PersonalityGaku tries REALLY HARD YOU GUYS to be a serious and solemn elite ninja warrior. He talks poetically and poses dramatically, but it becomes apparent pretty often he tries a bit too hard at this. Gaku gets excited about just about everything, and has a hard time hiding it at times. He's got a pretty strong sense of morality, and is glad he now has the freedom to pick and choose which jobs he takes as a mercenary, refusing or abandoning any job that he decides is amoral, no matter the cost. Hunting wild animals was one of Gaku 's favorite parts of clan life, and when nobody is looking, he will chase squirrels and pigeons.
Magic User Status Wizard (Controls powers through rituals or actions)
Powers/SkillsTrained in the art of the Kagegawa clan's style of Ninjitsu, meaning he can use hand gestures to concentrate his magical aura inside and outside his body. As a magic user the physical attributes of his whole body is augmented by magic, but his Ninjitsu lets him shift that power around, augmenting certain limbs further. By manipulating his external aura he can create solid "decoys" that are fragile but still capable of fighting.

Biography

The Kagegawa Clan is a pack of Werewolves living in Japan. They wander through the woods, hunting wild animals and training in their arts at night, then setting up a camp before sunrise to sleep through the day. Often, they send groups of pack-members to nearby towns to find work as ninja mercenaries. Amongst all magical organizations in Japan, the Kagegawa Clan is feared and powerful.

But then you have Gaku.

While Gaku was able to awaken as a magic user, with the same style of magic as everyone else in his clan, he still had a hard time making a name for himself. The members of his clan were all solemn, serious, and honorable, and Gaku was impulsive and goofy. His clanmates would hunt prey with care and precision, setting up the perfect positioning for an ambush, whether against wild animals or paid marks, and Gaku would ruin it with a overeager zeal. His clanmates would spend hours perfecting their techniques, and Gaku would lose focus a few minutes in. He knew he wasn't treated well or respected by his clanmates, but he loved them unconditionally, and was sure they loved him back. And, that may have been true. There were certainly people in his clan who at least liked spending time with Gaku, but eventually the decision was made to get rid of him.

The higher-ups of his clan gave Gaku a chance: go to America, where mercenaries get a lot of work, and master the craft. He'd be the first of his clan there, to bring the name of the Kagegawa family to America. Deep down, Gaku knew they were just trying to get rid of him, and were taking advantage of his naivety to decieve him, but he acted like he didn't know. He decided to try and take it seriously, and surprise them when he became a master Ninja. He certainly gets a lot more action this way, and it turns out he learns faster by throwing himself in danger than practicing techniques repetitively for long periods of time.

Relationships

Lloyd

Gaku thinks Lloyd is super cool and really admirable and also pretty hot. Gaku clings to Lloyd like a lost lamb, hoping some of Lloyd's coolness will rub off on him, and instead of it being weird, Lloyd ends up befriending Gaku and they hang out on the town a lot.

Princess Angela Wonderchan Sakurablossom

Gaku starts off a bit uncomfortable around Angela since Angela is an insensitive weeaboo, fetishizing Gaku's culture, not to mention the mentions of Yaoi... But, Angela wisens up, realizes she's being disrespectful, and when she reaches out, Gaku forgives her. She has a very genuine interest in Gaku's culture, she wants to be respectful, and talking about it with her makes Gaku nostalgic and happy.

Trivia

In-Game Fighting Style

  • Contrary to popular belief, werewolves do NOT have a dedicated human form, and rather are just able to use the glamor fields designed for all monsters to use.
  • The myth of werewolves turning into wolves under the light of the full moon is due to the race originating from a place where the glamor field would fail under the light of the full moon, causing "humans" to apparently transform into wolves, when in actuality it was their disguise being broken.
  • Gaku does have ADHD, in case it wasn't apparent.
  • He's gay and has a bit of a crush on Lloyd.
  • His favorite food is steak and rice. He got to eat Wagyu steak once while briefing for a mission by a rich person, and he loves it the most.
  • Despite his lack of training, Gaku is still one of the better physically powerful members of his clan. It's mostly his lack of discipline that held him back.
  • Has always been bilingual, English and Japanese. Neither one can really be considered his first language.
  • When he gets excited, he wags his tail with enough strength to knock over a small child.
  • His dad's name is Kagegawa Shigeryu
  • Secretely into Vore (Prey)

Gaku is a ranged damage-dealer. He attacks by throwing knives that cause the target to bleed, dealing damage over three turns, with the duration and power of the bleed increasing with every successive hit.

Because of this, Gaku is one of the best back-line attackers for taking out tough single targets like bosses. While he lacks much in the way of debuffs, he does have a lot of mobility options, and he has a lot of ablities that interact with his Bleed mechanic, such as teleporting to bleeding targets, or dealing low-damage attacks that immediately cause the target to start bleeding heavily. He can also create decoys that can attack alongside him, dealing reduced damage but also inflicting bleed.

He promotes to Night Terror and Moon Warrior. Night Terror brings more defensive and mobility options to the table. Moon Warrior is more destructive and flashy. Either promotion will make his family proud.
