Physical Appearance
Benvolio has essentially the same appearance as any standard Lanturn, and he's basically always happy.
Personality
Benvolio is a very cheerful and kind Lanturn who just wants everyone to get along and find non-violent solutions to their problems. He's not very fond of battling, but he will do so in self defense or to protect his trainer and team. Benvolio would honestly rather just cuddle and be affectionate all the time, but that's kind of difficult to do in a place like Orre. He tries to remain optimistic in whatever situation he's put in, and he is ever the diplomat in times of conflict. Of course, he can be a little too idealistic at times, but he won't let his feeling about conflict get in the way of backing up his team. His team members consider him friendly but a little too silly sometimes, but overall he's the most pleasant and warm hearted of all of Red's Pokemon and certainly the easiest to approach.

- Not terribly bright and a lot of things tend to go over his head
- He's a fish that lives in the desert, so he's not exactly in a great environment for himself
Backstory
Red was given Benvolio as a Chinchou by his father, who claims he fished him out of a puddle in the middle of the desert. No, not an oasis, a puddle. Benvolio has always been a very affectionate and loving Pokemon for Red, and he always tries his best to do whatever his trainer needs even if it's a little difficult when there are no decent bodies of water anywhere around where they live. Benvolio doesn't let that get his spirits down though. He just wants to make friends and for everyone to get along.
Trivia:
- All of Red's Pokemon except for Kit are named after characters from Romeo and Juliet. Red's Lanturn was named after the character Benvolio, because he tends to try and mediate and keep the peace when possible. In a parody version of the play featuring my Pokemon characters (titled "Row Me Over to Juliet"), Red plays as Romeo, and Benvolio usually tries to get the two families to find non-violent solutions to their differences.
- Unfortunately the Raichu that partially plays the "Tybalt" role has a bit of a rivalry with Benvolio and they are forced to fight each other, although Ben typically absorbs all the electrical attacks with Volt Absorb.

- I wanted Red to have some kind of water type on his team even if there's not much water in the place he lives in, so that's why I came up with the silly joke that his father just fished up a Chinchou out of a puddle with only maybe an inch of water in it. Somehow that Chinchou managed to be completely submerged and fished up, but anyone who immediately went to the investigate would only get their fingertips wet in the mysterious shallow yet somehow deep-enough puddle.
