Diamond isn't anyone special. His ambivalence is forced at times because he does not feel that expressing his opinion is appropriate, as he cares far too much for the etiquette of polite civilization for a man in his current situation. Diamond can cook exceedingly well considering the enviroment he is in, he refuses to elaborate on how he manages to make garbage taste edible. He is the 24th king of the menagerie, he doesn't know what any of those words mean.
A shy man with little desire to command anyone, let alone a company's worth of quote-unquote soldiers. Lucky for him there isn't much that needs doing, besides preventing them from killing eachother, a task he has already failed. He doesn't have any hope for their humanity, though he does love them, save a few outliers.
- The man in the red hat ate his previous glass eye. They're still friends, much to the frustration of just about everyone who hates red.
- Precious is Diamond's partner. They rarely argue, but only because Diamond neglects to mention anything that might make Precious upset. He cares for Precious far too much, in a way that often comes across as superficial.
- Diamond and
Texas often are seen together. Texas enjoys his nonthreatening stature and enjoys feeling like his guardian. Diamond likes to stand under him to avoid rain, snow, or birds of prey.
His missing eye is a congenital defect. He stole his current glass eye and actually quite likes the mismatched look, it makes him feel very glamorous and unique. He is relatively effeminate, taking great care to fine-tune his appearance. He has a British accent and has spoken English his entire life, his first language is Hindi.
