Zhi was born and raised among the people of Qingce village. He believed in many of the...Supernatural tales told by the elders, all that belief eventually vanished as he grew older and could not seek enough time for silly things like that. His family was not very fortunate when it came to money, so he worked his butt off for years to make enough money and start a new life in Liyue harbor. He simply could never catch a break. At the ripe age of 20, he had finally been able to make it to Liyue harbor, what an accomplishment! Unfortunately, after all his hard work... It still wasn't enough. He could not afford good housing or any bare necessities. He never had high hopes when it came to the Geo Archon. The elders always told him to keep having faith in Rex Lapis and moving forward but... Where was Morax now? The god of contracts? The god that created fortune and Teyvat's currency? Where was he to aid Zhi during his darkest times? These thoughts caused Zhi to develop a dislike for the Geo Archon.
Zhi kept working and doing what he could to survive in Liyue harbor. Everything changed the day he stepped foot into the Northlander Bank and was greeted by Ekaterina. The woman informed him about the Snezhnayan organization also known as the Fatui. She had stated that they were hiring recruits. As a very large group of people, they most likely get paid very well. Zhi ignored how sketchy the offer was and took it, I mean, after all, he needed the money. Zhi got accepted into the Fatui as the lowest rank. He worked his way up along with his co-worker Luna. They were partners and worked very well together. Their friendship was quite competitive though. Zhi was assigned his first actual mission where he had to collect a debt from some treasure hoarders on a very stormy day. It didn't go very well and he nearly got himself killed. Thankfully, that was the moment he got his vision. Had the Geo Archon not abandoned him after all?
After the incident and as years pass by, he started taking on missions in Snezhnaya. He continued to work harder for the organization blindly. He believed the Fatui were the good guys because they saved him when he needed it. He and Luna eventually ranked up to only one rank below the Harbingers. He got along quite well with the harbingers, they had mutual trust. What he didn't know was... The Tsaritsa had favored him over Luna greatly. Zhi would get all the praise after missions while the Tsaritsa wouldn't even bat an eye at Luna. The Tsaritsa planned on giving Zhi the title of a Harbinger... but to do that, she had to assign one specific mission for him to complete. That mission was never completed because that was the exact moment when Zhi found out about how horrible the organization is. He turned in his badge and left. The Tsaritsa was left angry and in need of revenge. Luna, on the other hand, felt betrayed that her friend would leave her like that as if he never cared... but at the same time, she was upset. What made him better than her? What was he doing that she wasn't? Her anger had driven her to propose a deal with the Tsaritsa. Luna had promised that she would track down Zhi if she got the title of Harbinger in return. She would bring Zhi's head back to the Tsaritsa as a trophy.
Zhi was being hunted by the Fatui and since Liyue is crawling with them, he had no choice but to take refuge in Mondstadt. He was not welcome at first due to his attire and history with the Fatui but soon enough, he made himself at home and everyone warmed up to him. I wonder if the Tsaritsa will ever get her hands on him...
Zhi and Diluc met for the first time on unfortunate circumstances. Zhi was walking around Mondstadt one night and he unexpectedly got jumped by the "Dark Knight Hero". Diluc had mistaken him for a Fatui member. How did Zhi get out of it? Well thankfully Jean was out patrolling and noticed the situation. She cleared up the misunderstanding but Diluc did not like Zhi at first and thought he was like every other Fatui scum. They met for the second time at angels share and eventually Diluc warmed up to him. Their relationship developed well.
Yue would be one of the very few members of the Qixing who is willing to let Zhi back into Liyue with all safety precautions ofc. Zhi often tries to teach him how to use a sword properly but it never seems to have any effect. Yue enjoys putting trinkets and accessories in Zhi's hair. They are very passionate with each other.
Despite them bullying each other whenever they get the chance to... They care greatly for each other and work well as a team. (swirl dmg) Juda gets flustered very easily in front of other people and sometimes in front of Zhi and Yue. He would ask Zhi to close his eyes even if its for a simple kiss on the cheek. Zhi offers to braid his hair in the rare chance that Juda lets him.
