lacked it. His good deeds could go unnoticed, unappreciated- but none could doubt the pain he spread.

He found this sadistic love of psychological and physical torment to be a sufficient form of purpose  for himself, and he turned a complete blind eye to any forms of intervention that would try and make him into who he once was. It was easier to stay evil and cruel- than face judgement for his actions. 

That's not to say he is entirely without mercy or reason, as under the right (Very rare) circumstances, someone may be able to get through to him and send him into a reeling mental crisis as he second guesses his every behavior. However, in most of these instances- its easier for him to remove whatever upset him in order to defend his own mental wellbeing than make any effort to change  himself. He is someone who refuses to change- because he'd spend the majority of his early life changing rapidly. To change again as soon as he'd figured out who he thought he should be? Absolutely not.

Asmodeus wasn't always evil, like the other primary gods- he was created and had to figure out his purpose.

His eventual bitterness towards the other gods and the roots of his hatred lies in being forgotten. He knew not how to react to mortals as they were created, he had no clue how to fend for himself in this world and was left to rot in imposed silence. At first he made efforts to rationalize it, to get along with mortals and reach out towards other gods- but this was met with continued failure and he did not understand. His annoyance became anger and then took the form of aggression over many thousands of years. 

Watching the other gods worshipped, loved, and adored for their actions was insulting, when the other gods didn't even remember his name. He became twisted, and became motivated to destroy  everything in his way, becoming the representation of all evil. Can't forget him then, can you? He'll make sure of it....

Asmodeous does have a few god children, their mother is currently unknown, though it is possible that he simply created them himself and told them that he was their blood father to keep them under his thumb. He has no intention of speaking of any truth of it.
