Cecil Teal

That little boy whose head you pat while you gently laughed at?
That's the chief of police.

Thievery has always been in Cecil's bloodline. His father was the legendary Master Thief, a rogue infamous for pulling of seemingly impossible heists while also garnering the most attention. Maybe it was that fast paced lifestyle that attracted Cecil's mother, but in the end, it didn't last long. After his birth, Cecil's father left without saying a word. Strangely, his mom never seemed disheartened or sad, and his sister didn't understand what had happened, but Cecil was plenty upset for the both of them. Why did his father leave? He grew up constantly asking that, getting no answer and only more frustration. Then, he learned about his father's secret, and he figured it out.
The answer was simple: he was the Master Thief, and he'd rather keep his stupid job than raise a family.
Fine. If he wanted the fame that much then he could have it. But Cecil would get revenge.
Determined, he studied vigorously throughout the ages until he finally made his way into police academy, and he didn't stop there! He trained both physically and mentally, and soon he earned himself the title of police chief at an early age!

He thought he'd been doing great, that all his success had been because of his determination and hard work.
But then there came a horrible court case.
He'd been accused of a horrible crime, claimed to have bribed his way into his position. He was tried in court, and there his father burst in to reveal the truth.
The Master Thief was the culprit. He bribed the original police chief to step down and give Cecil his position. Those criminals Cecil caught too? All paid by the legendary thief.

After that Cecil felt like he wasn't meant to be a cop, like everything he knew was a lie.
But no, he wouldn't give up. Putting up a strong face, he shined his badge and continued his work, catching bad guys without anyone's help.

Notes: I always liked the idea of someone small and cute being super important, so here we have Cameron and Freddy's boss! He's also heavily inspired by Ace Attorney. If I wrote out all of his backstory, it might take PAGES. There are a lot of gaps in his story for that reason, so if something doesn't make sense, just go ahead and ask!

Personality: Cecil is incredibly short-tempered due to years of people assuming he's a kid. He wants to be taken seriously and will always command respect, though he won't throw a tantrum if things go wrong. He's somewhat level-headed and prefers to go down a checklist of things to do before he starts yelling around.
His sense of justice is overwhelming and can make him seem annoying, how he'll chastise you if you did something wrong. His youthful looks also tend to give him spikes of insecurity.

Drawing Details: Looks young and angry. Usually always wearing his police uniform and has a little whistle on him that he blows on to get attention.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- During his years studying to be a policeman, his sister had Jackson, but she became negligent when the father left, so Cecil and his mother tried to raise Jackson whenever she couldn't.

- After the case where Cecil learned about how he got his job, his father was assassinated by a copycat Nightingale. The copycat was found shortly after.

- His father was named Shaun Teal. Which leads to S. Teal.

- Cecil doesn't drink alcohol because everyone always thinks his ID is fake.

- Thankfully his age finally catches up with him in a couple more years (though that's most likely thanks to the stress of his nephew's incident).

- He loves birds and owns three cockatoos.

- He's seen in his free time feeding pigeons at the park.

- He's aware his nephew is the new Master Thief but tries to turn a blind eye to him. Although if he pulls a heist around him he won't hesitate to unleash his full power to catching him.

- Even though he had no interest in becoming the next Master Thief, some skills were inherited to him anyway. He can tell apart forgery and is very good at lockpicking. 

- He's a blackbelt in karate and knows both taekwondo and kyusho jitsu (pressure point fighting).
