Profile

Physical Appearance

  • Waist-length black hair exclusively worn in ponytail; she cuts it short as an adult
  • Brown eyes, although she sometimes wears red contacts
  • Fair skinned on the somewhat pale side at first, although more recently she's become more tan from being outdoors often
  • Somewhat tall in height
  • Physically fit with a muscled build, making her seem rather heavy
  • Medium sized breasts

Clothing Style

Ashley has a style that's a blend between punk and mild goth. She wears mostly black with varying motifs, usually skulls or bones, band T-shirts, or the like. She thinks motifs that try to be artistically dark and beautifully grim are cheesy, so you won't catch her wearing anything trying to be too fancy looking. Her footwear consists of mostly black combat boots, and she almost exclusively wears pants, usually black or dark jeans. She doesn't have much preference on sleeve length on her shirts and just chooses based on the weather. She's not fond of anything overly "feminine" and you'll never catch her wearing a dress or a swimsuit.

Personality

Ashley is an aggressive and irreverent bully who likes to solve her problems with her fists more often than not. She almost always seems to be in a constant state of agitation and doesn't work well with others. She enjoys getting into fights and insulting other people, and even toward her friends she tends to tease them about various things, although she's more reasonable about it and is more open to supporting them if needed. She speaks bluntly and doesn't care if she hurts feelings with what she says, and she comes off as incredibly rude, cold, and selfish. Ashley has trouble keeping herself from being too rough or not getting into fights, since she legitimately enjoys fighting other people, so she tends to let her friends talk herself out of things that could get her into too much trouble again following her release from juvenile prison. She has little sense of morals or respect for authority or personal property, so don't expect her to play by the rules very well.

Aside from Ashley's tough exterior, she can be relatively mellow when around people she actually is okay with. She usually seems really low-energy, bored, or disinterested when others are talking to her, but that doesn't always mean she's not interested or listening. With her closest friends, she actually tends to be nosy and intrusive with certain things, and she likes getting them out of their comfort zone as a means of teasing them. She has a hard time being more gentle and sensitive around the people she cares about, so she usually compromises with only picking at them occasionally. She's especially invested in her boyfriend, Alec, who keeps her interested the most and tends to amuse her more than anyone she's encountered so far. She can be rather creepy with how intrusive she is with him though, and she enjoys being aggressively flirty with him to keep him on his toes and fluster him. Ashley can something be a bit too intimidating and rough with Alec at times, but he never seems to say anything about it so she doesn't change her behavior.

  • Skilled at hand to hand combat
  • Has basic knowledge of handling small firearms
  • Despite her size, she's surprisingly good at being stealthy and sneaking up on people when they least expect her

  • Aggressive, easily provoked, rude, and crude
  • Has no respect for authority, rules, or personal space
  • Moody, snarky, uncooperative, and extremely stubborn
  • Has trouble controlling her rifting so she has to keep herself from being calm so her rifting energies can't flow without her noticing

Backstory

Ashley had a relatively normal life early on in her childhood, although it was clear than neither of her parents were good influences on her. Their actions made her morals rather skewed, and she learned that violence was always an option from observing them. She first came into conflict with the law at the age of 10 after killing one person and injuring two others with her parents' handgun after they had barged into their house and started a fight. Ashley personally wasn't charged with anything since it was deemed self defense and she was rather young, yet the incident got her rolling further down a path of violence and aggressive behavior. Her parents already had some trouble with the law, and that incident (since they left the firearm in an insecure place for her to easily use) along with other problems in the following years lead to both of them being eventually arrested.

Ashley was placed in the care of her father's older brother and moved to live with him in Nebraska, and although her uncle was a more responsible guardian for her, her behavior was already deeply influenced by her parents. She eventually landed in juvie for the numerous fights she's started and contributed to at school along with severely breaking some sensitive rules. Her sentence to rehab courses kept getting extended due to continued fights and her lack of cooperation and willingness to change.

While serving the last few sessions of rehab in juvenile prison, she came across a peculiar boy named Alec who piqued her interest. Her interactions with him along with his friend, Adeleida, and his new cellmate, Volkmar, lead her to behaving well long enough to pass the course. Now Ashley half-heartedly attempts to stay on a clean path after her release by keeping herself distracted by her hapless love interest, along with helping her uncle with various tasks and jobs so she can focus on being more productive rather than getting into fights again.

Trivia:

  • Ashley is a bit sensitive about discussing her rifting since she has no idea how to control it properly yet.
    • It tends to act up when she's in a state of total calm, so she purposely keeps herself worked up about anything to make sure it doesn't do anything without her notice.
    • She does get a better handle of it once she starts attending the Hateulots schools and is mentored specifically for Gost rifting.
  • It's not a particularly delicate topic to her, but she's also a bit hesitant to talk about her family to others since both her parents are currently in prison. She is frank about the fact that they are in prison, but she doesn't usually elaborate much further on the subject.
  • She's rather fond of her uncle who's her legal guardian though, and he seems to know the best way to keep her cooperative and interested rather than stifling her too much while also not letting her go too crazy.
  • Although she doesn't really mention it and it doesn't seem very characteristic of her, Ashley's very fond of certain things from the 70s and polka music.
    • She doesn't like things that are flowery and lovey-dovey, but she has a healthy collection of lava lamps in her room along with some vintage records.
  • Her favorite color is obviously black, closely followed by red.
  • She frequently shops in the men's section for clothing, since most of those fits her better and she's not fond of "feminine" styled clothing.
    • Also definitely gets a lot of clothing and accessories from places like Hot Topic, or whatever fictional equivalent to it.
  • After Ashley gets her driver's license, she winds up driving this white van that her uncle has for work. She purposely is creepy about driving it around and tends to invite her friends into it with dry sarcastic remarks like "Get in the van, I have candy."
    • She actually does keep candy in her van, but of course that's just to be ironically creepy. She only drives it to help her uncle transport items between home and work/work sites, or to get herself or her friends places when she has no other options.
  • Ashley is a very aggressive and dominant figure when in a relationship. There's no way in hell anyone is going to put her in a passive role.
    • She's a bit overbearing and too rough with Alec at times, but he hasn't made any direct remarks to her about it, so she doesn't really know if he's okay with it or not. There have been a few occasions where Ashley has actually injured Alec while being "roughly affectionate," whether it was a forceful hug/kiss turning into a tackle instead, or just underestimating how much shorter and lighter he is compared to her. As rough as she usually is, she never intends to legitimately hurt him though, so she'll usually ease up on him for a while or do something nice for him when she realizes she's gone too far. Then again, Ashley can be pretty inconsiderate and can be dismissive if Alec isn't as the physical aspect of their relationship as she is.
    • Ashley has no adults in her life to model a healthy relationship after, so her relationship with Alec winds up being pretty toxic as time goes on. It's not from Ashley intentionally being bad or malicious toward Alec, but she has a habit of disregarding his feelings and having some "toxic masculinity" views that she projects onto him when he doesn't fit the mold of what she expects a guy to do in a relationship.
    • Later into their teen years/early adult years, Ashley and Alec end up breaking up with each other. Ashley probably would've kept the relationship going if it was up to her, but Alec eventually determined that she was too focused on the physical aspect of their relationship and couldn't imagine being happy with her in a committed relationship for the long haul. The initial breakup was pretty rough and they got into a heated argument over it with resulted in Ashley taking a swing at Alec out of anger and him just walking away.
    • Ashley later apologized for it and the two reconciled into staying as friends. She also mentioned she probably wouldn't have been mature enough to apologize even though she did feel bad about it if Adeleida hadn't heard what at happened and ripped Ashley a new one over hitting Alec and saying a lot of hurtful things to him that she ultimately didn't mean.
    • I pondered the idea that their breakup, Ashley and Adeleida would end up dabbling in a relationship. They wouldn't be entirely sure what to call it at first, since they wouldn't really refer to each other as girlfriends, but they'd also feel like it's something a little different from just friends with benefits. Ashley would only consider it because "Addie absolutely roasting her to cinders out of anger over hearing about their messy breakup was kind of hot." I changed my mind later, since I don't think Adeleida would be interested in a relationship with her considering the nature of Alec and Ashley's breakup.
  • Ashley tends to excessively gift Alec boxers, to the point where he has a ridiculous collection of them.
    • She also prefers to wear boxers herself, but she rarely shops for herself and finds it more enjoyable to seek interesting ones for Alec instead.
  • She sometimes does a little bit of makeup, but usually it's only some "goth-ish" eyeshadow or pale foundation. She doesn't usually like wearing lipstick, blush, or mascara, and she doesn't put a lot of effort into making her look "perfect" in any sense.
    • She does, however, enjoy painting her nails, but she typically only paints them black or dark red.
  • She's not that fond of her name since Ashley sounds a little too stereotypically girly for her taste. She doesn't hate it though, but it's clear she tends to prefer when people shorten it to Ash instead.
  • Ashley has a habit of breaking things frequently, both because she's destructive and also because she's not very graceful and tends to unintentionally knock things over as well if she's not purposely trying to be stealthy.
  • Her uncle acquired a sitar at some point from a colleague, and Ashley was encouraged to learn to play it just to give her something to work on. She wouldn't say she's great at it yet, but she's got the basics down pretty well so far.
  • Her birthday is on March 5th.
  • Her original concept had her in juvie for gang involvement, involvement in drug dealing, and illegal use of firearms. This has obviously become more mild with development, although Ashley probably has the “roughest” background of the four Delinked juvie kids. She’s the only one who still has killed someone in her background, although it has been changed to be less malicious and intentional.
  • She wasn't named until a year or so after I created her, and she simply went by the prisoner number 64987. She was designed as an angry and moody girl with a ponytail who resorted to violence very quickly.
  • Old Charahub blurb: "A punk straight out of juvie with the ability to manipulate the souls of the Living and an unsettling obsession with stalking her boyfriend."
